Congrats South Dakotans---you have a chance now (after watching Thune's stellar performance) to be the talk of the nation and defeat the Democrat leader of the Senate! Go out and do it guys!

PS: Is someone closely watching those pesky nonexistant voters being registered on the Indian Reservations this time around?

And this report comes on the heels of the National Convention which featured hecklers of every stripe actually on the floor of the hall.

Accusations of keeping (gasp) non-republicans away from the President ring hollow!

But if they did it, KUDOS!

In regard to the FEC, anyone who was unfortunate enough (moi) to watch last week's hearing, this commission was rendered redundant from its inception. They, by law, must be made up of three people from each party.

They're basically blowhards (some not all) and acknowledge as they debate that they realize they're not going to change the minds of the other commissioners. Its painful to watch.

My goodness, you've hit on it. Where's Dick Cavett? Still kicking, right?

Next time the dems challenge Pres Bush to submit to ALL the debates proposed someone should say only if Kerry will agree to everything we propose.....and we propose a redux!

[Bob Kerrey has his own cloud of suspicion to deal with:]

That was sort of my point. The logical guests such as Kerrey (Bob) aren't willing to talk publicly on this issue.....they only write articles then hide!

Regarding Rood, isn't it interesting that this guy is the only former "eyewitness" Kerry could coerce to come forward at this critical time. But only in writing, not personally! And what's his expertise? The Sampan incident! Not the most critical of charges brought up by the Swifties.

Rassman would have been the logical guest to counter the SBVT today. Or John McCain. Or Bob Kerrey, the new defender of the war hero. Looks as though team Kerry didn't coerce "strongly" enough.

The video of McCain and Bush from Feb of 2000 must have been the Larry King debate just before the SC primary. In the debate they sat around a table and conducted a casual "debate".

If this is so, I remember that when McCain brought up the negative campaigning, Bush held up a flyer which he said smeared him and had been put on cars in parking lots in SC. I don't remember the content, but he made it clear they both had grievances. Unfortunately....to the loser goes the right to play victim! Never mind what the McCainiacs tried to do to Bush in SC.

So the question is.....did McCain sign off on Kerry's use of the footage? My guess is probably not. They have CNN snitches who probably supplied it and since the Senator still lives off his anger they're counting on him to say "no comment".

    {What made him suspect to me was his "NEED" to prefaces his adoration upon JFKerry for "SAVING" him was that he was a "volvo" Republican. That was day one of his appearance in "saving" a sinking JFKerry campaign. WHAT difference did it make what "political" party he was, "IF" what he was claiming were true.}

But what I'd like to know is why did he write the citation at the time? Was it cover for having been ineffective (to say the least) during the incident as the only real warrior in the group?

And once reminded of this charade years later he thought "What the heck? Milk it!"

    Is that it?

I agree with you about the "honestly believes" opinion on Rassman's account of crediting Kerry with saving his life.

He's been given the benefit of the doubt by a public which thought of him as an "average sailor" in Viet Nam who became a policeman. But we now know he was a Green Beret for goodness sakes! He may have been the only guy in the water even capable of diving to the bottom for long periods of time to avoid the "firefight".

And he (as a well-trained warrior) also would have seen subsequently that there was no evidence of that firefight.

So why did he write up that citation for valor?

Hey, thanks! This clears up so many discrepancies in the reports out about this incident. Which boat was Rassman actually on......why did he fall off.......who wrote up the citation.....etc.

The lack of bullet holes as well as bullet wounds is especially telling.

One last comment about the Patriot who wrote this article: Rush asked a pro-Kerry caller the other day---"What medals did George HW Bush and Bob Dole win for their heroic actions in WW2?" The caller said he didn't know. Rush said "EXACTLY!"

"Big thinkers" such as Mr. Farber know this is what he meant.

There is a big HOWEVER, nonetheless.

People who don't pay much attention to politics; those who "have a life" or who won't pay attention for a few more months are going to decide this election. And if our people allow the "Bush lied" point we could be in trouble.

I know that because my liberal friends actually smirk when they bring up this point. In their minds they've planted him squarely on a par with their hero, Clinton. Except that "our" lying scumbag is also an ignoramus!

Do you want to give them that? Not I!

It's a game guys. The Dem leaders are playing games and Barry is playing along in this article, allowing them their oft-repeated points just to save time.

However I, like many of you don't appreciate these dangerous games and don't like to concede even the most trivial point, be it "lies" to invade Iraq, "selective intelligence" about WMDs and most especially "fascist tactics" in what we're doing in this country to gain information.

I hate to say it but when the likes of Barry Farber concedes that some of these points are foregone conclusions, the Dem propagandists have won a big battle in this war of ours.

Exactly.....bringing up grudges from four or eight years ago won't be effective. Its 2004, and its Kerry who's running this campaign to keep Bush's triumphs off the air (as Rush said, 9/11's a positive for Bush which is the reason they're howling).

Maybe the Bush campaign advisors should just ask the press, as representatives of the dem's "grievance committee" to give them a list of all areas we need to avoid talking about in an election year. Everything that could "cause pain" to someone....somewhere!

By the way, speaking of causing pain......those 9/11 families who objected to Bush using images and reminders of the twin towers tragedy.........are they the same people who have been lobbying for a "tasteful" memorial, hanging out at the 9/11 commission hearings to make sure all the info gets out, and generally wallowing in the tragedy all day--every day? Are they the ones who object to this "blink of an eye" reminder?

Two things I remember from 12 years ago:

Mary Tillotson was told in no uncertain terms to ask the question by her CNN bosses. She apparently had been reluctant, did it anyway, but found her career at CNN nonetheless on the wane afterward. Did she protest too much?

And second, it was Hillary herself who planted the idea in the heads of the media that she thought it unfair to accuse her husband without probing the Bush rumor. Barbara Bush herself said she was more or less sympathetic to Hillary's anguish during the '92 campaign til she was given the facts about who actually was pushing the rumor about President Bush.

I must agree with your opinion of the weekend hosts. Juliet is painfully lightweight. Allison Camerata filled in this past weekend with great results.

As to the USA Today article.....wonderful to have my morning choice validated by the shows universal popularity. Just love those people. Hope the big bucks flow their way!
