The media thought it had hit the jackpot on Friday. Here was a Republican Congressmen saying he supported an impeachment inquiry. Do you know what that means?BI-PARTISANSHIP!! The Holy Grail of impeachment!Rep. Mark Amodei of Nevada said on Friday, "I'm a big fan of oversight, so let's let the committees get to work and see where it goes," Amodei continued. "Using government agencies to, if it's proven, to put your finger on the scale of an election, I don't think that's right, If it turns out that it's something along those lines, then there's a problem."That, of course, is...

First House Republican backs impeachment inquiry Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) on Friday became the first House Republican to voice support for an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. In a conference call with reporters, Amodei made clear he wouldn’t vote to impeach Trump, but he also expressed concern over the president’s dealings with Ukraine, adding that the House should “put it through the process and see what happens.” “I’m a big fan of oversight, so let’s let the committees get to work and see where it goes,” he said, according to audio of the call released by The Nevada Independent. “Using...

A Nevada Republican congressman signed House Democrats' discharge petition to push a vote on a solution to save 800,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals beneficiaries from deportation, arguing that committee process hasn't produced an immigration solution for years on end. Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) announced that he had joined the effort as Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-N.M.) said separately that Rep. Scott Taylor (R-Va.) has been gathering support from dozens of House GOPs on a letter asking Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to save DACA before the end of the year.
  • Senior US Republican Eric Cantor tastes defeat at hands of Tea Party challenger (Irish push Amnesty)

The shock waves from the defeat of the second highest-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives in a primary election will be felt far beyond the US political epicentre in Washington. (SNIP)This all comes a week before Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore lands in Washington to lead the latest Government lobbying efforts on behalf of the so-called undocumented Irish. He is scheduled to meet Republican congressman Mick Mulvaney and Mark Amodei, who have strong Tea Party leanings, and Mario Díaz-Balart, who has tried for years to push his party into taking on the immigration issue. If there is any...

Late Tuesday night National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Pete Sessions painted the Republican win in the special election in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District as a snapshot of the problems Democrats will face in 2012. “Democrats just saw their 2012 playbook fall apart as Nevada voters refused to buy Democrats’ Medicare scare tactics and misinformation campaigns,” Sessions wrote in a statement. “This election sends Democrats another warning that Democrats up and down the ballot next year cannot escape accountability for their failed economic policies.” Medicare policy was a major focus in the ad war between Democrat Kate Marshall and Republican Mark...

The Democratic Party’s rare loss of a congressional seat in its urban heartland Tuesday, accompanied by a blowout defeat in a Nevada special election, marked the latest in a string of demoralizing setbacks that threatened to deepen the party’s crisis of confidence and raise concerns about President Barack Obama’s political fortunes. In New York, Bob Turner(R) soundly defeated Democrat David Weprin in a House contest that – in the view of party leaders, at least — featured an anemic urban machine, distracted labor unions, and disloyal voters. In Nevada, a consequential state for the president’s re-election strategy, Democrats suffered a...

Nevada FReepers in the 2nd Congressional District. Don't forget to vote in this important election on the 13th. While Mark Amodei is not Dean Heller he is a pretty good conservative and teachable. Marshall is a disaster. My personal opinion is that you should not vote early. The information on who voted by party is being released weekly and so far the Reps have a large number of voters over the Dems. I think it just lets the Dems know how many votes they have to turn out on election day. Save your vote until the 13th.

Republican State Sen. Mark Amodei kicked off his campaign for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Harry Reid today, telling reporters that he’ll run a positive campaign in the crowded primary, but that plenty of people in Nevada want to get rid of the incumbent. “When you look at where Nevada is right now, I think we’re at a financial crossroads. We do not need the status quo,” said Amodei, who is from Carson City. “The focus really needs to be on Nevada right now.”
