Pleasing activist groups bent on revenge, San Francisco's Board Of Supervisors is now lobbying the Federal Communications Commission to pull the license of Bill O'Reilly's San Francisco affiliate KNEW-AM, according to Bay Area radio columnist Brad Kava. The move, in the form of an official city resolution, comes after the FOX News Channel host's recent controversial comments about San Francisco's increasingly extreme stances on issues such as military recruitment. Last month, East Bay-based protestors from a group called the Youth Media Council picketed Clear Channel Radio's (KNEW's owner) San Francisco studios, demanding conservative shows be removed from the airwaves. Sure...

Did MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" pull the plug on a guest because she refused to call for Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly's firing? The day before the election, O’Reilly interviewed Angela Alioto, former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The topic: The city's Proposition I - a resolution declaring that "the people of San Francisco oppose the federal government's use of public schools to recruit students for service in the military." While O'Reilly was aghast over the proposition, Alioto complained the military was going into junior high school and "recruiting 12-year-olds." On his radio show the...

Anyone catch O'Reilly's program last night? In one segment, he had on two guys - one was an ex CIA whom I have seen before on FNC. They both said - one - the citizens of the United States need to wake up and realize what and who we are fighting and - two - the Bush administration needs to be better at articulating what the stakes are. Both said this President is kicking arse and taking names but is horrible in explaining what it has done, what is going on, and what it plans to do. I tend to...

Let the obligatory thunderous, self-righteous editorializing over Bill O'Reilly's recent San Francisco tirades begin, the Radio Equalizer can't wait. Why? Because Bugs Bunny will prove them all wrong. How is that, you say (with a puzzled look)? To put to rest the idea television talk shows have made the medium less "responsible" and "civil", only Bugs can help. Think cable talk shows are over the top? Just get a load of what passed for children's programming 50 years ago. The Radio Equalizer thanks Perry Simon for this history lesson, more on Bugs in a moment. Already, San Francisco County Supervisor...

Finally, a major media personality has the guts to express what many in the US have long felt: Left Coast cities such as San Francisco are anti-American to the core. Bill O'Reilly, speaking of the Irrelevant City's hostility toward military recruiters, said on Tuesday's Radio Factor (transcript from the Political Teen): O’REILLY: You know, if I’m the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, “Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you’re not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine....

Countering Air America's recent success claims by Al Franken over Bill O'Reilly, the Radio Equalizer yesterday heard from a talk radio executive with additional information on this supposed battle. As part of recent internal company research on the strength of various syndicated hosts, the programmer learned that while O'Reilly's radio success varies somewhat nationwide, he's a powerhouse in Boston. Heard in the Hub on Boston's WTKK-FM, O'Reilly turns out to be one of the market's strongest national programs, crushing competition from Air America's two area stations, WXKS-AM and WKOX-AM.

The move was prompted by efforts on the part of the Muslim community to include a day off for Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan. Students are still permitted to take days off for religious holidays. The school board decision will be revisited next year and could be amended. Still, the intersection of religion and public schools was irresistibly tailor-made for O'Reilly, to whom a cell phone is an X-rated sex toy. Only Faliero had voted against eliminating the days off. But when O'Reilly's gofers called to inquire whether she'd appear on a show with a man whose...

More AirAmeriSpam. Just email; I have not heard them do this on the air. Some excerpts (full text below): Happy Halloween from Air America. It’s Halloween and the right-wing is terrified…of you. ... This sounds like Tom Betz'post: "Limbaugh/Premier Radio smelling of fear?" They recycle some of the same Arbitron talking points. Then add a new bit about Franken's book selling better than Ann Coulter'a book. Then we get into fear tactics related to the latest Supreme Court nomination: ------------------------- ...if confirmed Alito could well change the balance of the high court for a generation to come. We at Air...

THE DANGER OF RUNNING VICARIOUSLY: Bill O'Reilly chews up and spits out the hillary clinton candidacy by Mia T, 10.27.05 (viewing movie requires Flash Player 7, available HERE) the principal being more worthless even than its phantom proxy, both alike unsubstantial, and the former shapeless to boot --Samuel Taylor Coleridge or the most part, missus clinton operates in absentia, by proxy. You rarely see her. You almost never hear her. (Think of it as the hillary! 2000 'listening tour' extended ad nauseam.) And in those rare instances where she does actually speak, the 'event' is always prearranged,...

Did anybody see The O'Reilly Factor tonight? Bill had on Susan Estrich, who was there to promote her book, The Case for Hillary. Whether your a fan of Bill or not, it was him at his best.Bill asked Susan where Hillary stands on Iraq, the border, and health care. Estrich couldn't give a straight answer to any of Bill questions and sounded horrible!BILL: Why does Senator Clinton support the war in iraq? SUASAN: Well, you know, that's an interesting question ......BILL: What about illegal immigration? SUSAN: She has taken a much tougher stance there as well. BILL: Susan, Susan, what's...

After chugging down a rancid carton of Air America Brand milk, well past its sell-by date, MSNBC's Eric Alterman concludes we're the network's real problem. Hope he didn't give them all of his lunch money. MSNBC NewsYes, it's a right-wing conspiracy to silence the "progressive" alternative, led by yours truly, Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. It couldn't have anything to do with $875,000 in shady taxpayer grant transfers from a Bronx-based community nonprofit, to the liberal network and resulting city investigation, right? Or that we proved (after producing a signed, notarized document) Al Franken knew about...

Last March, at a workshop aimed at empowering girls to confront bullies, I listened as girls recounted tales of being harassed and intimidated. One girl's voice cracked as she spoke of a student who cursed at her and tried to trip her in the hall of her school. We learned that bullying is "the unjust exercise of power of one individual to humiliate, frighten, denigrate or injure another." That day, a national expert said it's not just victims who have to stop bullies; bystanders need to speak up too; otherwise they're enabling the bullies. So today I'm standing up to...

I've been on vacation, and upon snapping on the TV this morning to check the forecast, I see Bill O'Reilly uneasily in the guest chair chatting it up with Katie Couric on The Today Show! To me, the world had turned upside down. Am I missing something? How long has this been going on? Is he a regular? From what I saw (in amazement), they briefly discussed the following: *His new book ("The O'Reilly Factor for Kids") *Harriet Miers (O'REILLY: "I say, 'Give her a chance!'" and "The right wing are a bunch of hippocrits because they complain about the...

Whether a cosmic coincidence or calculated strategy, something's clearly changed in talk radio. With three major stars giving rare interviews in the same week, listeners are wondering about these sudden, sometimes emotional outpourings. Whatever the reasons, we've gained a bit of insight into what makes Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Michael Savage tick. There's no doubt Sean Hannity got a major boost Tuesday from his candid televised discussion with Rush Limbaugh. Liberal complaints about the absence of co-host Alan Colmes should be met with laughter, since Colmes-bashing has long been a leftist spectator sport. Suddenly, they need him?

Now it's so bad that I spend an enormous amount of money protecting myself against evil," declares Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, who says his enemies have become so vicious that he's mulling retiring from his top-rated TV show. He has also hired bodyguards to protect himself. The liberal media establishment is mostly behind the rising tide of hatred because "it can't marginalize me," O'Reilly told Newsday's Verne Gay in a rare interview published Tuesday. Gay writes: "Almost exactly a year since he settled a sexual harassment lawsuit with former Fox News producer Andrea Mackris, the embattled life of O'Reilly...

...Gauging the animus against O'Reilly has always been a rough art, but by his own estimation "it's gotten worse. Now it's so bad that I spend an enormous amount of money protecting myself against evil."...the embattled life of O'Reilly has become an increasingly strange and scary one. As O'Reilly puts it, here are the facts: There are death threats. He has to hire bodyguards. He can't check into hotels with his family. People on the street with cell phones are stealth paparazzi, capable of snagging a picture one minute, then posting it on the Web the next. He adds that...

Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas appeared on The O'Reilly Factor via telephone tonight. When O'Reilly asked her if she had enough National Guard she informed him that "we don't need 'em. We have our own Police force and fire department. We can handle it." Quite a contrast to the inept Mayor of New Orleans.

I just finished watching the Phil Donahue/Bill O'Reilly debate on FOX News. As I listened to Phil spew out unintelligable conspiracy theories and overall lambast those who continued to support the War on Terror, one line jumped out at me. "Almost 2000 people have died." It got me thinking (don't worry, I'm not going soft on those terrorist scumbags.)...and one very big fact jumped out at me: the Left has lost the concept of sacrifice. Wait; let me rephrase that: they can't grasp it, and they never have. I'm not saying that the 1900+ deaths are insignificant. We should all...

Former television talk-show host Phil Donahue became involved in a heated shouting match last night with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly over continued U.S. involvement in Iraq. However, much of America was not able to see the verbal wrestling match, as breaking news of the landing of a crippled JetBlue flight in Los Angeles pre-empted a portion of "The O'Reilly Factor" during its live feed.

Bill O'Reilly on his show today compared himself to Martin Luther. This came from O'Reilly talking about his crusade against the news industry. He thinks he is the only one fighting against the bias in news.
