WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Facebook Inc (FB.O) asked a judge on Monday to dismiss the U.S. government's revised antitrust case that seeks to force the social media giant to sell Instagram and WhatsApp. Facebook said in a court filing that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) had failed to provide a "plausible factual basis for branding Facebook an unlawful monopolist." The company added it appears the FTC "had no basis for its naked allegation that Facebook has or had a monopoly." The social media giant asked that the lawsuit be dismissed with prejudice, which would make it harder for the...

Still reeling from the coordinated hit job two weeks ago by “whistleblower” Frances Haugen who appeared on 60 Minutes days before testifying before the U.S. Senate about the social media giant’s practices, Facebook issued a statement Monday decrying a “gotcha campaign” while warning about another hit job involving leaked documents being reported by thirty journalists allegedly being coordinated by the same public relations team behind the previous hit. Facebook’s statement was posted to Twitter: “We expect the press to hold us accountable, given our scale and role in the world. But when reporting misrepresents our actions and motivations, we believe...

ransomnote: You'd think everyone would know by now that 'fact checkers' are owned and operated by the Big Tech censors and their allies. But still, I sometimes get some posting 'Factcheck.org' to me as if I will collapse in shame for posting something that corrupt organization doesn't approve of. A so-called independent fact-checker website FactCheck.org is exposed to be funded by the same $1.9 billion vaccine lobby group that it is supposed to check. The site is a Facebook partner whose articles are used to censor critical voices on the social media platform. It is headed by the former CDC...

Mollie Hemingway’s new book, 'Rigged,' explains how the 2020 election was corrupted by the concerted efforts of America’s most powerful institutions.Hillary Clinton said Monday in an appearance on “The View” that we’re “in the midst of a concerted, well-funded effort to undermine American democracy.”She’s half-right. There is indeed a concerted, well-funded effort to undermine American democracy, but it doesn’t come from Donald Trump, whom Clinton claims is responsible for the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and ongoing efforts to question the legitimacy of the 2020 election. (Clinton would know all about questioning the legitimacy of elections; as recently...

Big Tech company accused of 'leveraging its market power to silence its critics' Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado sent a letter obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation to Google chief executive Sundar Pichai on Wednesday, asking for an explanation as to why YouTube suspended the account of the American Principles Project, a conservative advocacy group. YouTube removed one of the American Principles Project’s (APP) accounts late Monday over “repeated violations” of the platform’s community guidelines, later reinstating it but deleting several of the group’s videos. Google did not provide the APP with an explanation at the time as...

Am liking Windows 11 because it is Windows 10 with window dressing (pun intended). My Danish son-in-law, who is in the know, confirmed it. But I had suspected it for several reasons, the one most significant was it's Windows revision number 21H2. 21H2 is supposed to be the next big revision to Windows 10 due out this month. But being from the computer industry, the use of the same revision is never done between different hardware of major differences in Software. Why, because it causes significant confusion when one person would be talking about 21H2 on Windows 10 when another...

Censorship of videos and written posts on major social media outlets about successful treatments of victims of the CCP virus—also known as the novel coronavirus—are causing people to lose their lives, according to Sen. Ron Johnson.“Everything to do with COVID has been most troubling because the internet could have been used so helpfully, so powerfully, by allowing doctors to disseminate their practices of medicine,” Johnson told reporters during a virtual news conference hosted Tuesday by the Media Research Center (MRC) and MRC blog Free Speech America (FSA).“I remember doctors doing videos out of New York recognizing that ventilators weren’t working....

A British journalist, writing in one of the world's most respected newspapers, recently declared something that almost none of his American colleagues dare to utter: Last year's presidential election was rigged for Joe Biden. Rod Liddle, associate editor of The Spectator, made that assertion in The Times of London on Sept. 26. In doing so, he also blistered Biden's incompetence and physical problems, which the leftist U.S. Establishment Media also largely ignores. "The American public is slowly waking up to the fact that they are being led by an ineffectually devious, senile halfwit," Liddle wrote. "Soon the public will...

The impact of Monday’s internet outage spread a lot further than just Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Amazon, Amazon Web Services, Google, Google Fiber and CloudFlare; Verizon,AT&T, T-Mobile, Xfinity, Peacock, US Cellular, Cricket, Cox; Snapchat, Zoom and TikTok: These companies are among those who received massive upticks in complaints of non-working services from users frustrated with their inability to access either Facebook companies themselves, or Facebook services integrated into their sites. Facebook says “the root cause of this outage was a faulty configuration change,” detailing the expensive disaster in a Tuesday post, but don’t get distracted: The ripple effect of this...

PARIS - On Monday, Oct. 4, major social media applications run by Facebook, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and the social media giant itself, all went dark worldwide for several hours. Not only did the outage prevent billions of users from accessing these services, but even those who only signed up for a Facebook account so they could access various third-party services with a simple click via their Facebook login were denied access to all those services, too. If this was you, then it should be your wake-up call to rethink your dependence on - and vulnerability to - technology. Cybersecurity experts...
