Today the President met with his Cabinet to discuss the budget. Later on he met with the 2004 Nextel Cup Nascar Champion, Kurt Busch, during a visit by Busch and other racing officials to the Oval Office. The President was presented a racing helmet by Mr. Busch during the visit. This morning President Bush participated in a discussion about Social Security reform at the Qwest Center Omaha Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. This afternoon he held another discussion about Social Security in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Robinson Center Auditorium. Finally late this afternoon the President attended a third town hall style meeting at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa Florida. President and Mrs. Bush attended the National Prayer Breakfast in DC this morning. President Bush took his "Social Security can be fixed" message directly to Americans. The Senate voted 60-36 to confirm Judge Alberto Gonzales as United States Attorney General, with all of the "no" votes coming from Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independent Jim Jeffords of Vermont. PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The first family appears to be spending the weekend at the White House, where the President will monitor progress of the Iraqi elections tomorrow. Depending on events, it is possible he may speak with the media tomorrow. President Bush headed to Cleveland, Ohio today to participate in a healthcare forum about conversation on the benefits of health care information technology.
