Air fryer bacon makes for a delicious, easy keto breakfast! Learn how to cook bacon in the air fryer with this recipe to make crispy, juicy, perfect looking bacon within minutes and without the mess or the smoke!
Cooking bacon in the air fryer is an easy way to enjoy bacon in the morning as it is easy to make and only requires minimal clean up after. The benefit of following these instructions for cooking bacon in the air fryer is that you will get minimal smoke. We fry the bacon at a lower temperature in order to avoid going over the smoke point of bacon grease. The great thing about a keto diet is that you don’t have to cut out bacon from your meals! In fact, crispy bacon is actually encouraged on a keto diet as it is zero carbs and high in fat.
Simple keto breakfast
This air fryer bacon makes for the perfect breakfast, but it can also be served for other meals or even as a snack on its own if you wish! You can easily make this for the whole family on a weekend, as who’s going to say no to bacon for breakfast?
Bacon with any meal This air fryer bacon can also be used in salads, soups and with lower carb sides such as roasted mushrooms, green beans and mixed grilled vegetables. These can all quickly be made while the bacon is cooking in the air fryer, so you would have a full meal ready in less than 15 minutes!
Air fried bacon will only take around 10 minutes to cook. However, thick cut bacon will take a few minutes longer. With our method, the bacon becomes perfectly crispy all over, yet still juicy!

We were up in the mountains northeast of Sandpoint, Idaho on Monday and Tuesday and stopped at the V-Bar-X Ranch meat processing plant on the way home to pick up some of their wonderful bacon and a couple of bone-in ribeye steaks. They make the absolute best bacon!
Cooking it in the air fryer couldn't have been easier. Put the bacon in the basket, plug it in and set it for ten minutes. The bacon actually got slightly overdone, so next time I'll stop at eight minutes. I didn't preheat the appliance (I put the bacon in with it cold), so my actual cooking time was slightly over ten minutes.
But was it ever good! It went perfectly with the New Hope Mills buttermilk waffles.
Here's the entrance to the Wood's Meat Processing Plant (and retail store) on a nice summer day. There is a lot of snow there now and bitter cold arctic air.
Here are some shots from our quick trip to the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch...
Air Fryers are the greatest invention ever. I do my steaks with them.
Love your pictures. Happy New Year.
Too many air fryers on the market. Which one should we go for? What’s a good price?
how do you cook a steak in an air fryer? I have done chicken wings.....they turn out fine and char the skin well but a steak?
Gotta be Wyoming, right?
Air fryers are great for cooking bacon, but a few things:
1) you’re going to make a mess
2) always set the air fryer to bake mode
3) carefully watched, baked bacon is perfect
Just put some butter and drop it in, usually takes about 10-15 minutes to get it nice and medium well.
My favorite air fryer food is biscuits, the frozen kind that you buy in the freezer section.
You can also use them for hockey pucks if you got some ice outside.
You do not have to empty a whole can like those in vacuum containers which is good because I only use two at a time.
The air fryer browns them evenly as well.
How much of a commission do you get for pushing the “V-Bar-X Ranch meat processing plant?” ;-)

Save the bacon fat to cook the blackeyed peas for New Years.
I love to use my Ninja air fryer to make personal pizzas with these 4 net carb tortillas.
They make better crunchy pizza crusts than tacos.
Put butter underneath in a pan or on foil and load them up.
Quite good.
Wonderful photos! We’ve had a combo air fryer/toaster/bake/etc. Cuisinart oven for several years. Outstanding results, highly recommend. The big oven is now a storage space except for big holiday meals.
It is amazing how prices have come down. A year ago, they were $150 to $200. I found the Insta Vortex unit at Target on sale for $70. The same day, it was $100 at Walmart. The clerk at Target rang it up at $99 and I said "No, the price on the shelf is $70." She checked their ad and confirmed $70. You have to watch those POS terminals! Note that the unit is back to $100 at Target today.
I like everything about it except 1) it's a bit loud (the convection fan) but not terribly so and 2) the display doesn't turn off when you are done. You have to unplug it to make it go dark. That's not a big deal because we store it in the pantry, not on the kitchen counter. The noise isn't objectionable with all the other noises you make in the kitchen.
It heats quickly, cooks evenly and FAST, has easy-to-use controls, is easy to clean, and looks good on the counter. The cooking grate came with four rubber bumpers to keep the grate centered in the basket. There were no instructions on whether to keep them installed or remove them before cooking. I took them out as I figured they would catch grease and they were probably just there for shipping (to keep the grate from bouncing and rattling around). The grate fits very snugly with them in place.
There probably aren't a lot of differences between manufacturer units and you probably can't go wrong with any of them. But I'm happy with the Insta unit so far -- I've used it twice, once for salmon and once for the bacon today. I used the Delish "Air Fryer Salmon" recipe with their glaze of oil, brown sugar, whole seed mustard, garlic and thyme. It was outstanding!

During the Christmas - New Years week, the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch has a wonderful package of a sleigh ride, dinner, and a concert. We added on a one-night stay at a room in the lodge. We highly recommend it if you are in the area!
