SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah activist who filmed the fatal shooting of a Trump supporter during the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol will be released on house arrest, a federal judge ruled Friday. John Sullivan, 26, a self-described journalist and liberal activist, was arrested Thursday and charged with civil disorder, violent entry or disorderly conduct and entering a restricted building or grounds. He made his initial court appearance Friday via video conference where he was released on multiple conditions of release, including remaining at his home when he isn't going to work, religious services or court appearances......"

Footage obtained by the Gateway Pundit from militant Black Lives Matter and Antifa activist John Sullivan’s discord shows the so-called “civil rights activist” reveling inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan.6 as he damaged federal property. Sullivan has maintained in multiple interviews that he regularly attends protests only to record what’s going on, but did not actively partake in the insurgence in Washington. “It’s just recording, solely, and not being active in it,” he told Fox News last week. Yet, in footage streamed to followers on his discord server, Sullivan, who uses the Discord name “Jayden X”, can be heard inciting...

The Black Lives Matter activist who was seen storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was arrested and charged, the Department of Justice said Thursday. A newly released court filing says John Earle Sullivan, 26, told FBI agents last week that he was at the Capitol when the breach happened. He said he entered through a window that had been broken out. He also said he was present when Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, was shot dead by a U.S. Capitol Police officer as she tried to climb into the House Speaker’s Lobby through a window. Sullivan showed agents...

Freshman congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said she will attempt to impeach President-elect Joe Biden for abuse of power once he is sworn into office. The Georgia Republican, who has raised eyebrows for boosting conspiracy theories, announced the long-shot move Wednesday evening on Newsmax, just hours after the House voted to impeach President Trump for inciting an insurrection. “I would like to announce on the behalf of the American people we have to make sure that our leaders are held accountable,” Greene said. She claimed Biden is “willing to abuse the power of the office of the presidency and be easily...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has rejected a plan to reconvene the Senate in an emergency session to hold trial over an impeachment article against President Trump in the House. McConnell press secretary Doug Andres confirmed a report that the Kentucky Republican would not sanction such a move on Wednesday. Without the emergency session, the Senate is due back in session on Jan. 19., so McConnell’s decision all but kills a Democrat-led effort to oust Trump from office before his term is up and President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in on Jan. 20. A trial over the impeachment article is...

Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, the No. 3 House Republican, announced on Tuesday that she would vote to impeach President Trump, saying there had “never been a greater betrayal by a president of the United States” than Mr. Trump’s incitement of a mob that attacked the Capitol last week. In a stinging statement that drove a fissure through her party, Ms. Cheney dismissed fellow Republicans arguing that the impeachment was rushed, premature or unwarranted. Her words were unequivocal and likely to give cover to two dozen or so other House Republicans looking to break ranks and join an effort that...

Rep. John Katko, who represents the Syracuse area and New York’s 24th District, announced that he will vote to impeach President Donald Trump. Katko is apparently the first Republican member of the House of Representatives to announce his support. “To impeach a sitting president is a decision I do not take lightly,” Katko said in his statement. He said that, as a former federal prosecutor, he approached this question by looking at the facts. “The facts are this: last week, the U.S. Capitol was attacked by a mob intent on disrupting a Joint Session of Congress and preventing certification of...

Vice President Mike Pence will attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, according to a source familiar. CNN previously reported that Pence was planning to attend the inauguration, but he was waiting on an invitation. Biden said Friday that he was glad Pence would be attending. "He's welcome. I think it's important that as much as we can stick to what have been the historical precedents of how an administration changes should be maintained. And so Mike, the vice president, is welcome to come. We'd be honored to have him there, and to move forward in the transition," Biden said.

Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday circulated to colleagues a memo outlining the procedure for holding another trial for President Trump if the House impeaches him for a second time in just over a year. The document, which was first reported by The Washington Post, lays out how the Senate would proceed if the House approves articles of impeachment and transmits them to the upper chamber before or by Jan. 19, when senators are scheduled to resume regular business after the January recess.
