On Saturday, I was privileged to participate in the Gathering of Eagles in our nation's capital. The gathering was arranged on short notice, mostly via the Internet, as a way for American military veterans to stand and defend our national memorials against any efforts at vandalism by anti-war (and anti-America) protesters from the group ANSWER (Act Now to Stop the War and End Racism). Members of that group had defaced the U.S. Capitol Building with spray-paint in January. The Gathering of Eagles was designed to assist the United States Park Police in defending the Vietnam Wall and other monuments against...

The source of funding for many of these radical parties – whose national membership is pitifully small – is somewhat of a mystery. Do they get money from foreign governments? It’s almost impossible to say for certain. But one can take an educated guess, based on which dictator’s propaganda is most prominently displayed. This very expensive-looking multi-color banner urges the release of the “Cuban Five.” These men are members of Fidel Castro’s “Wasp” spy network, who were arrested in 1999 and convicted of 26 criminal counts including the use of false identification, espionage and conspiracy to commit murder. Realistically, nobody...

This is an AAR from the General Discussion Forum on AR15.com with some great pics. Just click on the links and you'll see them. "I was proud to attend today's "Gathering of Eagles" (GOE) counter-protest to the large anti-war march to the Pentagon and was pleased find the attendance by many loyal veterans and Americans. Those carrying American flags and backing our men and women in uniform arrived and participated in very large numbers. I was impressed and pleased. The dingbats were also in very large numbers and behaved shamefully. They didn't do so without direct, loud and clear commentary...

As war protesters marched toward Arlington Memorial Bridge en route to the Pentagon yesterday, they were flanked by long lines of military veterans and others who stood in solidarity with U.S. troops and the Bush administration's cause in Iraq. Many booed loudly as the protesters passed, turned their backs to them or yelled, "If you don't like America, get out!" Several thousand vets, some of whom came by bus from New Jersey, car caravans from California or flights from Seattle or Michigan, lined the route from the bridge and down 23rd Street, waving signs such as "War There Or War...

Thousands of anti-war demonstrators plan to march to the Pentagon from the Mall today to mark the fourth year of U.S. occupation in Iraq. The protesters are expected to converge on the Mall at 23rd Street and Constitution Avenue Northwest before marching at noon to the north parking lot of the Pentagon for a rally, event organizers said yesterday during a press conference at the George Washington University Law School. The protest commemorates the 40th anniversary of the 1967 march on the Pentagon, when demonstrators rallied against the war in Vietnam. "Iraq is like Vietnam in the sense that both...

He's begging the anarchist and black bloc marchers to be uncharacteristically peaceful: Only Nonviolence Will End the War On March 17, a huge mass of people will gather at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., and march from there to the Pentagon for the cause of impeachment and peace. A handful of pro-war people, some volunteer and some probably paid to be there, will stage a counter-demonstration. This relatively tiny pro-death contingent will garner 50 percent of the media coverage if those on the side of peace do everything right. If a single demonstrator for peace turns violent in any...

Anti-War Rally Descends on Arlington Demonstrators are set to march on the Pentagon despite an ongoing dispute with state authorities. By David Schultz March 13, 2007 Thousands of people will be marching on the Pentagon this weekend to voice their opposition to the Iraq War in what some are saying could be a turning point for the anti-war movement. But the protest, scheduled for this Saturday, is occurring without the approval of state authorities. The march's organizers are refusing to pay a fee to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to receive a state permit for their event. The march...

The National Park Service has issued a permit for the Gathering of Eagles demonstration and rally on March 17 in Washington, D.C. as illustrated on the Eagle web site “Maps” link under “Sections”. BOTTOM LINE: AS UNACCEPTABLE AS THE PERMIT GRANTED IS, WE WILL BE ABLE TO PROTECT THE VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALL We view the permit decision unacceptable and will be taking immediate steps to appeal what we believe is an unworkable decision. If the National Park Service is unfavorable to our appeal, our legal arm will pursue immediate court action to acquire an equitable, realistic solution. The good news...

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A few dozen peace activists marched across the Golden Gate Bridge and gathered outside the San Francisco home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday, demanding that Congress stop funding the war in Iraq. "San Francisco has been against this war from the very beginning," said Toby Blome, a physical therapist who organized the event. "This is our fifth year of the war, and Nancy needs to wake up and represent San Franciscans." Blome, holding a plate of cheese and bread and a glass of wine, was stopped on her way to Pelosi's front door and...

The communist, pro-terrorist group International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) seems to realize they are facing a hot LZ on March 17. ANSWER has made significant changes in their plans since their initial announcement that they would hold their ‘antiwar’ rally at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Last week they changed the location of their rally from Constitution Gardens (East side of the Vietnam Memorial) to a park one block west of Memorial on Henry Bacon Drive. Yesterday, ANSWER announced they are only going to use the Henry Bacon Drive park as a meeting point for their...

Long time Worker's World Party/Party For Socialism and Liberaltion leaders Brian & Richard Becker have been deliberately promulgating a lie that their March 17th event in DC is the anniversary not only of the Iraq war, but also of the 60's era March On The Pentagon. ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 27, 2007 – Special Operations forces will grow by 17,000 active-duty members over the next six years, a senior military official said today at the 18th annual Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Symposium here. “We are fielding … the largest growth in special operations history without sacrificing quality along the way,” Navy Vice Adm. Eric T. Olson, deputy commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, said. The admiral said SOCOM’s role has been enlarged since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. In 2003, “the secretary of defense said, ‘I hereby designate special operations the lead combatant commander for...

From the ANSWER website regarding a permit needed for their March 17 2007 anti-war demonstration/march from the Vietnam Memorial (Constitution Gardens)to the Pentagon: "The State of Virginia Department of Transportation finally met with us last Thursday afternoon, February 22. At that meeting they demanded that we obtain one million dollars in insurance, hire an engineering firm to determine their traffic and road closure plan, and agree to pay a user fee of thousands and possibly tens of thousands of dollars for before we will be given a permit to march on Route 27 on the way to the Pentagon. We...

The people of the United States want an end to the war in Iraq. The elections in November were a clear repudiation of the Bush administration's war of aggression. The new Congress, however, has no intention of ending the war. Bush and the Pentagon generals are determined to prolong the war. Tens of thousands of more troops will be sent to Iraq. We are building a massive antiwar movement on the national and local level. Only the action of the people will stop the war. We are returning to the Pentagon because the Iraq war has resulted in more than...
