1897: A crowd of over 10,000 greets the black soldiers of the 25th Infantry Division’s “Bicycle Corps” (featured image) as they ride into St. Louis’ Forest Park, completing a 41-day, 1,900-mile trip from Fort Missoula, Montana. 1944: Thanks to a custom-built landing vehicle known as the “Doodlebug,” specially modified to carry ladders that allows vehicles to scale rocky shorelines, the Fourth Marine Division avoids the heavily defended beaches on Tinian and catches the island’s Japanese defenders off guard. By August 1, the island is secured and Seabees begin construction on the runways that the B-29s Enola Gay and Bock’s Car...

A man has died after reportedly filming himself swallowing poisonous centipedes and geckos alive. The Chinese vlogger, named only by his surname Sun, live-streamed himself carrying out the stomach-churning challenge, which he had hoped would gain him more online followers. The 35-year-old is said to have been found lifeless by his girlfriend when she went to check on him at his flat in the eastern city of Hefei. He was later pronounced dead. Sun had also been filming himself drinking large amounts of alcohol, as well as eating mealworms for the platform DouYu, where he had 15,000 followers.

Here’s a bunch of horror stories from the Canadian health care system that Bernie Sanders wants the U.S. to copy Bernie Sanders recently said the following regarding his health care plan:“The system is going to work similarly to what exists in Canada, and what we are going to see is an expansion of Medicare where almost all doctors are now in Medicare to cover every man, woman, and child in this country.â€Since Sanders want the U.S. to copy the Canadian system of health care, here are some examples of what he is talking about:When Robert Bourassa, the premier of Quebec, Canada,...

any have argued that the modern Democratic Party has all but abandoned the white middle- and working-class voters that used to form the core of the party’s constituency in favor of minorities, young voters, and other demographics. Though some on the left deny it, their own words and actions only confirm the reality that white voters in “flyover country” have been written off by the Democrats. The Washington Free Beacon reported on yet another instance in which a Democratic operative has all but admitted that fact. That political operative is David Atkins, a regional director for the California Democratic Party,...

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because The Campaign Never Ends) Robert Mueller failed miserably in his mission for the Deep State this morning. His assigned mission today was of course to create in a few hours what he could not find during his 20-month long Witch Hunt: The pretense for impeaching President Donald Trump (I still never tire of typing those three glorious words). Rather than carry out his assigned duties, Mueller instead presented the stark reality of a doddering, bumbling figurehead who doesn’t even understand what his duties as special counsel were, or of what the final report with...

This week, I looked at some striking parallels between the ratification of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (arguably the first major piece of gun control ever passed in America), and how modern politicians approach pushing new gun control tactics today. The NFA was fraught with ignorant legislative texts, draconian taxes to be levied against regular Americans, and outright bans and restrictions on firearms and accessories that were never discussed when the bill was even written. Proponents of the NFA, including then-Attorney General Homer Cummings, used four key tactics to push the NFA to Federal law: 1. A false sense...

Back in 2010, I wrote a piece for the Martin Center entitled Bad Sociology, Not Law bemoaning the marginalization of common law doctrine in the American law school curriculum. My point then was that, increasingly, law students were just learning about legal doctrine in their classes rather than being called upon to master the prevailing legal doctrine itself in all its complexities. Put differently, law teachers are devoting more classroom time to policy (what should be) and less to the prevailing law’s basic anatomy (what is). At Harvard Law School, for example, Agency, Trusts, Evidence, Business Associations, and Family Law...

After being on the job for only nine months, CEO Leana Wen was abruptly fired this week. While Len claims to have been "blind sided" by the move, Planned Parenthood spokesperson Adora Slaughter insisted the firing "should not have been a surprise. The number of abortions we've performed has gone down on her watch. Several states have enacted severe restrictions on abortions performed after a fetal heartbeat is detected. The final straw was Wen's assertion that only women can get pregnant and have abortions. This effectively undermines our opportunity to make up for lost business by performing abortions on trans-gender...

Sit down, my people, and read the craziest true story you will read this year or maybe even this decade. It is written by a journalist named Kera Bolonik, who has made an extremely complicated story comprehensible, in the sense that she recalls a logical progression of events. Nothing else about it makes sense. It’s a story about a liberal Harvard Law professor who is a world-historical boob — and about how two grifters (a transwoman and his best friend) stole his house and used Title IX to further ruin his life. In 2015, a mysterious young woman named Maria-Pia...

Behold the madness of crowds - as if you could avoid it if you wanted to: Dateline Berkeley: – Natural gas outlawed for all new construction. I’m assuming these do-gooders think they’re saving the environment. By taking one of the cheapest and cleanest burning fuels off the market.Note the “Off Fossil Fuels” power couple in the backI guess they’re going to generate all that additional electricity load with wind and solar, as we know they won’t be allowed to use nuclear, coal or natural gas. Then, when they run out of electricity the overlords can demand a takeover of the...

People who had sprayed bears assured me it works, but I also learned things that changed the way I thought about it. Blowback is one aspect I never considered. As a state wildlife biologist, Dave Battle has pepper-sprayed black bears dozens of times in hazing situations. A few years ago he found himself on the receiving end. Battle was called to deal with a problem bear, a young black bear, at a home in a wooded Anchorage neighborhood. It's a situation he's familiar with and he had a good idea how things would play out. "I figured I'd spray it...

Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends) Hey, remember how Robert Mueller said he didn’t want to testify before congress, and that if he did, his testimony would not say anything that isn’t in his report? – Yeah, don’t count on that being the case today. Mueller is, after all, our National Inquisitor, a certified agent of the Deep State, a snake with 30 years’ experience swimming around in the glop of the D.C. Swamp. Nothing he says is ever real, meaningful or bound by the strictures of what we normal people naively refer to as the “truth.” So,...

Well, it certainly didn’t take long for Keith Raniere to find out what the rest of his life is going to be like… Shortly after being returned to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) after his stunning conviction on all charges, Raniere got jumped by three Mexican inmates. Metropolitan Detention Center No word yet on whether any of them suffered any injuries but we do have a scorecard for the former Vanguard: – Multiple bruises – A couple of cracked ribs – A broken toe – Lots of tears The “good news” is that he got to spend a few days...

So if you missed it, a bunch of "toxic masculine" men rescued a guy in a flipped-over pickup truck the other day. Here's the 90 second video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGi_xUzuf4c Here's my take on it. Some more tweaked photos:

Last week, at the invitation of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, I spoke to the Senate Judiciary Committee about Google’s having placed more than 60 Prager University videos on its restricted list. ast week, at the invitation of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, I spoke to the Senate Judiciary Committee about Google’s having placed more than 60 Prager University videos on its restricted list. Any family that filters out pornography and violence cannot see those particular videos on YouTube (which is owned by Google); nor can any school or library. This statement is as much about what I and PragerU stand for...

President Obama addresses troops at Fort Bragg to mark the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq. WaPo factcheck's Biden's claim for blame- er....credit: “I made sure the president turned to me and said, ‘Joe, get our combat troops out of Iraq.’ I was responsible for getting 150,000 combat troops out of Iraq, and my son was one of them.”— Former vice president Joe Biden, at a Democratic presidential candidate debate, Miami, June...

On Sunday evening, Miriam Ben-Shalom, the first lesbian to be reinstated to the U.S. Army after being booted over her sexual orientation, told PJ Media she had been banned from Facebook for 30 days. Her crime? Saying that lesbians like her are not interested in intercourse with males who have male anatomy. She has been outspoken against transgender activists, who — among other things — insist that males who identify as women are really women, so lesbians must be romantically interested in them.
