That isn't too surprising, I guess. The favorable/unfavorable numbers for both Forrester *and* Corzine were horrible. Corzine simply isn't liked that much in this state. The NJ GOP is going to *have* to find a more convincing standard bearer than Doug Forrester, though. When are they going to learn?

I guess we can count on any Democratic victory today to be spun as "the turning of the tide," and a harbinger of an end to the era of Republican hegemony. You know, like they tried to do with Mary Landrieu in 2002.

I like Judge Alito, but he did disappoint me during that whole "O.J. Simpson" thing.

Here's what I think is so amazing. Now that Libby's been indicted, the AP suddenly calls him "one of the administration's influential advisers," and "a chief architect of the war with Iraq."

Unbelievable. I guess if Fitzgerald had only been able to indict some poor schlub who worked in the White House mailroom, then he would suddenly be the one who secretly ran the whole show.

My graduate studies were in nuclear physics, and I spent several summers back during the 80's at Long Island's Brookhaven National Laboratory. Back then, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) didn't exist yet. All there was at the site were some enormous empty tunnels, dug for a different accelerator project that never got off the ground. The tunnels stood as a monument to fiscal and bureaucratic incompetence and government boondoggles... but they looked really cool and spooky at night.

In short, it was the big make-out spot in those days. Or a place for drinking beer, if you were a physics geek with no girlfriend. I have many fond memories of hanging out by those huge empty holes on a summer night with my friends, watching the deer watching us, curiously from the tree line, and getting quietly drunk.

You would think CTU could do a better job of screening its employees, though.

I've heard this theory before. Why are some people confused by this? Jet fuel may have indeed started the blaze, but it was hardly the only substance burning. The buildings were full of combustibles, some of which have *much* higher burning temperatures than jet fuel. What is that so hard to understand?

Couldn't they just push that little button on the keychain that makes the horn beep?
