Personally, it became abundantly clear to me in Jan. 2005 within a few days after President Bush started his second term that the GOP quietly brought in Jo Ann Davidson, who had 'handed him Ohio' and was given the 'co-chair'position of the GOP, next to Michelman. Davidson is a pro-abortion advocate and 'gay marriage supporter'.
    http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/jan/05012003.html
This was the answer we were given as to what the GOP thought of its Conservative members. It wasn't conservatives the GOP wanted to move into the big camp. We became as an embarrassment to the GOP. In our state's GOP many conservatives lost their positions and weren't welcome to help the GOP.

I held my nose and voted Republican, but I can see how many states, who offered up prolife, conservative Democrats, how conservatives would switch their votes, seeing the weak Republican politician they had in their state. The 2002 and 2004 election was a chance for the GOP to prove what they could do socially, fiscally and militarily. We can't continue saying we are pro-life when not given a clear reason why over 3,000 of our soldiers have died, not to exclude the countless innocent Iraqi lives.

We are Christians. We follow Christ, not the RNC, and if the RNC continues to act like they are ashamed of the Christians, you will continue to see the 'dust being shaken from our feet.'

Sorry... but I have to agree with them. I shop there frequently and I have to watch them ring up constantly. Just yesterday they were wrong on an item price. Of course you have been standing in line forever, and they know you don't want to cause a fuss by doing a price check and having all of the people behind you hum and haw so many times you let it go through. The clerk will look at you as if to say, "Is this hill you are want to die on?", as you look at the crowd behind you, you just give up. But believe me, you have to watch them, because it is a regular occurrence at Walmart. When it happens at Target, they are very courteous and quickly resolve the error. At times they just ask 'what is the price?' and ring it in, giving you a sense they trust and believe you. I appreciate that. At Walmart, the clerk will stand bank with a look of, 'sorry people, SHE is making you wait." I have been on both sides of that line. My family discuss it each time it happens because it is so common and so frustrating.

I am hoping for Janice Rogers Brown. I just have this sinking feeling or 'woman's premonition' that if President Bush does not appoint a woman he is handing the liberal media and Democrats his head on a silver platter. Sure they 'sound' like the men would be a good choice, but when it is done, they will eat him alive and accuse all conservative Republicans of being anti-woman.

Janice Rogers Brown, as a powerful, conservative black woman would stand tall in the hearings. I just want one more time to see the Democrats try to rip this black woman judge apart as they did Judge Thomas. After Katrina and the horrible lies about President Bush and black people, I think this would nip that in the bud. I think it would be one swing with a little rock that would wipe down the Goliath of the liberal press and the Democrats. I think down deep they are all on their knees today praying she won't be chosen.

In addition, I would like to see a woman on the court and she seems one of the chief women on the list with excellent credentials. Well, today I can dream...

During the presidential election, I watched Scarborough regularly. Something changed in the last year. I don't know if has pressure from the network or the slippery slope of working at a liberal network, but I can't tolerate him anymore.

The worst for me was during the Katrina Hurricane. His continual rant blaming President Bush, trying to stir fires and incite the public outraged me. Every time I turn on his show now I marvel how he seems to becoming more rabid than Chris Matthews!

... and I am sorry, but I cannot listen to Rita. Please, someone give her a lozenge. Her voice sounds like she is in pain and she is squeezing the words out. She may be a good journalist, but it is like fingernails on the chalkboard.

    "Evangelical" is a political label"

Not to an Evangelical, conservative Christian. It is our life. The politicians might think it is just a label to use. But, if the Republican party breaks promises it made during the election to acquire votes from the 'Evangelical' Christians, they will find in the upcoming elections we answer to a higher authority than the Republican party and will not vote for those that deceived us in the past.

Sorry... I agree with her. Why are they more concerned how the Democrats are going to accept the nomination than the Republicans. Piling on? I think this is free speech and she has every right to voice her opinion without being demeaned.

I don't enjoy being called a sexist or an elitist for being a conservative Republican who finds this a very weak nomination and as an Evangelical Christian am offended by the manipulation of Christian leader (Dobson) to shepherd in the fellow conservative Christians to the Meir's side. We are the ones that worked so hard to get him in office. Now we are sexists and elitists?

I'll tell you what I am against. I am against Karl Rove telling James Dobson that many from the list of nominees had dropped off because they didn't want to go through the process. Then finding out it was a lie. I am against the White House lying to one of the top Christian leaders in our country to influence him to shepherd fellow Christians into the 'pro Miers' flock. As a Christian, I am deeply offended by this manipulation.

I agree with you and I too know what you are saying. The Lord states "You will know them by their fruit". That is what I am waiting for from the White House.... fruit. What has she done? She has made herself a blank slate throughout her career. That is not what the Lord calls us to do. He calls us to speak for those who can't speak for themselves.

I have taken the time to write her pastor. I viewed the Valley View Christian Church in Dallas where she attends. There is nothing on their website that shows any ministry for the unborn, or in trouble pregnant women. Usually a "pro-life" Christian church does have some ministry. Maybe they do, they just haven't posted it on their site.

As a Christian I look into what the future holds. We should all be more like Isiah, in fear and trembling before the Lord over this nominee. The Christian voices that speak so forcefully knowing that they know how she will vote on partial birth abortion, Roe V. Wade, Oregon's Death with Dignity ought to take some time on their knees. Only God knows how she will vote in the future. I wouldn't want the blood of the innocent on my hands by being caught up in a political fury to get a friend or associate on the SC that would have life or death over the unborn.

The National Right To Life states she went to a dinner in a pro-life fundraising dinner in the late 1980's or early 1990's. Is this what we are basing her philosophy and personal beliefs on? Her law firm also gave support to Hillary Clinton. There are so many mixed messages. The stakes are too high to put our hopes on a woman just because she went to a dinner 15-20 years ago or attends an Evangelical church.

Dr. Dobson is going to be on our radio in the next few minutes in a 2 day reporting of why he supports Harriet Miers. I plan on listening.

As an Evangelical Christian I feel very unsettled about the White House using Dr. Dobson and pushing her because she is a Christian and goes to a church of which he knows the pastor.

I know many professing Christians who I wouldn't want on the Supreme Court... just a few... Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton who sings in black choirs when given the chance, Tony Campolo, Jesse Jackson. You can have the most pro-life church and their will be members who are pro-abortion. We all know this.

That we Evangelical Christians are suppose to support her because of Dr. Dobson's recommendations smacks of something I don't like. She has never revealed her judicial constitutional views. How will she vote on school prayer? How will she vote of Oregon's Death law? How will she vote on partial birth abortion? What about Eminent Domain? That she goes to church is not enough for me. Jesus warned us up the chaff as they look just like the wheat until put to use.

I just worry Dr. Dobson is being played like a fiddle. I don't like thinking of the White House doing such a thing, but it is my impression. I respect Dr. Dobson too much for him this.

If it is true that Karl Rove stated to Dr. Dobson other 'qualified individuals' pulled themselves off the list, I refuse to believe that America is so small that Ms. Miers is the highest appointment. I am afraid the White House will soon fulfill the scripture "your sin will find you out"...

I am skeptical and I would like her name recalled. I have trusted President Bush through his administration, but I now have questions. Laura Bush does not believe Roe vs. Wade should be overturned and neither does Barbara Bush. http://archives.cnn.com/2001/ALLPOLITICS/stories/01/19/laurabush.abortion.02/

I believe Miers is weak and if she is not strong enough to stand up in her career to stand for conservative causes, she will not stand up on the court. This is one of the greatest decisions of his presidency and he punted. I want someone like a Thomas or a Scallia who I can trust, not someone I can only hope and cross my fingers to be conservative.

As a Christian, I am angry that fellow Christians who are leaders in the Evangelical church are putting their hope and trust in man. The Bible warns us not to do that. We are called to test the fruits. She shows none. There is nothing there to inspect of glean from. She is a blank slate and the conservatives who put President Bush in office deserve a better choice.

I have a great deal of respect for Krauthammer. Reaching down to the depth of my anger is yes, we didn't get to pronounce why we want a conservative justice. We didn't get to argue the fact in the senate. The nation needs to know why Republicans vote the way the do. But then, the co-chair of the GOP / Republican party, Jo Ann Davidson is proudly pro-abortion, so possibly the shift in the party has started and this is payoff for Ms. Davidson delivering Ohio to President Bush. Nothing is beyond the imagination at this point.

But, the point that galls me the most is this: When I heard the nomination of Harriett Meirs and I listened and read the conservative frustration and anger I thought to myself immediately. How would the White House calm down the conservatives? They would put out a story she is an Evangelical Christian. What infuriates me the most is that is what the White House did! They used the Christians by not telling us why she is qualified, but that we should accept her because she is in 'our club'... This is the most appalling of all. I feel used in the election and used now. You put pro-abortion Davison in the head of the party, you put out a Supreme Court Justice candidate that the Democrat leaders love...

I have a daughter who is really questioning why she shouldn't be a Democrat. I told her in August to watch in the coming months the debate in the Senate will explain in all over the Supreme Court choice. It will clearly define black and white and why Republicans stand for something different. There will be no debate, President Bush saw to that. The lines are becoming so blurred I am becoming to be at a loss to what to tell her now. We aren't standing for those principles the party once did. The party has been taken over and the Meirs is most likely the nail in the coffin.

This is the point I am trying to grasp. I watched the interview with Orin Hatch yesterday state that we can't ask the interviewees about their stance on abortion. He made that very clear.

I am outraged that for 30 years as a Republican I have been told that when I vote the ticket I am helping get conservative, pro-life judges on the courts. Now, when we have the opportunity, Hatch has the nerve to say we can't ask and it isn't our place to ask? What is the difference between a Republican and a Democrat then? If we cannot expect something from our elected officials to put pro-life people into office, why are we posting signs on our lawns, going to benefits, handing out flyers, giving contributions?.... If, when the time comes to the point, we have to follow what Orin Hatch states and not ask? I feel either this is the biggest chess game of brilliant minds and we are all pawns .... OR I have and millions of others have been the pawns in a game we didn't know we were playing.

I listened to President Bush this morning. I will pray for him that God led him to this decision of Harriett Miers. It is all I can do.

But, I know that he also chose Bill Clinton to be his dad's rooming in buddy on his campaign for disaster relief and that his own mother calls Bill Clinton 'her other son'.

After listening to the likes of Orin Hatch yesterday, how quickly he turned on all who worked so diligently to put President Bush and conservative politicians in office, I don't know if I will trust another politician when they come around again in a year expecting help 'to get conservatives on our courts'.Suddenly we are not in the circle to ask of our politicians what they promised us in the campaign.... Orin Hatch's comments were a little akin to a philosophical date rape... He is hoping we had a good time, but it was only words to get them where they wanted to be. I apologize for my anger. I want to trust President Bush, but I remember Souter and O'Conner.... 'just trust us'.

I have to say tonight I am frustrated beyond belief. I watched what I thought was the best, most hopeful speech I have ever heard a politician give in my 50 years. It was inspiring and honest. It gave hope that all America will pull together, that the people of this country will rebuilt a better gulf coast. That the poor will have a better place to live and raise their families. It was extremely moving and I wept through parts of it, because I too deeply feel for these thousands of Americans who have suffered so much.

I then make the mistake of watching the commentators afterwords. On Fox with Britt Hume, they talked about it being a speech from someone who doesn't know how to give speeches. They played it down and were negative. Scarborough was insulting and demeaning to the president. He has sunk so low and is just like all the other blow-hard know-it-alls on tv exploiting himself at the expense of our country... CNN was just cynical as usual.

I am so disheartened by the media. They have hit an all-time low. In a time when we need to rally the country, to work together as a team they look for avenues to deride and insult the president and his job. Coming from what I believe was the most positive and hopeful speech I have heard to this garbage of media mud slingers. Those who attack this president and any effort to keep the public incited to hatred is un American and inhuman to all who need to begin healing the wounds at this devastating time.

Once we use to herald 'United we Stand', now we just go for the throat... The media is turning this country into a spoiled, selfish society who show no patriotism or loyalty to our leaders. I am sickened and ashamed. Sometimes, I listen to the media and I think why doesn't President Bush just walk away from it all? Why doesn't he just say he has had enough of the mean spirited, hateful, un-American media and quit. Now, wouldn't they all be thrilled with President Cheney. They should count their lucky stars they have a president with as much compassion, work ethic and character as Bush. I don't think we will see the likes of this kind of president again in our lifetimes. This country will get just what its people deserve.

It is important to read the full transcript of the Larry King show last Tuesday, the day of the flood, to see the ineptness of Governor Blanco. As they try to change history, it is time to reflect on what Governor Blanco actually stated on the day of the flood about how President Bush was repeatedly calling to help New Orleans. Governor Barbor in the transcript actually said he was 'chomping at the bit' to help but was asked not to come. It is also interesting to note that Gov. Blanco only called 4,000 National Guard deployed to assist the state of Louisiana.

I am sorry that her mother had a stroke, but look at the stress she must be under. Watching her daughter destroy her grandson's memory; knowing the consequences of her actions causing her son-in-law to file divorce papers last week and having the family be grieved over this spectacle Cindy has created.

We must remember that her mother was the 'grandmother' signing the part of the email 'Family Statement' sent to Drudge 7 days ago as follows,

"In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

    Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. "

I can only imagine the grief this family has endured this last year and with her daughter in the last weeks calling our president a terrorist and declaring she won't pay her taxes, demanding a second visit with the president... It must be more than a 76 year old mother can take.
