“There ought to be a law against that!” From no smoking laws in public places to seat belt laws in private vehicles, there seems to be a law for everything. It reminds me of Ralphie’s brother in “A Christmas Story.” I walk out of my front door, and I find myself wrapped up and knocked over by a multitude of laws, with no recourse but to writhe on the ground screaming, “I can’t get up. I CAN’T GET UP!”

David Hume was a Scottish philospoher well known for his attack on the principle of causality - the principle that nothing can occur or exist without a cause. He believed that although one event (set of impressions) always preceded another, this did not prove that the first event caused the second. The constant conjunction of two events, he said, built up the expectation that the second event would take place after the first. But this was nothing more than a strong belief or habit of mind taught by experience. One could never prove that there were causal connections among impressions....

CONFER: Values do matter in public service Public officials and sex. They seem to go hand in hand. It’s probably because absolute power not only corrupts absolutely, it perverts absolutely, too. Throughout history those in power have been have abused it to satisfy their most carnal urges, either gaining praise for their actions (JFK and Marilyn) or having their reigns rocked by controversy (Bill Clinton and Monica). Such impropriety can be seen at all levels of government. I don’t know if it’s a sign of the times, but it seems to be getting worse; just look at how many sex...

Two very different stories surfaced this week that add to the hundreds of examples we have of liberalism’s failures and lies. The first involves southeast Asia. Those who lived through the Vietnam War and its aftermath remember how often the left-wing politicos and supporters constantly ridiculed the idea of a domino effect (mass murders throughout southeast Asia) if we left Vietnam abruptly – and have spent the last 32 years denying the killing fields of Cambodia, Laos and Thailand – as well as in Vietnam itself. It is the current generation of these same liars who are calling for an...

Well, after posting this picture of a screenshot of a WORD file I made showing my little stickers, and the responses I've received, I've decided to make a thread for it. Now, before someone starts with the, "BOTH parties are to blame!" replies, I know. However, this is an election year. We all know that the democrats will NOT make the gas prices any cheaper. At least our side tries. As soon as I can find a file host, I'll put a link to the WORD file on this thread. Also, if anyone reading this can come up with even more good,...

MOSCOW – President Bush and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia — “two old war horses,” as Mr. Bush put it on Friday at the NATO summit – are meeting for talks this weekend in Russia. How can the two reach compromises, given the many tensions that have arisen in their relationship? We put that question to the Russian blogosphere, seeking the opinions of Russians about the options for the two leaders, who are both ending their second terms. The comments were collected on the Russian-language blog that is operated by the Moscow bureau of The New York Times. The...

So Gordon Ramsey is back and he's still cussing. "Hell's Kitchen" 2008 premiered on 4/1/08 and fifteen would be chefs were introduced to the viewing audience and one hapless fellow, the ONLY one without an official cooking background, was sent packing. We've got a review along with pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet. Also, Guest Writer Michelle almost kills herself but she only ended up making a big stink.

However, if Jews betray Obama and he loses, Africans worldwide would consider it a betrayal to the whole African people and will never forgive world Jewry. In retaliation, (eye for eye, remember!) Africa would consider expelling all Jews from Africa who have been mining African Gold and Diamond and enriching themselves for many centuries. It was African gold and diamond that built international finance, trade and banking that the Jews (Rothschild, Warbug, Rockefeller and others) dominate. It was African gold and diamond that built Jewish banks and wealth worldwide. ...Jews also took all Egyptian and African science, technology and religious knowledge...

I find this commercial extremely offensive. To compare global warming kooks with men who sacrificed and saw their fellow soldiers be blown apart on the beaches is sickening. It's just as bad to compare someone who marched in a protest march in the 60’s with those at Normandy.--FReeper, HereInTheHeartland, from the 4/4/08 thread "Storming the beaches of Normandy and the climate change crisis" Gore launches $300 mln climate change campaign Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:10pm BST: By Deborah Zabarenko, Environment Correspondent WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Al Gore, former U.S. vice president, Academy Award winner and Nobel peace laureate, on Monday launched...

I have to hand it to Rush. I thought Operation Chaos would amount to nothing more than keeping Hillary in the race. However, Operation Chaos has metastasized through the DUmp at an alarming rate, amplifying their paranoia to the point that any statement from Her Thighness will be played over and over, forward and backward, in hopes of finding another "misstatement." Friday marked the fortieth anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hillary, as with all political candidates on historic events from modern memory, had to relate how she reacted to the news. So when, in...

Charlton Heston, 84, an Academy Award-winning actor who starred in epics such as "Ben-Hur" and "The Ten Commandments" and then became a conservative political activist and influential president of the National Rifle Association, died last night at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. A family spokesman did not release the cause of death, but Heston said in 2002 that he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease. In a message at the time, he told fans, "I've lived my whole life on the stage and screen before you. I've found purpose and meaning in your response. For an actor there's no...

Brought to you by Barackobama.com, the official Web site of Barack Obama's campaign. This site is under Obama's editorial control. Israelis fighting Israeli Apartheid By Tony Wicher - Oct 11th, 2007 at 12:31 pm EDT But what’s clear enough is that for the past 40 years, there has been only one state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, and that state has been Israel. And Israel has been an apartheid state: Like South Africa, it’s a democracy ruled by law for one group of people, and a military-colonial regime for another. Those who complain about it the use...

When liberals don't like a policy, they turn it into a giant boogeyman. The liberal response to the cold war was to run around screaming for 30 years that the nuclear missiles were about to fall and wipe out the entire planet. Endless tedious novels, movies and songs were produced based on the premise that we were all about to die. At the heart of that obsession was the idea of "Nuclear Winter", a concept which had as little credibility as human centered global warming does.

Ed Schultz is a hypocrite or does not read newspapers?Recently, the ill winds of political hypocrisy blew through the Obama supporter camp. At Obama campaign event, Ed Schultz, syndicated radio “personality” and Obama supporter, referred to Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) as a “warmonger”. Mr. Schultz then compounded the remark with the following: “He voted for this war. He’s a perpetrator of the war. He’s an advocate of the war,” Schultz said. “In my personal definition, that’s a warmonger.” Meanwhile back at the Obama staff lair, there is an anemic effort underway to distance themselves from the remark.

A motion to proclaim a 40-hour moratorium on homicides in honor of the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination was vigorously debated by the Los Angeles City Council before the idea was shelved. The ban had been proposed by author and political commentator Earl Ofari Hutchinson as “a first small step toward the eradication of violence in our city. We start with 40-hours. Once we see we can do without murders for that small period, we go for 40-days, then 40-weeks, etc. Eventually, there will be no more killings. That would be the ultimate tribute to the memory of...
