Three men got a rude awakening this morning after breaking into a Deerfield Township home that they thought was unoccupied. According to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office, the men were in the home just after 6 a.m. when the homeowner, a 73-year-old man awoke and got his shotgun. The homeowner fired a shot into the floor in an attempt to stop the subjects from leaving until sheriff's officers arrived. Instead, the suspects fled the home.
