Bill is being very spot-on tonight wrapping up the weekend's events. "Talking Points" was great in saying individuals need to educate themselves and work hard, because the Govt. can't be relied upon to bail you out all the time. Newt Gingrich is on now, "race-baiting" issues coming up.

Hurricane Katrina wiped out "Camp Casey" and that could be a good or a bad thing, depending on your point of view. The storm diverted attention from Cindy Sheehan's anti-war protest in Crawford, Texas and caused President Bush to ditch his vacation and high-tail it back to Washington where, reports say, Ms. Sheehan will follow. Like the Terri Schiavo controversy a few months ago, the Cindy Sheehan saga contains some peril for ideologues, even though they might not know it. Smart conservatives realized that fanatical rantings about the health of Ms. Schiavo and criticism of a Florida judge who appeared...

Bill had an armed man on the phone from his store in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The man made an excellent point that if this were a coordinated terrorist attack, our nation is screwed.

Anti-war activists and far-left organizations have been galvanized by Cindy Sheehan's continuing protest outside President Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch. MoveOn.org has hopped on the bandwagon with a newspaper ad and Internet campaign. Air America hosts, all too happy to talk about something other than their own unpleasant political and financial woes, have embraced Sheehan. Dem activist Joe Trippi is plugging a "Meet with Cindy" website, which in turn plugs the Crawford Peace House. Even the "Hip Hop Caucus" has hitched a ride: On Wednesday, a coalition of anti-war groups in Washington called on Bush to speak with Sheehan, who they...

For months there had been a quiet buzz in both political and publishing circles surrounding "The Book" being written about Sen. Hillary Clinton. The scuttlebutt had it that New York Times best-selling author Edward Klein was in the final stages of a blockbuster expose of the former first lady, the likes of which could derail her 2008 presidential aspirations. "The Truth About Hillary" is now out, and it has lived up to its billing in the fireworks department. Except the controversy surrounds not Hillary Clinton but author Ed Klein, and the broadsides against him are coming primarily from conservatives, not...

In a Sunday, July 10, 2005, Los Angeles Times piece on the Live 8 concert and the activism of U2's Bono, written by pop music critic Robert Hilburn, the label "ultraconservative" was placed in front of the name of Fox News host/commentator Bill O'Reilly. Said the Times, "Bono has been so persuasive in his advocacy of debt relief for Africa that he has won the respect even of controversial, ultraconservative Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly." Well, today (Tue. July 12, 2005), the Times, in its "For the Record" space on page A2, had a little thing to say about that...

On Monday an angry Bill O’Reilly castigated U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon on the air for failing to appear on Fox News Channel’s "The O’Reilly Factor” and banned him from the show forever. What caused the Congressman to miss his time on the highest-rated talk show on cable TV may still be a mystery to Fox viewers. But NewsMax has uncovered some details of what happened. "He didn’t show up. He didn’t call. He didn’t do anything,” O’Reilly told viewers on Monday night, calling the Pennsylvania Republican’s no-show "grossly irresponsible.” "So he’s banned from ‘The Factor’ forever. And we thought you...

This week, a bunch of newspapers in places like Cincinnati and Pittsburgh tried to rally support for the beleaguered Howard Dean, and I am with them -- well, somewhat. The thing you've got to love about Howard Dean is that he is sincere in his hate. No phony he, Dean despises Republicans, and everything for which they stand. If it were up to Dean, those white, Christian layabouts would be shunned, scorned and mocked. Come to think of it, it is up to Dean. As the DNC chief, he is launching personal attacks against Republicans all over the place. Honestly,...

As distrust of the press grows, news articles are relentlessly scrutinized for bias, but almost no one is focusing on stories that are simply ignored. For instance, a May 18 report in the Afghan newspaper Kabul Weekly said the riots that killed 17 people were not about disrespect for the Koran in American detainment camps--they were a show of force by the Taliban and another fundamentalist group, Hezb-e Eslami. "These demonstrations were organized by the Taliban and their supporters, and only some naive people joined the protesters," the newspaper said. The BBC picked up the story on May 22, but...

We've got a Fifth Column right here at home. And now its getting stronger with the ACLU. For all of you who gave up on Oreilly, he did a great job tonite on the ACLU scumbags. The above is from Recovering Ex-Hippie on the post discussing the cameraman who caught the Marine doing his duty, saving his own life and his buddies lives. I wanted to speak about O’Reilly. Did anyone else watch his program last night. I watch it because I do not think there is anything else on. Last night was a contrast on how good he can...

One of the problems with demanding that the feds enforce immigration law is that you will immediately be branded a mean guy or gal. If you want to stop poor people from illegally coming to the land of milk and money, the USA, some of your fellow citizens will define you as insensitive, selfish, racist, ghastly and downright anti-Christian. Those are tough charges to digest.

The recent Dan Rather and Newsweek controversies hardly seem connected. But on closer examination, both incidents symbolize what has gone wrong with traditional news organizations. The old assumption was that opinion media — such as the National Review, The Nation and The New Republic — offer a slant on current events, but that major news outlets, outside of their designated opinion sections, do not. This commitment to disinterested reporting — and along with it the public's trust in mainstream media — has been shattered in recent years. It's easy to see why people no longer feel they can rely on...

The reemergence of Jane Fonda is causing a bit of angst, especially among some of the 2.4 million Americans who served in Vietnam. The liberal actress is selling a biographical book and stars in an upcoming movie with Jennifer Lopez. CNN has given Ms. Fonda almost as much airtime as the pope, and there is anger in the air. In July of 1972, Jane Fonda arrived in Hanoi and began a two-week tour that was used as propaganda by the North Vietnamese. Fonda made 10 radio broadcasts denouncing some Americans as "war criminals." Of course, no North Vietnamese or Viet...

I had no idea where to put this, so this is where it landed. I keep going with 'your opinion' until I got here. So, if it is in the wrong place, I apologize... What is up with this Ward Churchill guy and why hasn't someone REALLY SHUT HIM UP YET? I understand Freedom of Speech, but COME ON!! I was watching 'Talking Points' tonight with Bill O'Reilly, and he was speaking with Michael Faughnan, whose brother was killed in the 9/11 attacks ( which I know you all already know). What I want to know is why was he...
