  • Can't get proper prophylaxis or early Covid treatment locally because the doctor is a pro-vax zealot? Here is an alternative.

Have you been treated like a criminal by an ER doctor because you refused to get the experimental vaccine and the got covid and then the doctor refuses to treat you in any way? This is completely unethical behavior by the doctor, yet it is happening to MANY people. A spouse of a friend recently got covid and was feeling poorly and just wanted something to keep it from getting worse. Yet the ER doctor refused to give him medications that have proven to be effective in reducing the severity and duration of Covid. He refused to do anything other...

I have been reading about the cluster-foxtrot that Biden has allowed in Afghanistan and that the government is considering requesting that commercial airliners be pressed into service to rescue trapped US citizens and I thought to myself, what would be a better way to show how to lead than for Trump to send his personal jet to Kabul to rescue a planeload of Americans? He could have the crew shuttle them to a safe airport and go back after a couple of loads. What do Freepers think of this idea?

The insurance companies handling the bankruptcy of the former Remington Arms Company made a $33 million bid this week to escape a specious lawsuit leveled by families of Sandy Hook victims. Remington’s proposed settlement would provide $3.66 million to relatives of each of the nine victims in the lawsuit, according to Reuters. Even if the families take the offer, any settlement in the case must first be approved by the judge overseeing Remington’s bankruptcy case in Alabama. Big Green has been fighting this lawsuit for years. Families of nine of the victims of the 2012 massacre brought the case shortly...

America’s Frontline Doctors, a nonprofit, filed a motion on July 19 seeking immediate injunctive relief to stop the emergency use authorization (EUA) of COVID-19 vaccines for three groups of Americans: anyone under the age of 18, anyone who has recovered from COVID-19, and those who haven’t given informed consent as defined by federal law. The motion was filed against Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and other defendants in a federal district court in the Northern District of Alabama. “The emergency declaration and its multiple renewals are illegal,” the complaint (pdf) alleges. According to...

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has signed into law a bill that incorporates the doctrine of “equity, cultural competency, and dismantling institutional racism” into the training for all K–12 educators across the state. Under Senate Bill 5044 (pdf)—which passed the state legislature in April—school districts in Washington must use one of three professional learning days to specifically train all staff in the topics of “cultural competency, diversity, equity, or inclusion.” Those topics were among several listed in the bill’s text: “The legislature plans to continue the important work of dismantling institutional racism in public schools and recognizes the importance of increasing...

The Tennessee House voted Monday evening to make the state a Second Amendment sanctuary. The House adopted Senate Bill 1335, which passed last week in the Senate. It “affirms that any law, treaty, executive order, rule, or regulation of the United States government” that violates the Second Amendment is unenforceable. That violation would have to be determined by either the Tennessee or U.S. Supreme Court. Any official that would then attempt to enforce the unconstitutional law would then be subject to ouster. The bill now will head to Gov. Bill Lee’s desk.
  • Supreme Court Declines to Take Up Challenge Against Maryland Bump Stock Ban

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up a challenge against Maryland’s ban on bump stocks and similar devices that can make guns fire faster. The high court on Monday turned away a challenge (pdf) to the ban, which took effect in October 2018. A lower court had dismissed the challenge at an early stage and that decision had been upheld by an appeals court. As is typical, the Supreme Court did not issue a reason for declining to take up the case. [snip] Several weeks ago, however, the Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit recognized that...

More than 450 Marines' careers have been affected by a forcewide redesign that launched last year as the Corps reorganizes to take on new threats, sending hundreds into new career fields, early retirement, or even Army tank units. Commandant Gen. David Berger issued his first annual update to the forcewide redesign he announced in March 2020. The changes center around making the Marine Corps lighter and more expeditionary to take on new threats from sea and ashore. Tank battalions, bridging companies and law enforcement units were slashed as part of the plan. Marines in those jobs are being told to...

Arizona has signed a new law that would prohibit federal gun laws that would violate the Second Amendment. The HB2111 legislation was signed into law Tuesday by Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, ensuring rights of gun owners are protected from potential overreaching gun laws sought by President Joe Biden's administration. The law seeks to prohibit police and sheriffs from enforcing new federal gun laws, which critics say will undermine the rule of law and discourage law enforcement officers from enforcing federal gun laws to protect the public. Critics also say it is an unconstitutional measure that will cost taxpayers to...

The announcement, expected Thursday, comes amid a spate of high-profile shootings and as some advocates have grown frustrated in the White House's delay. President Joe Biden is expected to unveil a long-awaited package of executive actions to curb gun violence Thursday at the White House, according to four people familiar with the plan. The announcement comes nearly three months into Biden’s term, a delay that had frustrated activists who wanted the president to fulfill a campaign pledge to take action on gun violence on his first day in office. That frustration only grew after a slate of mass shootings in...

A group of House Democrats has asked President Joe Biden to take executive action on “concealable assault-style firearms,” citing two mass shootings in Atlanta and Boulder, Colorado, last month. “Concealable assault-style firearms that fire rifle rounds pose an unreasonable threat to our communities and should be fully regulated under the National Firearms Act consistent with the intent and history of the law. The recent tragedy in Boulder, Colorado where 10 people including a police officer were killed is one in a string of deadly incidents involving this style of weapon,” Reps. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), Joe Neguse (D-Colo.), Val Demings (D-Fla.),...

The White House is working on a COVID-19 vaccine passport initiative that could be required for travel, sporting events and even eating out, reports The Washington Post. The report comes as major U.S. airlines and nearly 30 travel and labor groups are pushing President Joe Biden to develop a standardized, government-backed credential to "accelerate safe economic activity and recovery." "The U.S. must be a leader in this development," the groups wrote in a letter to COVID-19 Recovery Team Coordinator Jeff Zients on Monday. "The current diverse and fragmented digital health credentials used to implement different countries' air travel testing requirements...

Writing in the Charleston Gazette, a retired teacher and former mentor of West Virginia’s only PBS News Hour Student Reporting Lab slammed charter and private schools, comparing them to Islamic schools from whence the terrorists who attacked America on 9/11 came. In a piece titled, “Charter schools, vouchers will erode what unites us,” Susan Johnson lauds public schools, writing, “The American public school is where we learn to be Americans.” In May 2020, Education Next reported that some public schools across the nation were adopting the 1619 project into their curriculum, noting, “Schools or school districts in Chicago; Newark, N.J.;...

Bloomberg estimates that the end of the pandemic and the complete return to normal from coronavirus will take seven years. Based on current vaccination rates from all over the world, eradicating the virus completely will take time. However, vaccinations are happening more rapidly in richer Western countries than elsewhere. Consequently, the world will need seven years for a return to normal. At present, the world’s biggest vaccination campaign in history is ongoing. Health ministries of 73 countries started issuing around 131 million doses in total. The latest estimate places the number of daily inoculations at 4.69 million doses a day....

The Biden administration is rushing to embrace the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)—a policy strategy Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called “dangerous” in a video he posted that seeks to bring attention to comments made by the president’s cabinet nominees. The warm relationship—which has already emerged in the beginning weeks of the administration—threatens to undo years of efforts to counter the CCP. Under the Trump administration, the United States began responding to Beijing’s “unrestricted warfare” strategy by ratcheting up its war of words and escalating its countermeasures. Cruz told The Epoch Times via email that China “poses the single greatest geopolitical threat...

Here's a heads up for parents with college age children who claimed them as dependents in 2019 but the children didn't get a stimulus check last year: If you file their return separately, they will get the $1800 in their tax refund, even if they didn't have a W-2. That is how Turbo Tax figured it anyway. If you count them as a dependent, it only reduces your taxes by $500. So it's $1300 net gain.

The Biden administration was hit with an immediate lawsuit Wednesday over its decision to halt oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters. The Western Energy Alliance, a group representing fossil fuel producers active on federal lands, sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming, alleging President Biden exceeded presidential authority. Kathleen Sgamma, president of the Alliance, described Biden's action as a "ban," despite his administration describing the order as a temporary moratorium on leasing while the administration reviews how to better balance oil and gas with developing renewables on federal lands and waters. The administration...
