As things stand no matter which side wins the pending litigation, the other side is going to feel like it has been cheated. This will be terrible for the country. Lawmakers will be under tremendous pressure from their partisans to refuse to cooperate on anything and to sabotage what they see as an illegitimate administration at every turn.

This photo of soldiers guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the rain has gone viral over social media especially Facebook in advance of Hurricane Sandy. Soldiers of the 3rd Inf Reg. continue to stand guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, despite the worsening weather conditions surrounding Hurricane Sandy. The tomb has been guarded continuously since 1948. The photo was taken by Karin Evink Markerton at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, September 18, 2012, in the rain. Markerton posted a note on her Facebook wall to people tracking the origin of the photo....
  • (IBD) Benghazi Consulate Could Have Used Marines With Bayonets as Obama watched Navy SEALs die

Scandal: More than six hours after terrorists attacked our consulate, former Navy SEALs manned a blood-soaked machine gun to defend U.S. territory. Meanwhile Apache helicopters sat on the ground in Italy. At 4 a.m. local time on Sept. 11 — six hours and 20 minutes after the initial attack began — former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed at the CIA annex not far from the consulate by a mortar shell. The machine gun they were firing was encrusted with blood, an indication they continued to fight after being wounded. During that eternity, Woods and Doherty might...

Benghazi-gate: The president reveals a disturbing callousness toward our war dead on yet another talk show. When will he tell jihadists to stop clinging to their guns and religion and fearing people not like them? During the second presidential debate President Obama told challenger Mitt Romney that he found suggestions that he and his administration were covering up the truth about the terrorist attack on Benghazi for political reasons "offensive." He said he was the one who had to greet the coffins when they came home. Then they deserve more honor, respect and protection than they were given by their...
  • Obama Pushed Sequestration And Defense Cuts - and Marines still use bayonets

Defense Spending: Despite debate assertions, our commander in chief has in fact presided over a shrinking Navy and an Air Force with planes older than their pilots. And what's worse, he planned it that way. When Mitt Romney accurately said that under President Obama the U.S. Navy had fewer ships than in 1917, our commander-in-chief petulantly and contemptuously responded, "Well, governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military has changed." As a Marine tweeted Fox News after the debate, they still use bayonets and, yes, we'll have fewer of them under the combined impact...

Credibility: When President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton stepped into the Rose Garden the morning of Sept. 12, they likely knew the attack on our Benghazi consulate the day before was organized by terrorists. They knew because they were likely privy to a flurry of emails among administration officials discussing the attack in real time. Yet they said nothing about what they knew and, worse, had done nothing to mount a rescue despite American forces being less than an hour away during the seven-hour blitz. According to Fox News, 300 to 400 national security figures received these emails in...

Barack Obama lost the debate in Boca Raton last night. It must have been the altitude. The president patronized, interrupted, and mocked Republican challenger Mitt Romney throughout the night. In return, Romney acted presidential, and may have put this election away. A key moment of the night in this final policy debate was a set-piece zinger by the president as the candidates discussed military spending: Romney: Our Navy is older — excuse me — our Navy is smaller now than any time since 1917. The Navy said they needed 313 ships to carry out their mission. We’re now down to...

President Obama’s quip about “horses and bayonets” may have been the most memorable sound bite from the third presidential debate, but was it true? The comment came after Mitt Romney asserted that “our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917,” because it has fewer ships. Fact-checkers have determined that statement was false, but Obama took the bait anyway.

I hear a lot of people sticking up for bayonets, how about someone calling attention to the fact that Obama made a glaring error by mocking horses, when they were an important part of the war he says is the one we need to focus on, Afghanistan? http://video.foxnews.com/v/1912138721001/horse-soldier-memorial-unveiled-at-ground-zero/ This is the link for Fox, but there was also lots of other coverage about the Horse Memorial at Ground Zero.

Condescending debate outburst exposes weak defense strategy Note to President Obama: Stop pretending you’re a military genius. “Commander in chief” is simply a title, not a skill set. In Monday night’s foreign policy debate, Mr. Obama mocked Republican challenger Mitt Romney for daring to discuss the dangerous diminution of American naval assets to levels of a century ago. “Well, governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed,” said Mr. Obama. “We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines. And so...

Via Mediaite. I take it the defense here will be that they weren’t rooting for Obama, just grooving on a righteous zinger expertly dealt even though it was incorrect on the merits. But maybe I’m wrong; maybe there’ll be no defense. The media’s gotten more forthright about its biases and shortcomings over the past 10 years thanks to the endless watchdogging online, so there’s no sense grasping for excuses. Why bother? Everyone knows the score. This isn’t the first time reporters have been caught rooting publicly against a Republican, either. The Seattle Times gave bloggers a week of laughs five...

Last night Barack Obama mocked the use of horses and bayonets in the military. Today Bayonet Inc. told Obama to “get educated.” TMZ reported: TMZ spoke with multiple people in the bayonet industry who tell us they were shocked and even offended when Obama brought up the weapon during last night’s debate. According to the official U.S. Marine Corps website, every Marine is STILL required to complete a bayonet training program … because “the weapon becomes just as effective [as a rifle] in close combat situations.” We spoke with Dan Riker from Bayonet Inc. — a leading military surplus outlet...

Corporal Sean Jones, 25, of 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales's Regiment, "reversed a potentially dire situation" when his patrol came under attack in a carefully planned ambush in October last year. Firing a rocket at one of the insurgent positions, Cpl Jones ordered three of his men to fix bayonets before breaking cover and leading them across 80 metres of open ground raked by enemy fire. . .

(CNN) - Perhaps it only makes sense that a candidate who prepared for a presidential debate near Colonial Williamsburg would choose to slam Mitt Romney's plan for more Navy ships by using the phrase "horses and bayonets." President Barack Obama's quip - meant to make the point that modern warfare doesn't require the type of equipment it did in the past - appeared part of a larger strategy of casting his opponent as stuck in a time warp on important issues. And Republicans, seeing an opening, are making sure shipbuilders just down the road from President Barack Obama's Virginia prep...

A statue honoring soldiers who served in Afghanistan on horseback was rededicated Friday at the World Trade Center site. The 16-foot-tall Special Operations Horse Soldiers statue, located on Greenwich Street near the Path Station, commemorates when U.S. Special Operations team members rode horses into combat during the American invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. Riding with and advising Northern Alliance warlords fighting the Taliban and al-Qaeda on steep terrain in Northern Afghanistan, it was the first time U.S. troops rode horses in a military operation since 1942. "Having the terrorist attacks here, bringing this back home, it's priceless, words can't describe...
