Last night ABC’s Boston Legal was packed full of political jabs. Lawyer Denny Crane (played by William Shatner) was placed on the "No Fly List" and when Alan Shore (played by James Spader) asked if Crane has called for help, his response was, "Well, I can’t get anybody. I called Tom Delay, his number’s disconnected. Foley has got his hands full, Frist said, "Don’t take it personally." I called Clarence Thomas; his office said he was indisposed." I have the distinct impression that two of the main characters, close buddies Denny Crane and Alan Shore, will soon have a 'brokeback mountain' episode. The writers have already had them sleeping in the same room on a fishing trip, then sharing a bed to combat Alan's 'night terrors'. I usually like Boston Public. Tonight, one of the fictional cases is a woman suing the US Army for fraud that resulted in her brother's death in Iraq. In one portion of the "trial" an Army sergeant is trapped into admitting that under the Stop-Loss program, the soldier's military commitment was extended to the year 2031. I couldn't stop laughing.

Sunday's episode of [Boston Legal] series starring James Spader is about the censorship issues raised when a high school principal tries to block students' access to a cable news channel. In Kelley's original script, the network in question was News Corp.'s Fox News Channel. But that script didn't pass muster with the standards department at Walt Disney Co.'s ABC, which ordered Kelley to remove multiple references to Fox News.
