John McCain: Wait and See on Alito

Gang or 14 leader, Sen. John McCain declined to offer unqualified support Monday morning for President Bush's new Supreme Court pick, Sam Alito - saying he wanted to wait for confirmation hearings before fully endorsing the conservative judge.

"I've always been favorably disposed towards a president's nominee," McCain told radio host Don Imus. "I voted for Justice Ginsburg and Justice Breyer because I think elections have consequences. I didn't share their judicial philosophy."

However, asked directly if he would support Alito, McCain told Imus: "Well, I'm favorably disposed but I'd like to see what happens in the hearings."

"That's why we have hearings," McCain reminded. "We go through all the examination of people's records. I hope that we can get this thing done and get it behind us."

"Get this thing done"? He's such a wordsmith.

That's how they talk in Trenton; McCain is just trying to blend.

Once again, someone is asking McPain his opinion. This jerk continues to damage conservatives to shore up his lefty pals.

"John McCain: Wait and See on Alito"

Yeah, we'll wait and see on Alito. But so far he sounds good to me.

We'll also wait and see on that RINO McClown and his fellow Quislings. The whole conservative Republican establishment - which means the majority of the Republican Party will be following these guys INTENTLY. If they bolt and run to the Rats, they might just as well chekc out and join Jeffords - and face pertty certain defeat at the polls.

All seven people listening to the Imus in the Morning show called to confirm this is what McCain said...

Good one. Might leave a mark though!

I like Judge Alito, but he did disappoint me during that whole "O.J. Simpson" thing.

Its far too early and there were far too few possibles in that list.

HELL would freeze over before most conservatives would vote for McClown or Giuliani for dogcatcher.

McVain will always take a maverick position first in order to attract attention from the media to himself.

I wouldn't want to be on the eighteenth hole, in a local watering hole, or in a fox hole with this !@#$%*#.

McCain is acting just speaking like the RINO he is. I really respect Bush's descision today. It takes courage to nominate undeniably pro-life candidates like Alito when a majority of voters want abortion legal. Thank you Bush!

I wondered how long it would be before Senator McWhine piped up to add his inane two cents as usual. We didn't have to wait too long....

Earlier today, I came up with the responses I imagine we'll hear from the usual suspects: the Swimmer (Ma.), smarmy Schumer, reprehensible Reid, etc. I'm going to count how many times I hear them say "radical right wing," "rewriting [or undoing] the Constitution," "President needed to appoint a 'moderate mainstream conservative'," "once again this administration has failed to ____" and so on

He voted for ACLU Ginsberg.

If he does not vote for Alito, he will never be on a GOP Presidential ticket.

He will vote for Alito.

Go ahead, McCain. Vote against Alito. I dare you.

Yep. President Bush should tell him:

"Go ahead. Make my day."

Miers was a different story. Alito is the real thing, and the base will eat McCain for lunch if he opposes him.

As A non-John McCain fan, I view his claptrap
response as intentionally middle of the road
so as NOT to upset his cronies across the aisle!
I've tracked his voting record; and IMO, McCain
has voted too many times with Kennedy/Kerry.

McCain is merely telling the various parties and lobbyists that his vote is officially up for auction.
