Can you catch Ebola on a crowded bus or train if you are standing next to someone who is infected? What if that person sneezes or coughs on you? If the person has symptoms, the answer could be yes.

I carry concealed a nice glock .40. Fits female hand great, but want a short barrel home invasion shotgun loaded for bear. Any recommendations on a reliable, relatively light-weighted weapon? Brand? Model? Thanks!

Less than a week after Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) was indicted by a grand jury on two felony counts, he may be in an even stronger political position than he was before the charges hit. Several prominent Republicans have spoken out on Perry's behalf. Conservative activists in Iowa and New Hampshire aren't shying away. Even a well-known Democratic strategist has suggested the case against him may be flimsy. For a politician who is openly weighing another run for president, it's a welcome turn of events: While politicians embroiled in legal fights of this magnitude typically find few public allies,...

Rick Perry’s potential 2016 GOP rivals on Saturday rushed to the Texas governor’s defense in the wake of his indictment on allegations of abusing his office. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush all came out in strong defense of Perry, who on Saturday said he would fight the “farce” indictment. Cruz, who previously served as a top lawyer for the Lone Star state, blasted the prosecution as “politically motivated” and lit into what he deemed as the “sad history” of the prosecutors, a reference to previous legal efforts aimed at Texas Republicans.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday that he will visit Israel in October, a move that signals to the political world that he is seriously considering making another presidential run in 2016. “We will be going to Israel to bring together Arabs, Christian and Jews in an educational forum,” Mr. Perry told The Washington Times in an interview just three days after he announced he would not seek an unprecedented fourth term as Texas governor. Many analysts interpreted that decision as evidence that he is setting the table for a White House campaign. Asked what would induce him to announce...

You don’t win a nationally televised debate by being rude and obnoxious. You don’t win by interrupting your opponent time after time after time or by being a blowhard. You don’t win with facial expressions, especially smirks or fake laughs, or by pretending to be utterly exasperated with what your opponent is saying. That’s why Vice President Joe Biden didn’t win the one and only debate last night with his Republican rival, Mitt Romney’s running mate Paul Ryan. In fact, though Ryan had several weak moments—one of them was on Syria—the only conceivable takeaway from the veep debate was Biden’s...

Mr. Cain made it clear Wednesday his plan remained a work in progress. Visiting Concord, N.H., he added several new wrinkles. He would preserve the deduction for charitable donations, making the flat income tax not so flat; he would exempt any used goods, including previously owned homes and cars, from the national sales tax; and he would allow businesses to deduct new equipment purchases from their 9% corporate income tax, as long as the goods were U.S.-made. Asked how that would apply to a computer designed domestically but containing Malaysian components and assembled in China, he replied, "I have no...

“This president would rather listen to an environmental activist than he would the pleas and the cries of the people without a job,” Perry said at the Indiana Republican Party’s Presidential Forum in Indianapolis. “The question is whether the president’s going to listen to his advisers on jobs or competiveness or is he going to listen to the activists that are pushing an agenda that pits environment against the economy,” Perry added. “That’s what the question is. I’m going to be in Pittsburgh Friday and I’m going to announce my own energy jobs plan, and I can promise you this:...

One of the things to watch for in tonight’s GOP debate is how Herman Cain is treated by his fellow candidates. Is he perceived as a threat? Do they take his chances seriously? snip Based on history, that kind of performance ought to make Cain a target in the debate, because that’s what happens to top-tier candidates. When Rick Perry entered the race and seemed a real threat, Romney wasted no time attacking him, with Michele Bachmann gleefully joining in. Perry hasn’t been the same since. snip So if Romney, Perry and Bachmann do perceive Cain as a legitimate threat...

Mitt Romney's affection for Herman Cain has been well documented, at POLITICO and elsewhere. Romney took it to the next level at a New Hampshire town hall this evening. "We each have our own experiences, he’s a great guy. Vote for either one of us and you’ll be happy," Romney said, per POLITICO's Reid Epstein. Romney also called Cain a "terrific guy" and said voters should "give him a good look." That's not something Romney would say about a candidate he views as a real threat, and it's a reminder of how much Cain's rise has been mutually beneficial to...

The latest Fox poll offered Republican voters a menu of 11 candidates and found...not only were voters scattered across the conservative landscape, but 1/4 of the Tea Party adherents sampled were still “not impressed” with anyone. It’s hard to impress a movement that only knows what it is against. Now, barring some wild twist of fate, there are two men standing: Mitt Romney, the methodical, thrill-free, ideologically elastic technocrat from Massachusetts, who has made himself the default nominee; and the last hope of the hard core, the Not Mitt: Rick Perry. snip ...whatever you think of his deviations from Tea...

Mitt Romney faced relentless criticism four years ago for changing his positions on abortion and gay rights and equivocating on other issues, including immigration and gun control. This year, the former Massachusetts governor has largely escaped such attacks as he competes again for the Republican presidential nomination. That might be changing.

...Mr Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who leads the Republican field of candidates for president, has never been able to shake off doubts over whether evangelical Christians would support him if he became the nation’s first Mormon nominee. snip Charlie Cook, a political analyst, predicts that Republicans will see a drawn out contest between Mr Romney, who has limited credibility with hardcore conservative voters, and Mr Perry, who is ideologically in line with conservatives but has not made a smooth transition from the governor’s mansion in Texas to the national stage. The two will spar at another debate on Tuesday...

While Cain is likely to hit a ceiling in the near future, he’s effectively dug into Perry’s base and helped expose the frontrunner’s weakness. Fracturing the anti-Romney vote has made it all the easier for Romney to win.

What Perry’s fundraising shows, his backers argue, is that he’s the only conservative candidate in the race with the resources to compete against Mitt Romney over the long haul. In other words, he can spend his way out of his current predicament. And while Perry has likely lost his chance to run away with the Republican presidential nomination, his eye-opening cash haul — collected in just 49 days — suggests he may yet be able to wrest it from Romney in an expensive, bruising nomination fight that drags on into spring. “He is going to have the resources to run...

I just think it’s important for the people of America and certainly in Republican primary, to see the clear differences that the candidates have and we need to nominate someone who will have a stark, clear difference between the Republican nominee and President Obama. And I think I am that person who can clearly delineate the differences. We don’t need to nominate “Obama-lite,” we don’t need to nominate someone who’s going to blur the lines between Obama and our nominee. This election is about the future of America and who’s going to get America back working again and I think...

The former Massachusetts governor now leads his nearest rival, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, by 27 points among likely New Hampshire voters, according to a Suffolk University-7News poll released Wednesday night. Perry finished far back, earning 8 percent compared with Romney's 41 percent. Paul took 14 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman received 10 percent to round out the top four finishers.
