Kay Miculek, matriarch of the Miculek shooting family, was born into shooting. One might think that she came into it after marrying champion shooter Jerry Miculek. But she was raised by a dad who was a gunsmith and was himself a nationally ranked Bullseye shooter. Miculek and her brother were on their high school rifle team. She moved away, but went back home to Louisiana in her 30s. Her brother suggested they shoot the Bianchi Cup, and that’s where she met Jerry. They began traveling and shooting, having a wonderful time. Then a daughter, Lena, appeared late in life. "I...

Last week the White House announced that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent a letter via South Korea to President Trump sending ‘warm’ regards and a request for a second summit following their historic Singapore meeting earlier this year. The request has generated much speculation among Western and Asian diplomatic and geopolitical circles as to what it means in regards to the primary objective of the U.S., South Korea, Japan, and other concerned parties: The complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. So, does the ongoing flouting of U.S. and international sanctions indicate that Kim isn’t serious about denuclearization and never...

Yesterday, Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein claimed that an anonymous woman may have accused Brett Kavanaugh of doing something in high school. While the fake news media are having a field day, the truth is that only two Democrats have seen the letter, the person who wrote the letter is refusing to come forward, and we haven't been told what the letter claims, but we have been told that it dates back to when Kavanaugh was in high school. I'm so old that I remember when people like Feinstein were telling us that Obama's regular, and criminal, use of drugs in...

The Marlin being reasonably priced, very reliable and easy-to-use rifle makes it very popular among the hunters and gun enthusiasts. Probably you’ve noticed that the industry of firearm safety products is largely an industry of electronic gadgets. Handgun safes are often little more than toys. So, in response to complaints I’ve received about unreliable electronic safes, I recently looked at AMSEC's Heavy-Duty Pistol Safe, model PS1210HD, which features a mechanical lock. In one sense, I could summarize my findings and state simply: "It’s great. If you need a handgun safe, buy this one." The safe has outstanding features, including a scratch-resistant finish, a protective housing for the lock, and reinforcement for the hinge at the back. The entire box is...

This past week I asked a friend at the White House about how the president was holding up against the onslaught of media attacks. "They didn't even deliver a glancing blow," was the response. It wasn't for a lack of trying. Has any president in modern times been the target of such a Blitzkrieg of orchestrated assaults -- from John McCain's funeral turned anti-Trump scrum to Bob Woodward's discredited new book trashing the president to the media infatuation with the anonymous New York Times op-ed by a disgruntled federal employee who hates President Trump. Here we go again. Trump is...

If you've seen a Welrod for the first time, you might not realize what it is. When disassembled, it resembles a piece of industrial equipment, the sort of thing you might find in an obscure corner of the hardware store next to caulk dispensers or hot glue guns. In fact, it was nicknamed the "bicycle pump" by those who used it. It also has no easily-identifiable markings or symbols on its plain metal body. This historically-significant weapon has a very specific purpose: silent use behind enemy lines. Although the secretive nature of this gun makes tracking its use difficult, reports...

Far left George Soros related Think Progress reported over the weekend about former President Obama’s event in Anaheim, California – ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA — Former President Obama made his first campaign stop of the midterm elections in Orange County, California Saturday to stump for seven Democratic House candidates running in districts currently held by Republicans but that Hillary Clinton won in 2016. About 750 people attended the event at Anaheim Convention Center, where Obama delivered a short speech centered on unity and the “politics of hope.” And, after a story about getting kicked out of Disneyland when he was caught smoking...

Starting? When did it stop? The real question is: who’s paying for it now? Space has just come to the forefront because we now recognize how critical Space has become to our life. Civil space technology is now WAY ahead of our military. Strangely this is more a race between US Venture Capitalists and the Russians, Chinese, North Korea and Iran. The military is along for the ride. The Space Race has become one where our commercial companies are now developing and providing capabilities at a price that our military can only dream of and foreign country militaries just read...

Hypocrisy: If former President Barack Obama is anything, he was a good student of his Marxist master Bill Ayers, skillfully employing the principles of ‘revolution.’ One of those principles, which is laid out in Ayers’ book, “Rules for Radicals,” the Marxist ‘bible’ Obama knows so well, is to isolate your political opponent by deflecting and projecting onto him/her your own sins. Obama is the master Jedi when it comes to this tactic.

As an avid shooter, I’ve had the pleasure (or displeasure) of shooting at a wide variety of ranges throughout the country. Suffice it to say, the operations and rules vary greatly from one range to the next. They range from “Hold my beer while I shoot” type establishments to places with a rules manual as thick as a New York City phone book. As with most places that are more “rule-intensive,” the most likely reason they have so many regulations is because of a phenomenon that I refer to as the LCD factor. LCD stands for lowest common denominator. -You...

In days of yore, I might have pointed my doubters – usually women and seniors – toward a SIG P238, a Walther PK 380 or, more recently, a Glock 42. But each of those came with caveats related either to cost (SIGs are pricey), functionality (Walthers are a pain to break down) or useability (for better or worse, beginners are skittish about Glock’s lack of a manual external safety – thankfully, most of them eventually get over that!). Now, however, I smile slyly and trot out Smith & Wesson’s most recent contribution to the concealed carry market – the M&P...

Having a 12 gauge shotgun should be on your list for home defense. However, for shooters that are not well versed or are timid with the 12 gauge notorious recoil. That kick can intimidate many gun enthusiasts. There are some ways to managing this recoil. The first is coined "hardware" which means modifying the gun or using a special accessories design to reduce the recoil. The second is using sound technique-based means utilizing good techniques while holding and shooting the 12 gauge shotgun. Hardware Solutions One of the the first “hardware” of the many ways to reduce the recoil to...

President Trump’s Supreme Court pick Judge Brett Kavanaugh testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday morning. Democrats and screaming protesters interrupted the hearing for the first half hour. Judge Kavanaugh has not even been sworn in yet! It was all planned. Democrats plotted the coordinated protest over the holiday weekend. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) led a phone call and Committee members are executing now, reported NBC’s Kasie Hunt.
