(Last Updated On: February 6, 2023) NATIONAL FETTUCCINE ALFREDO DAY On February 7th, National Fettuccine Alfredo Day celebrates one of the world’s favorite ways to enjoy a plate of fettuccine. #FettuccineAlfredoDay Fettuccine alfredo enjoys a history as rich as its flavor. Created in 1908, fettuccine was made out of love and concern by an Italian restauranteur. Alfredo di Lelio’s concern for his pregnant wife’s lack of appetite caused him to put his talents to work. The birth of their first son depended on it. His recipe of noodles, cheese, and butter not only encouraged her to eat but she also...

BACON DAY On December 30th each year, bacon lovers celebrate one of nature’s favored gifts on Bacon Day! The day reminds us that bacon is not just for breakfast and encourages us to test out various ways to enjoy this culinary marvel. #BaconDay Everything is better with bacon, so someone said once. And our research shows very little to dispute this assertion. The United States and Canada make bacon from the pork belly. Other countries around the world use the side and back cuts of pork. The meat is cured in either a salt brine or a salt pack. It...

New rules on pork production will lead to regional shortages. Bay State voters in 2016 approved a referendum that would prohibit the sale of products from farms that confine “any breeding pig [sow], calf raised for veal, or egg-laying hen in a way that prevents the animal from lying down, standing up, fully extending its limbs, or turning around freely.” Hog farmers would be most affected since nearly all are housed in individual pens. “There’s so many things that there’s shortages on, it’s almost like throwing salt on a wound,” ...If Massachusetts can prohibit the sale and mere distribution of...

This is what becoming ungovernable looks like.🚨🚨⚠️⚠️The Dutch protesters are pouring manure on government offices, flooding streets, and becoming all together ungovernable. This uprising is in response to the WEF controlled government shutting down farms to "save the planet." You have to...

Don’t call it a pivot, exactly — but it’s a fascinating journey, nonetheless. Umaro Foods, which is set to release a seaweed-based bacon replacement, entered the world as Trophic. The firm, which is now technically a subsidiary of the former, was formed to compete for the $100 million Carbon Removal XPrize. The organization managed to land a $5 million prize, due in part to research Beth Zotter had begun in 2010. This part of the story is familiar at least: With no clear commercial path forward, the firm had to rethink things. Given the the generally horrifying trajectory the planet...

This burger has won Rachael's Burger Bash competition a record seven times! (snip) It includes his ketchup-mayo-sriracha secret sauce and bacon jam, which is way better than just bacon. The strips tend to slide off the burger, but the jam stays put and you get some in every bite! Preparation For the bacon jam, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Add the onion, cover and cook 10 minutes. Uncover and cook, stirring occasionally, until very soft and golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes more. Add the balsamic vinegar and...

Bacon lovers might be in for a sizzling surprise as pork supplies in cold storage tumble to an 11-year low as prices rise due to declining hog herds. The latest United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) pork data in cold storage as of Dec. 1 was approximately 399 million pounds, a drop of 4.1% from a year ago and now at the lowest point since 2010."The drop came before the spreading omicron virus variant prompted slaughterhouses to slow down in recent weeks as more workers called in sick, further limiting meat production and likely keeping prices for the meat high,"...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — It’s not often that bacon leads a roundup of new laws taking effect with the New Year in California. But even in progressive California, that’s the headline-grabber. Several of the laws mark national “firsts” — first minimum wage to reach $15 an hour, first to protect warehouse workers from quotas, first to mandate hourly wages for garment workers, first to...

A coalition of California restaurants and grocery stores has filed a lawsuit to block implementation of a new farm animal welfare law....Put simply, the law requires that breeding pigs, egg-laying chickens and veal calves be given enough space to stand and turn around. For pigs, that means they no longer can be kept in narrow "gestation crates" and must have 24 square feet (2.23 square meters) of usable space.
