These sweltering summer months are impossible to get through without a little air conditioning. Using cross ventilation can supercharge your cooling setup during milder weather, but during blazing hot spells, only a highly functional AC will do. Air conditioning units need to be cleaned just like other appliances, and putting it off will cause that precious machine to putter along and waste expensive energy while doing so.

Has anyone hear ever heard about an air conditioner soft start module ? A sure-start made by hyper engineering in Australia. It takes sort of an electrician mind to install this. Module is used to stop electrical surges that flicker lights when a big a/c starts up. Can also be used if you are a prepper and want to run stuff off-grid with an inverter. The Department of Energy (DOE) recently determined that portable air conditioners meet the criteria set under the Energy Policy Conservation Act (as amended) for efficiency mandates. Like all other efficiency regulations, mandated appliance standards removes choices from individuals and empowers Washington to override personal preferences. DOE concluded that the average household use of electricity for portable air conditioners exceeds the limit to trigger consideration for regulation. The energy-use threshold for DOE bureaucrats to begin inspecting and testing an appliance is low.

Here's the situation, a relative in NJ just retrofitted her home with central A/C, the house did not have duct work so new flexible ducts were installed in the attic. The house is about 50 years old. The insulation is double layered pink fiberglass, lower layer is probably 35 years old, second layer is probably 25 years old. Both still have decent loft and R value. CHURCH HILL, Tenn. - Investigators are searching for whomever poured deer urine into an air conditioning unit at a school in eastern Tennessee. About a dozen students became ill after the prank at Volunteer High School in Church Hill. Firefighters were sent to the school Monday after the odor became overpowering in one classroom, and paramedics treated students who complained of headache and nausea. Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson says the stunt could result in a vandalism charge. Deer urine is sold by the bottle to be used to attract the animals for hunting.
