It seems to me that the various Militias are missing a unique chance to gain some positive recognition, in the current circumstances. There are far more vital facilities in the U.S. than the civilian law enforcment agencies can hope to protect from terrorist attack, and the military (in case you hadn't noticed), is currently Busy Elsewhere. The Militias could at least contact their local law enforcement agencies and ask them what they can do to help, and issue press releases detailing their availability and giving contact information.
