O'Reilly Live thread (Sept 1, 2005) - US not ready for Katrina, are we ready for terrorists?
FoxNews Channel ^ | Sept. 01, 2005 | DTogo

Bill had an armed man on the phone from his store in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The man made an excellent point that if this were a coordinated terrorist attack, our nation is screwed.

Interesting point this man brings up. Despite being the lone Super Power with the largest military and several days to prepare for the worst, for the first fews days it would appear we remain unprepared to cope with the worst.

I would imagine that Al Qaeda and related organizations are taking notes. Is anyone in Washington?

I thought it was a pretty interesting statement. If a natural disaster can cause this kind of third-world reaction, what would a multi-city 9-11 strike do?

Why does Bush get the blame for this? Where is the Governor of the State and the Mayor of New Orleans?

I see shep smith is still whining maybe he should have been telling those people where to go.

The boy acts like he has never seen an accident on a freeway.

Well, I think it pretty telling that no terrorist organization has decided to attack us while we're still dealing with Katrina.

You should have heard Keith Oberman on MSNBC. He just slammed Condi Rice for seeing a comedy a few days ago- AFTER Katrina hit. He also slammed Bush for not reading a report about how a hurricane could affect N.O.

Is it me or does the left actually believe the President could have stopped the hurricane?

This only goes to show that Nature is greater than us all and there is nothing we can do about it. A Hurricane packs more of a punch than any terrorist can.

Man has tried to fight Nature since the dawn of time and has almost always come up on the losing side.

We can only hope that preparations are already being made for various terrorist scenarios, keepiing in mind that it's impossible to cover all the bases. We're not living in a perfect universe, nor do we have a crystal ball.

Just heard the head of FEMA on PBS, the problem with gangs and food is that there is 0 (zero) radio communication for the police. The chance that terrorists could shut down all the power to a single city with a group of people is much different than this flood's damage.

Exactly...

There are 100 Senators, 535 Representatives, 50 Governors, and like 8 million bureaucrats...And we had heard from about SIX of them

The left can only cast blame on the GOP. They still behave as if Clinton was/is blameless. And they always will.

Or some people slammed Bush because he ate some cake after the storm hit. And the cake had white frosting.

Any rationally thinking person knows we do not have a crystal ball. But the left thinks that the President not only has the crystal ball, but controls the weather, where it happens, and how much damage is caused.

Like the news has said - it is hard to rescue people who are shooting at you. When we sent rescuers after the tsunami we didn't face the caliber of criminals that we are now facing in New Orleans. There are a lot of factors involved but we can largely thank the liberal laws for the mess we are seeing in the aftermath of the hurricane. The police should have to right to shoot-to-kill when faced with the looting and rioting - that would not only put the whole thing to an end faster but it would rid the country of a lot of scum. The whole thing makes you ashamed of what some people in this country are capable of.

Hell, we couldn't handle a couple of boneheads riding around in a heap with a high powered sniper rifle. I shudder to think what a few highly motivated jihadis could do under the same circumstances.

They know damn well the Mayor, Police Chief and Governor are responsible for this mess after the hurricane but they think we are too stupid to know that!

No one can prepare against nature.

We can't infilitrate, kill or imprison her.

I don't get this woman now. She's complaining they didn't get a HOT meal? Any food they got was far more than most. And she complained they kept being given water. I just don't get the mentality of some of these people.

O'R needs a course on the constitution and the use of the Nat'l Guard. The man thinks they are the cure for toe fungus, for Christ's sake. What a f'in idiot. Even Shep smith has a clue and BO'R refused to accept his comments.

It is Bush's fault for not getting 2 million NG troups to man every street corner. Of course, they had no structure set up to support.

Has anyone addressed the hundreds of people who are drug dependent that are just now coming down. Gonna be Fun.

Hey, Bill! Should the NG provide drugs to these human dregs.
