EASTERN WISCONSIN — Rural Wisconsin is crossed with state highways, but you might not recognize them. Two-lane country roads dotted with red barns, granaries, and farmhouses, where passing is nearly always permitted if you feel the urge to tear around the loaded semis and tankers that rule these parts. Shiloh Dairy is nowhere near the freeway, but Route 10 will take you within a stone’s throw. Nestled into the rolling countryside of Wisconsin, 25 miles west of Lake Michigan and the same south of Green Bay, Gordon Speirs keeps more than 4,000 head of cattle here.

Trump the killer. Biden the working-class hero—if there's time to "reprogram" voters to see him that way. That was CNN's hyper-partisan twofer during New Day's 8 am hour this morning. Co-host Alisyn Camerota opened with a jarring choice of words to announce the latest COVID stats: "900 Americans killed on Thursday. U.S. nearing 200,000 Americans killed." But notice the chyron that was simultaneously displayed: "Biden Blasts Trump Pandemic Response as 'Nearly Criminal'" Suddenly, CNN's choice of words made sense! Who "killed" those people? Why, the "nearly criminal" guy, of course! Get the rest of the story, and view the video...

SCRANTON – This northeastern Pennsylvania city is charming. You might even consider it gorgeous, if you appreciate the remarkably well-preserved old-world charm that industrial cities carved into their grids at the start of the 20th century. In the past ten years, Scranton has gone through a renaissance that brought new life to the old buildings of its bustling past and a surge in construction of downtown apartments and storefronts, according to Jeff Brauer, a political science professor and city-planning expert at nearby Keystone College. Unfortunately, he said, no one planned for what would happen after the construction ended. “This is...
  • Does Racism Lurk Behind Every Blue-Collar Vote For Hillary?

In the wake of Obama’s struggle with securing white blue-collar voters of the Democratic Party, many left wing commentators as well as some mainstream media journalists, have found particular solace in explaining his lack of appeal to certain segments of what was once the bedrock coalition of the party, as a result of either explicit or implicit racism. We have all heard the conspiratorial and hidden message refrains: any attempt to get out and secure the blue-collar white vote is blowing the “race” dog-whistle; arguments about Obama’s “electability” are, at root, code words for the country is not ready to...
