[history]
A judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a DEA agent who claimed the agency leaked a video that showed him accidentally shooting himself while demonstrating gun safety in Florida.
The 2004 video was shown on national television and used as fodder by late-night talk show hosts.

I love how he says “Bring the other gun out, Brian” and the natives start getting restless.

The Glock 40. Most powerful handgun in the DEA arsenal. Probably the world.

What’s funny is him playing on with his talk like nothing happened and saying he is going to bring out another firearm and the kids are screaming “no!”

You would be amazed the kinds of self inflicted s$%t some people will sue for. A guy in another agency brought a personal weapon to work to show his coworker. While handling the gun they have an AD. He filed a claim against the government for damage to his hearing.

The "AD" moniker needs to go, there are very few "Accidental Discharges" with weapons... almost all are "Negligent Discharges" as there is usually a finger on the trigger... just sayin. ;-)

Wonder if detective Griffin (from the Meridian, MS area) was there? Anyone know of this Griffin guy or the general area where he is working now? lol
Someone locate the guy and I have a VERY interesting thing to reveal to him about the ridiculous stop he and his buddies made about 20 years ago.

what’s wrong with an atf agent putting a gun in his ear? he appears to be following gun safety laws just fine.. “always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction.” i contend that that IS a safe direction.. for the whole country.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
That is my rant right there, you just beat me to it. “Accident” implies that little could be done about it. This was a Negligent Discharge, as are 95+% of all events described as ADs. Probably 99+%, really.

I had an Accidental Discharge once. I had a post-64 Model 70 Winchester. I was hunting Elk and was taking a shot at one when I realized the safety was on. I flipped the safety off and the weapon fired with no finger on the trigger. We were able to recreate this, but only with some reloads that I had gotten from a friend. Pull the trigger with the safety on, flip the safety off and the weapon fired.
