Life In the Family
[Kathryn Jean Lopez  07/19 08:16 PM]

Since the Washington Post wrote about Bush's women and abortion today, how about Judge Roberts's? John Roberts's wife, Jane, has served as executive vice president of Feminists for Life (one of my favorite groups).

Well, it may be one of K Lo's fave groups, but why am I getting an "uh oh" feeling right about now.

Very good.

But, I'll bet still not good enough for some around here.

FfL is a tremendous group - this is very encouraging news.

"Well, it may be one of K Lo's fave groups, but why am I getting an "uh oh" feeling right about now."

...Um, because you are misreading the title of their name as if it said "Feminists Forever" instead of the more actual "women against abortion."

"For Life" in their name means pro-life, anti-abortion.

I think unless we have photos of Judge Roberts protesting an abortion clinic, the anti-abortion crowd is going to be "concerned" since he was forced to admit Roe is the current settled law in confirmation hearings for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, as if he was going to be in a position to do anything about it at that point.

Hey, thanks for clarifying that. I was reading it the wrong way also.

This is probably the most significant fact to come out tonight. The man is simply not pro-Roe with a wife like that.

No, no, I know that. In fact, I was at one time a member of this group. Not really card-carrying or dues paying, but I did consider myself a very stingy and lazy member.

I'm just afraid the left, well the Dems, will use this as a stick to beat him with, that's all.

Feminists for Life????

One word: Confused.

how about Democrats for Rove?

Teddy Kennedy for MADD?

Gays for anti-same sex marriages?

Al Qaeda for peace?

Taliban for womens rights?

And so on. I guess I should do a little clicking now. Maybe Feminists for life is for real.

Shhh, mum's the word. Let the Bush bashers keep telling everyone how unhappy they are and that abortion is settled law ...

I note elsewhere that his wife, Jane Sullivan Roberts, is a Catholic, a Holy Cross grad, and that the couple has two adopted children. Is Judge Roberts himself Catholic?

For those "conservatives" who don't think this is important...

What if his wife was a board member for the National Abortion Rights Action League?

This news is a very good sign.

Don't overlook the influence of children.

Actually, the more I think about, the more certain I am that THIS IS THE STORY OF THE NIGHT.

Amen. I have a friend who insists the most important thing when evaluating a candidate is the wife's position on abortion. This is why she never has trusted the Bushes.
