I learned something about nutria back when I was a teen. If you’re out bowfishing and you see a nutria, don’t stick it with your only fishing arrow because if you don’t kill it, it’s really mad. If you have no other means of killing it, you might not get your arrow back.

And it’s got big pointy teeth.

As I side note, I sold my first airboat to some Cajuns who were killing/trapping nutria and selling them to a dog food processor. They were bringing in hundreds of pounds per night.

Nutria a quite destructive.

In this state, your license is (if reported) suspended for one year after your last documented seizure.

You can’t be respectful of someone or something that doesn’t deserve respect in the first place.

The only reason most of them go up there is loot and steal and he’s upsetting their grift.

I still can’t quite understand why, of the millions of words out there, they decided to use “parsecs?”

A parsec is a unit of distance.

So they could have said “It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 miles.”

Apollo 11.

In order to start the engines to leave the moons surface, you flipped some toggle switches. The switch panel was located near the door and one of the astronauts had snapped the toggle off the ascent engine switch while going through the door. The panel was moved for Apollo 12.

Since this was all televised, they didn’t want to go “oh ****” so “I think my watched stopped” was to be used in case something bad happened. A bunch of sphincters slammed shut in Houston when he said that. Neil (?) looked at it and figured out that there was still enough of the toggle stub to be able to manipulate it with a ballpoint pen.

“Give me a napkin quick. There’s a turd floating through the air.”

Apollo 10

I had wisdom teeth taken out when I was in my early teens. The anesthesiologist gorked me to the point that I woke up around supper time propped up in a chair in the waiting room with only the receptionist and my mom still there.

Mom spent many years working in hospitals and looked at me with “that look” and said “I didn’t think you were going to wake up.”

The kid that walked out of there wasn’t near the kid that walked in.

I’ve seen some pretty impressive bear pictures from game cameras in Pittsburg County. That said it might be a mountain lion that tore her up.

I worked in a smaller city and when I retired we worked a little over one working structure fire per month. The fire service has evolved into an EMS ambulance department that can also fight fire.

I argued (without success) to refurb the trucks we had because all that matters is that the VIN on the frame says that it was made before DEF and crazy TIER emission restrictions. You could take a bare frame and put everything else new on it and forget all of the troublesome expensive emission garbage.

Some years ago, the whole fire truck manufacturing industry almost ground to a halt because the EPA said that you had to recertify the same powertrain combination if you made the frame 1” longer or shorter (or whatever) than the one you certified, which cost mega $$. Detroit and CAT said fine, we won’t play so Cummins was the only engine provider available.

Our city was so paranoid about the wrath of the EPA that we were having to do in-frame engine overhauls every 40K miles because the OEM air filter setup let great quantities of dirt to come in around the poorly fitting air filter box.

The problem could have been fixed permanently for a few hundred dollars but instead, they spent 10’s of thousands over and over.

The reason a truck gets dispatched with an ambulance is so that you have enough manpower to work the obese patients and many of them are. Working a CPR with only 2 people and then one of them hops in the front to drive to the hospital?

We went on a smell of smoke call in a person’s garage one time and it ended up that several of the kids had Power Wheels toys that were 12 or 24 volt and one kid had a scooter that was 36 or 48 volts and they all had the same connector end. It looked like the end you would find on a laptop charger. One of the Power Wheels batteries was just about to go critical.

I hear you on the battery chargers. The “smart” ones won’t charge a battery if it’s very low. Mine flags it as “sulfated bad battery” I put it on an old style charger and most will come up unless it’s really old.

What’s amazing is that you can have chargers with widely different voltages and currents all with the same end on them. When you plug the high voltage charger into the low voltage toy or bike, you have a fried battery at best and often enough, a battery fire.

Maybe having the IQ of a pencil eraser makes that possible.

It’s going to be interesting to see cities like NYC become a version of “rust belt” as once mighty cities fall due to their poor voting choices.
