Two Kinds of Bush Voters
NewsMax.com ^ | May 26, 2004 | Barry Farber

Posted on 05/31/2004 3:49:03 AM PDT by Americathy

After a lifetime of ridiculing single-issue voters, I've become one. Don't bother me with prescription drugs, Bush's anti-conservative spending habits, the growth of government, and lousy Republican stewardship over the wetlands.

We are at war!

Dammit, don t you understand? We are at WAR? Just because House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi doesn t feel it (her words, not mine!), that doesn't excuse the rest of us. This war, in spite of all that s gone wrong, is eminently winnable. I see, not just goodness, but glory if American policy succeeds. And, conversely, unending trouble if it doesn't. And I mean big trouble; possibly even civilization-ending trouble!

This may seem like a strange defense of President Bush. But it will be followed by an even stranger attack on Senator John Kerry.

I love this guy's down home style of writing. He used to be on the radio but if he still is, he's not in my neck of the woods. Article is pretty long.

I'm with you! I used to be able to listen to Barry on the radio...loved hearing him. Now we're stuck with Doug Stephan (or cattle futures).

My only comment is to suggest that the author ask why this single issue has to be an issue for the other party? They could lead out in other ways, but they choose this one to drag through the mud. The answer is that the other party is usually wrong anyway, and has done much to put us in the situation we're already in today. Pelosi says the troops weren't well enough equipped and there weren't enough of them to deploy in Iraq. Well just who might we blame for that? Democrats. One thing leads to another and a writer like Barry Farber has to admit that Republicans are better at a lot of other things, as well. Just look at Ronald Reagan and George Bush senior for exmaples. When compared to Clinton and Carter, the differences are stark.

WMD's have been found, are being found and will be continually be found in Iraq. The Iraq Saddam Hussein regime has been involved exstensively with Al Qaida, from allowing Al Qaida terrorist training camps, to providing legitimate state sponsored passports, to being directly involved in attacks against America, Americans and American intersts, especially the events of September 11th, 2001. What? Is this guy to lazy to research this? Has the constant repeating of the "Bush lied there was no WMD's, no Al Qaida-Iraq connection" propaganda from the leftist anti-American Democrats and media worked so well on this conservative? Shameful!

Can anyone explain this: "lousy Republican stewardship over the wetlands". I know it's a standard part of Democrat hyperbole, but is there any truth to that charge?

The "wetlands comment" was an attempt at humour, he was just being facetious. That's how I took it. Who knows, this guy seems to have bought many of the left's lies, maybe he also thinks Bush put arsenic into his drinking water.

Agreed, he's just saying, those arguments (which by Farber's other writings he doesn't agree with) are trumped by the one overriding issue: terrorism.

Thanks. You're probably right. I have to agree with the "prescription drugs, Bush's anti-conservative spending habits, the growth of government" charges, much to my chagrin, but I don't see Bush as being anti-wetland.

The left is good at listing a string of BS together and calling fact. And the worst thing is, if they do it often enough, the simple minded voters start to believe it.

No, he is stating that there were no WMD's in Iraq and that there was no Iraq-Al Qaeda connection. See how fast you can get info on this question from many resources. All these people, Maureen Dowd, Eleanor Clift, Ted Kennedy, it's as easy for them to be properly informed as it is us, easier, they are either being deliberately ignorant or are deliberately attempting to decieve while our American military are in harm's way.

Right before Clinton left office, in a politcally anticipated ploy, he lowered the already minute level of arsenic the federal government allowed to be in drinking water. They knew Bush would have to restore the level to it's previous allowance and were ready to pounce when he did, "Bush is poisoning your children with arsenic!"

Barry Farber has been so right for so long that its hard to keep track. We need his voice on our air waves again.

You are honing in on one paragraph and missing the point: "Pile on any other mistakes the President's team has made and, for argument's sake, I won t protest." (my italics) Farber's consistent point is that he couldn't care less about whether or not that other stuff is true, whether the Bush admin has made mistakes. Of course they have, they are human! His concern has been our lack of concern over the big picture, which he knows Bush understands. I'm with him.

When Barry Farber says there were no WMD's in Iraq and there was never a Iraq-Al Qaeda connection he is not being "so right".

"they are either being deliberately ignorant or are deliberately attempting to decieve while our American military are in harm's way."

It is most certainly the latter.

This election boils down to two things, both very, very important to our lives. The War of Terror and how it is prosecuted, GW's style with kill them first, or hanoi john's style serve them with court papers, understand them style.

Then there is the 2-4 Supreme Court Justices which will impact our lives on a scale we have not known in our life time. If we think Roe v Wade was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet if hanoi john wins all his enviro whacko stuff, his homo sexual agenda and anti-2A, anti-death penalty stuff will go into effect via black robe tyrants.

I get his point completly, that one paragraph deserves to be focused upon, it is incorrect. I want to know what prompts these people to DESIRE to believe that there were no WMD's in Iraq that that never was an Iraq-Al Qaeda connection to such an extent as to state it so openly. It is so easily disproven.

It's a game guys. The Dem leaders are playing games and Barry is playing along in this article, allowing them their oft-repeated points just to save time.

However I, like many of you don't appreciate these dangerous games and don't like to concede even the most trivial point, be it "lies" to invade Iraq, "selective intelligence" about WMDs and most especially "fascist tactics" in what we're doing in this country to gain information.

I hate to say it but when the likes of Barry Farber concedes that some of these points are foregone conclusions, the Dem propagandists have won a big battle in this war of ours.

Thank you! Concede nothing to those who are willing to sacrifice the future of America for their acquisition of power. Some one should put his guy on the carpet for stating this untrue "one paragraph" while our troops are fighting the enemy in Iraq, a nation that was actively involved in the planning of the the events on September 11th, 2001.

Well, he has a good point.
It's hard to be concerned about the 3 toed snail darter when everyone is dead.

The only real question for this election is "who will do the best job fighting terrorism?" and the answer to that question is self evident.
