Was this part of any real episode of Boston Legal? I haven’t watched it in a long time, partly due to busy-ness and partly because I get sick of all the liberal poop I have to sit through to get to the laughs.

We (I?) know it’s not pro-2A, but it’s satisfying to watch, because instead of cowering in terror as the politicians feel we should, the would-be victim successfully defends himself.
Of course, in addition to the smart-assedness, the knee/foot/foot stuff is just ridiculous. A couple rounds to central body mass, then evaluate whether the threat is removed.

You're absolutely correct. The final line is the kicker. Sweet land of Liberty Valance. To cut to the chase, the scene is equating Denny Craine and any other gun toting citizen with Liberty Valance (i.e. a heartless bully if you watch the movie)
With that said, it's still hillarious.
