Houston-The protest organizer at an Arabic Immersion Magnet School says it is ironic that the seventh largest school district in the U.S. is ignoring the Arabic culture’s “long and ongoing culture of enslavement” while stripping names off of schools of anyone connected with the Confederacy or slavery (and spending millions to do so). The leader of “Stop the Magnet,” Liz Theiss, also said she does not understand why the school would reroute school buses and parent pick-up routes where protesters were playing the Islamic Call To Prayer.

Well thank goodness for the Qatar Foundation International in reaching half way across the globe to get this Arabic Immersion Magnet school staffed and financed for the 2015 rollout! As you can see for yourself via e-mail communications the 75K strong Arabic Community in HOUSTON was not quite enough after all. Principal Kate Adams pushed for every immigration and certification loophole in concert with the HISD Specialist Team to bring in the Arabic Speaking crew. Those traveling down Durham Drive may have noticed a new sign recently at 812 W. 28th St., the site of the former Holden Elementary and interim facility for HISD’s Energy Institute High School. The bright green sign for HISD’s new Arabic Immersion Magnet School (AIMS) is up, repairs and enhancements are underway on the campus and Principal Kate Adams is preparing to welcome the first batch of students this fall.
