Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming, the No. 3 House Republican, announced on Tuesday that she would vote to impeach President Trump, saying there had “never been a greater betrayal by a president of the United States” than Mr. Trump’s incitement of a mob that attacked the Capitol last week.
In a stinging statement that drove a fissure through her party, Ms. Cheney dismissed fellow Republicans arguing that the impeachment was rushed, premature or unwarranted. Her words were unequivocal and likely to give cover to two dozen or so other House Republicans looking to break ranks and join an effort that was also said to have the tacit support of Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader.
“Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough,” said Ms. Cheney, the scion of a storied Republican political family. “The president of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the president.”
She added: “The president could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not.”

Remember when many Freepers practically worshipped Bush AND Cheney?
It's just amazing how Republicans continue to fall for this divide-and-conquer tactic by the Left, knowing that once Ds consolidate power should Biden prevail, Republicans like Liz will be tossed aside like a Raggedy Ann doll.
And yet, republicans in Wyoming will send her back to the house in two years.
Hey Lizzy, daddys calling. Something about an invitation to a duck hunt. Bring your friends
Folks, we are watching the information warfare mob attempting to cancel a single person and that person is also the President of the United States. If we do not fight back, we will be forever controlled by this mob of leftist, democrat criminals.
I hate Bush/Cheney.
Cheney is an incredibly stupid woman. What an embarrassment for Wyoming.
Lizzys auditioning for guest host status on the view when she realizes shes out of work
People in Wyoming must be furious with Cheney. They need to let her know.
Please again tell me about this massive violence....
Caps opened the barricades and the doors and welcomed them inside. I am not saying no violence occurred but this narrative that that was some huge unruly violent overrun of the capital is a lie
These people are livid to the point of insanity ... not over a “riot” or “insurrection,” but because of the dismissive way a bunch of clowns sacked the Capitol and figuratively crapped all over the hallowed halls of our corrupt, useless government.
No different than her dad and those like him.
Great job Wyoming, Utah, Kentucky, Texas, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and a few others.
Trump won MILLIONS of more votes than any other republican in history, scored more minority voters than any republican since 1960. He actually grew the party. What these idiots want to do is shrink it back down to the point where they will NEVER be in control again, and I think that is what they really like. Republicans seem to always want to be in the minority so that they can never be held responsible for anything, good, bad or indifferent. They can get invited to all the best cocktail parties, collect their share (smaller) of the graft, and get all the perks of office, but have none of the real responsibility.
The destruction of the GOP is nearly completed. They know which side the butter is breaded.
Yup. The cowardly f**ks committed suicide. I sure would have hated to have had them in a foxhole with me.
I wonder if Cheney’s intention to vote actually represent the will of her constituents, as opposed to being e.g. a power play for her own benefit, but, against the wishes of her constituents.
I will vote for parties or independents who, if they wish, may form coalitions with the Quislings. I will never vote Republican again. People will say “lesser of two evils”. Look around us at the result of “lesser of two evils”. And we ain’t seen nothing yet!
