Mark Dornan saw a man shooting photos of his 5-year-old daughter after the annual Strawberry Festival parade Saturday morning and gave chase. "I snapped. Los Angeles (AP) -- A day of mostly calm immigration rallies around the nation ended with a clash in Los Angeles where officers fired rubber bullets and used batons against demonstrators. Police promised to review the use of force. Several people, including about a dozen officers, were hurt during skirmishes at MacArthur Park near downtown late Tuesday. About 10 people were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries including cuts, authorities said. None of the injuries was believed to be serious. (08-30) 21:01 PDT NEW YORK (AP) -- A march against the Bush administration turned ugly Monday when a protester repeatedly stomped and punched a plainclothes detective and hundreds of officers in riot gear pushed demonstrators away from the site of the Republican convention, witnesses and police said. The detective, William Sample, was briefly knocked unconscious and was hospitalized with head injuries that were not life-threatening. His assailant escaped and was being sought by police. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly called it "a blatant, vicious attack."

A protest outside the convention hall at Madison Square Garden got rough Monday night. Eyewitness News' Jim Dolan has more on what happened and why. They came here, a couple of thousand strong, to protest GOP policies. It started at the United Nations and ended on Eighth avenue. It was quiet for the most part, until the marchers wanted to go past the garden and the convention, and the police couldn't let that happen. The protestors were stopped at 30th Street and one block south of that the trouble started. A plain clothes policeman was kicked and beaten by protestors....

Protester has kicked a police officer off of his scooter outside of Madison Square Garden. Officer is in critical condition.
