This may look like I am trying to "bash" the church, but I have the actual references to all the things I bring up here and encourage Mormons or researchers to verify the accuracy of these statements. This does not look like the Mormonism that the LDS Church portrays in it's TV commercials and public service announcements. Please use historical references if you wish to refute anything here. Please do not write any more "testimonies" to me. Joseph Smith's ethicsThis is quoted from 'The Mormon Hierarchy - Origins of Power' by Dr. D. Michael Quinn, Signature Books 1994. I highly...

First It Was "Wusses," Now It's "Idiots" Gov. Ed Rendell blew up during a taped interview set to air Sunday on the venerable TV news show "60 Minutes," calling on-air personalities "idiots" and "simpletons," when they asked him about the proliferation of casino gambling across the country.

To ring in 2011, let’s raise a toast in unison to proclaim the most frequently made New Year’s resolution. Then promptly break it. Yes, it’s the season for the annual American vow to lose weight. But first, let’s argue about just how much leverage the government should exert to squeeze us back into our skinny jeans.(snip)Being poor does not have to equate so strongly with obesity. It didn’t used to.

The following is a short list of U.S. companies caught with illegal aliens in their employ: -Dunkin Donuts...George Valvanis, 53, of New Hampshire knowingly hired illegal aliens at several Dunkin’ Donuts stores in and around Portland, Maine. A suspected illegal alien was arrested Monday after a vehicle chase involving Angelina County and Nacogdoches County authorities. A Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission officer attempted to pull over Osman Estuardo Carpio, 33, Monday evening at U.S. 69 north and FM 2021, as he was a suspect in an earlier hit-and-run, according to Angelina County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Bryan Holley. “He hit someone and there wasn’t major damage to the vehicle, but the lady called 911 when he left the scene,” Holley said. “We put out an attempt-to-locate on the vehicle and within a couple of minutes he was spotted.” Carpio...

Complaining that the federal government has fallen down on the job, Georgia lawmakers are putting a big bull’s-eye on illegal immigration this year. The state’s legislative session won't begin until Monday. But lawmakers got started weeks ago, “prefiling” bills that would block illegal immigrants from attending state colleges and punish government contractors who hire them. Yet more legislation is on the way. Much more. A pair of Republican lawmakers is preparing to file omnibus legislation in each chamber some time in the coming days. On Tuesday, Rep. Matt Ramsey -- a co-chairman of a special study committee on immigration -- outlined...

The immigration debate returned to the state Capitol on Tuesday as civil rights activists condemned legislators who are crafting tougher state immigration laws. “These misguided legislators are pushing the same snake oil laws,” said Ed Romo, local vice president of the League of United Latin American Citizens. Romo and other civil rights activists urged legislators to reject immigration proposals being eyed by certain Republicans. State Rep. Randy Terrill, R-Moore, is expected to join legislators from at least five other states today in Washington to announce plans to file bills making their states' immigration laws the same or tougher than Arizona's....

A Top 10 Of The Left’s Most Ridiculous Moments Last Year 2010. I remember when I was growing up how 2010 sounded so futuristic. And now it’s come and gone. As a kid, I used to think that by the year 2010 we’d have flying cars and that everything would be so space-age. What do we have to show for 2010? The iPad. The Chevy Volt. Those little gel toilet dots that supposedly keep you from having to clean the toilet as often. So much for a wide-open future of technological innovation. At the same time, during my politically precocious...

I'm kicking off the New Year with a new blog. The main purpose of "The Coupon Whisperer" won't be to provide hot coupon tips, although I will be doing that. The primary purpose of this blog is to provide you with entertaining "war stories" from the field. Think of it as adventures in couponing. And so we start of with our first story...the strange story of Coupon Mike...I met Coupon Mike earlier this year at his job when I was introduced to him by a mutual friend, who worked at the same place, because of our common interest in...

Games are a natural part of life. Think about it. Even in nature, pups, cubs and kittens play, practice and sharpen the skills they will use as adults. Littermates will tumble around, with fake growls and go in for a “kill” with a pretend bite to the neck. The puppy on his back, knows he’s lost the game. Throughout history, there were games that displayed strength, stamina and skills in every culture. Today, those who can play games to display their strength, stamina and skill are given multi-million dollar contracts– and we pay big bucks to watch them. However, though...

They’re going to criticize me no matter what I do, so I might as well dance.” – Bristol Palin Race car great Mario Andretti once said, “If everything’s under control then you’re going too slow.” In Alaska, we have two speeds in the summertime: fast and faster – that’s because Alaskan summers are so short and sweet. We always try to cram it all in before the leaves change and snow flies again. Seasons change so quickly up here that we’re full-speed ahead to capture every minute under the Midnight Sun doing what we love to do in the great...

Network news and the internet were abuzz with the report and video by Los Angeles CBS affiliate KCBS of a reported missile launch late Monday afternoon -- around 5 PM. Both the Air Force and the Navy denied they had any missiles launches at the time. According to CBS News the Defense Department remains baffled. "Nobody within the Department of Defense that we've reached out to has been able to explain what this contrail is, where it came from," Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said. "So far, we've come up empty with any explanation." And they go on: "The FAA...
