The mortal stabbing last month of a Linfield College student at a 7-Eleven near the McMinnville campus appears to be a random attack, and three officers were cleared in the fatal shooting of the assailant minutes later, the Yamhill County District Attorney's Office announced Monday. Authorities released more than 170 pages of police reports detailing interviews from investigations into the Saturday, Nov. 15, stabbing of Parker Moore, 20, of Woodinville, Washington, and the officer-involved shooting of Joventino Bermudez-Arenas, 33, of McMinnville. No motive has been determined for the stabbing of Moore, a Linfield College football player, by Bermudez-Arenas, a tree-farm...

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York, on Sunday unsurprisingly defended Hobby Lobby, the company challenging the rule under Obamacare that for-profit employers' health plans must cover contraceptives for female employees at no extra cost. But in his defense of religious liberty, Dolan incorrectly claimed that women already have access to widely available contraceptives at "any shop on any street in America," namely 7-Eleven. “I would be inspired by the Hobby Lobby,” Dolan said on Sunday's "Face The Nation." “I think they’re just true Americans. They’re saying, look, the genius of America is that religious convictions affect the way...

Gang Founder Claimed Innocence Until the End By KIM CURTIS, Associated Press Writer Tue Dec 13,11:26 AM ET SAN QUENTIN, Calif. - Stanley Tookie Williams maintained his innocence right up until his death, even when an admission of guilt may have spared him execution. ADVERTISEMENT Even after the courts and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger rejected a flurry of Williams' last-ditch appeals before his execution early Tuesday, his supporters vowed to prove his innocence. Williams, the Crips gang co-founder whose case stirred a national debate about capital punishment versus the possibility of redemption, was executed Tuesday morning for killing four people in...

For nearly a decade, a band of cybercriminals rampaged through the servers of a global business who's who: Among the victims were 7-Eleven, Dow Jones, Nasdaq, JetBlue and JC Penney. Prosecutors say the hackers stole "conservatively" 160 million credit card numbers, and the dollar value of the crimes they helped facilitate is enormous — just four of the victims are out $300 million. The suffering caused to identity theft victims was "immeasurable," say prosecutors. On Thursday, five of the gang's members were indicted. One is in custody in the U.S., a second is awaiting extradition in the Netherlands, and three...

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A man in Daytona Beach called police from a 7-Eleven convenience store, and when an officer arrived at the scene, Daylen Holloman, 20, would not explain why he called authorities, according to an arrest report. The report states that Holloman was taken outside and the officer asked him several questions, including "What's going on?" "Who are you?" "Where are you from?" He replied, "I don't know" to all of the questions, except one. When the officer asked Holloman, "What do you know?" he replied, "I know I'm a monkey." The officer then said Holloman removed his...

Twice in the past week, victims have defended themselves during attempted crimes with gunfire. The clerk, who was working with his son, responded by walking to the register and pulling out his own gun. When the would-be robber made an aggressive gesture, the clerk fired, striking the man, who fled from the store at 3908 Atlantic Ave., according to the release. About a half-hour later, around 1:30 a.m., a man suffering from a...

Global convenience store chain 7-Eleven has been getting some free advertising for its signature drink, the Slurpee, from none other than U.S. President Barack Obama. Obama has used the Slurpee -- a thick, frozen, flavoured beverage that is wildly popular with Americans -- in speeches on the campaign trail ahead of next week's mid-term elections to illustrate just how obstructionist and ornery Republicans can be. At a rally at Bowie State University in Maryland this month, Obama said that while his Democratic Party was sweating and pushing to get the U.S. economy out of a ditch, "the Republicans . ....

It’s a good thing someone in Basalt is paying attention. The victim of the Basalt 7-Eleven armed robbery spotted the knife-wielding, illegal alien in a local gin mill and called him in. Amazingly, the Basalt cops couldn’t find the felon, who was living in the trailer park next to the store he had robbed. Makes one wonder if Basalt’s boys in blue could find their butts in the dark with both hands. Twenty-five years ago, two officers did a better job than Ikeda’s dozen donut-dunkers do now. That trailer park is Basalt’s version of East Los Angeles replete with gang...

7-Eleven Inc. CEO Joe DePinto says that customers are buying fewer six- and 12-packs of beer, choosing instead the better value 18-packs. Stores are making room in cold cases for the bigger packs. The Dallas-based convenience store chain has a bird's-eye view on how everyman (or woman) is adjusting. Some more economic indicators from 7-Eleven: • Customers are moving to $10 prepaid phone cards from $20 ones. • In the beverage aisles, people are buying cheaper beer during the week. Premium picks up on the weekends. And they're using refill mugs more to save on that daily cup of coffee....

Most of you with a 7-11 'convenience' store in your local area are probably familiar with the 7-Election coffee cup voting currently in progress. These stores are found in most states, excepting the upper midwest and deep south. The company boasts: Votes are being tallied and reported each week in USA Today. 7-Election voters have successfully predicted the last two elections Whatever. Normally, I would just ignore this silly promotion, but as we well know, any indicator of Obama's inevitability is breathlessly heralded these days as the Coming of The One by the MSM, including USA Today. Some details about...

Hollywood star Bill Murray has spoken out about the events that led to him leaving a blood sample at a Stockholm police station last month. While speaking to the press at the Venice Film Festival, Murray was asked by a Swedish journalist to explain just what he was doing driving around Stockholm city centre in a golf cart. "A friend of mine, Jesper Parnevik, invited me to play in a pro-am golf tournament in Stockholm. I was driven to a party celebrating the event in a golf cart," Murray said. "After the party, the people that drove in the golf...

Should Bruno Kirchenwitz have been fired from the Basalt 7-Eleven? Yes No I don't know (5 shots fired into 7eleven store after bruno tangles with illegals. Bruno gets fired for "bad customer relations")

A 7-Eleven clerk who was fired after a bullet-riddled dispute over his U.S. Border Patrol cap passed a lie-detector test indicating that he didn't instigate the clash, a radio talk-show host said Friday. [...] He said he was fired because of his views on immigration. But Margaret Chabris, a spokeswoman for 7-Eleven Inc., said Kirchenwitz was dismissed for violating company rules prohibiting employees from engaging in confrontations with customers. "He wasn't fired for his political position. It has nothing to do with that or his views on illegal immigration," she said. Interviews with Kirchenwitz's co-workers and feedback from store customers...

Corporation tells Kirchenwitz dismissal unrelated to shooting incident. Bruno Kirchenwitz was fired Monday from his job at the Basalt 7-Eleven. The firing came nearly two weeks after Kirchenwitz may have been the target of a person or persons who fired five shots from a rifle into the store. Kirchenwitz said a 7-Eleven official who called to inform him of his dismissal claimed it was unrelated to the shooting incident. He isn't buying it. Kirchenwitz believes he was fired because his presence as a clerk at the store could be bad for business. He is an outspoken critic of illegal immigration....
