BOSTON (AP) — A Massachusetts judge is facing a domestic assault charge after authorities say she grabbed her wife by the hair and pulled her head back during an argument. Prosecutors say Superior Court Judge Shannon Frison was released on personal recognizance after a court appearance Monday on a charge of assault and battery on a household or family member. The state court system placed her on administrative leave.

Maybe I’m a jerk for picking such a provocative title, or maybe this country is doomed because an utterly self-evident statement of the obvious has become provocative. Maybe both are true. In any case, I want to begin by telling you about a grown adult male who, last week, beat a woman to a bloody pulp in front of a cheering crowd. As he gloated about his physical dominance over this outmatched female, media outlets and advocacy groups hailed him as a pioneer. In fact, beating up women is literally this dude’s job. His latest victim ended up with a...

You’re a “Foolish” Man, Charlie Brown By Norma Zager As Charlie Brown runs toward the waiting football held aloft by Lucy, he lifts his leg anticipating a kick that will hurl the ball into space when suddenly, Lucy grabs the ball and regales with laughter as poor Charlie Brown once again falls flat on his face. Watching terrorist events unfold in Israel leaves me with an unsettling feeling the United States is not far behind. One often ponders the acceptance with which Israelis move ahead so quickly following murder and mayhem, and yet we are beginning to see the very...

Hey girls, want to get skanky? Well, sashay down to your local abuse shelter and get buzzed! No, you don't have to be a real victim of domestic violence. All you need is a convincing story. Last year Hollie Cephas of Monticello, Ark. arrived on the doorstep of the Options shelter to recount her tale of woe: Her husband had beaten her to the point of having two miscarriages, he hid her insulin, and once he even called her a "fat pig." The intake worker at Options had been taught to "always believe the victim," so of course she was...

Is Hollywood's idea of how to help battered women meant to actually degrade them? Is the liberal mindset so entrenched in the worldview of those who run in such circles so utterly depraved that they can no longer distinguish the difference between respect and abuse? Are the pied pipers actually leading today's woman into the abyss of moral anarchy - thus subjecting her to even worse degradation than what they profess to protest?   You will have to ask the Denises. Denise Brown is the sister of Nicole Brown Simpson who was murdered at the hands of an enraged jealous...
  • Top Court Sides With Gov't in Duress Case

The Supreme Court clamped down Thursday on defendants who claim they were coerced into breaking the law. Those defendants, not prosecutors, have the burden of proving in trials that they committed crimes only under duress. Although the ruling involves federal prosecutions, it could lead states to change their laws. The court's liberals were split in the 7-2 ruling against a Texas woman who claimed her abusive boyfriend forced her to illegally buy him guns while his accomplices held her children hostage. Government lawyers argued that a ruling for Keisha Dixon would help drug carriers and others avoid prison, claiming they...
