With Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) becoming the odds on favorite to win the Democrat nomination, the media rehabilitation efforts have begun. First up on Sunday evening was CBS’s 60 Minutes, which moved to protect Sanders against attacks that he is a communist. Host Anderson Cooper didn’t ask Sanders about his decision to honeymoon in the former Soviet Union or about past proposals for “public ownership of utilities, banks, and major industries,†proposals that Sanders has never disavowed. However, Cooper did ask Sanders about some positive statements that he has made about Communist Cuba.In explaining why Cubans didn’t help the U.S....

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the frontrunner for the Democrats' presidential nomination, doubled down on his support for some of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro's policies, saying in an interview that aired Sunday, "it's unfair to simply say everything is bad." Speaking to CBS News' "60 Minutes," Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, pointed to social welfare programs introduced under Castro's regime that he described as redeeming, despite the communist dictator's often repressive human-rights violations against Cubans. "We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but you know, it's unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know? When Fidel Castro came into...

A 60 Minutes report is revealing new information about last August's jail cell death of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi reports on Sunday's 60 Minutes that Epstein's body was found by federal correctional officers "at approximately 6:30 a.m." and sources say one of them could be heard saying, "Breathe, Epstein, breathe." Forensic Pathologist Dr. Michael Baden was hired by Epstein's brother, Mark, to investigate his death. Dr. Baden observed the autopsy and believes that Jeffrey Epstein died around 4:30 that morning, two hours earlier. The New York Medical Examiner has ruled Epstein's death a suicidal hanging. Alfonsi...

A producer at CBS News alleged in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that she was “ostracized, isolated and penalized” after reporting inappropriate behavior by a veteran "60 Minutes" producer. Associate Producer Cassandra Vinograd, who previously worked for The Associated Press and NBC News, joined "60 Minutes" in its London bureau in June. Soon thereafter, senior producer Michael Gavshon engaged in inappropriate behavior that included sharing a photo in a text message of him and several friends urinating on a fire, according to the lawsuit filed in New York Supreme Court. The photo was included as evidence in the lawsuit. Vinograd, 35,...

Tim Cook has come out about a real truth of the decline in manufacturing. What he omitted however, is that no one will manufacture in the U.S. unless they absolutely have to due to a 38% corporate tax rate. On 60 Minutes Sunday, Charlie Rose asked Apple CEO Tim Cook about his company’s manufacturing practices in China. Cook said the decision to use Chinese manufacturing has nothing to do with American workers demanding higher wages. He said it was because the Chinese have more skill. “Let me be clear,†Cook told Rose, “China put an enormous focus on manufacturing in...

There was a lot of testimony during this past week's impeachment inquiry about foreign interference in our 2016 election, including the president's assertion that Ukraine was involved. But the president's own intelligence agencies say it was the Russians who "hacked" the 2016 elections. Special counsel Robert Mueller spelled it out in his report. Now the Justice Department has at least two open cases against Russian citizens for interfering with our presidential and congressional races, we decided to take a closer look at one of them - the case against 12 Russian military officers accused of breaking into the Democratic Party's...

Even on its own terms, the media’s Get Trump project has proved a monumental failure. If the blob of blue-checkmark Twitterati wanted to help President Trump portray the latest impeachment push as a partisan witch hunt, they couldn’t have done a better job than they are now. Consider the latest example: On Sunday, CBS’ venerable “60 Minutes” program reported on Twitter that “the government whistleblower who set off the impeachment inquiry of President Trump is under federal protection because they fear for their safety.” The explosive news seemed to vindicate his opponents’ darkest fantasies about the president: Of course Trump...

A lawyer for the Ukraine whistleblower blasted CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday for “literally making stuff up” in its reporting about a letter his legal group sent regarding their client’s safety. In its reporting on the letter, “60 Minutes” claimed the whistleblower was under federal protection, even though that was clearly not stated in the letter. In response, the whistleblower’s legal team published the letter and called out “60 Minutes" for their shoddy reporting. “NEWS ALERT: 60 Minutes completely misinterpreted contents of our letter, which is now published online at https://compassrosepllc.com/intelligence-community-whistleblower-matter/ …,” attorney Mark S. Zaid tweeted. “Nor have we,...

In the interest of the historical importance of things that happened on this forum last week and, most importantly, to try to provide and document an accurate record of exactly what happened here on the evening of September 8, 2004, and the following morning, I have compiled a listing of ALL of the postings that occurred on Free Republic concerning CBS and Dan Rather 60 Minutes show from 8:00 PM EDT on Thurdsay, September 8, 2004, up until about 9:00 AM EDT on the morning of Friday, September 9, 2004, when the rest of the internet "caught up." I am...

To say that the Democrats are obsessed with race these days is the equivalent of saying the sky is blue. I'm a racist. You're a racist. Donald Trump's a racist. Nancy Pelosi was a racist until she attacked Trump for racism. Your neighbor's a racist. Your insurance broker's a racist. Your dentist's a racist as well as your periodontist. All white males are racist. Some white females are racists, especially those married to white males. Everywhere a racist. Never mind that many of those people have no history of racism. It doesn't matter. Never mind that their families came here...

Lara Logan, former correspondent for “60 Minutes,” caused a stir last week when, on a podcast called “Mike Drop,” she said that too many in the media have become “political activists.” -SNIP- Journalists are not activists. We may share the passion for a particular cause, but our job is to follow the facts wherever they may lead. We can’t ignore something that reflects badly on a noble cause, as an activist might. We have to care about the means as much as the end because our duty is to search for the whole truth. -SNIP- It is a fact that...

WASHINGTON — Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said in an interview that aired Sunday that a "crime may have been committed" when President Donald Trump fired the head of the FBI and tried to publicly undermine an investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia. McCabe also said in the interview with "60 Minutes" that the FBI had good reason to open a counterintelligence investigation into whether Trump was in league with Russia, and therefore a possible national security threat, following the May 2017 firing of then-FBI Director James Comey.

(snip) "[At Israel's Wailing Wall]...women have this tiny little spot in front of the wall to pray, and the rest of the wall is for the men. To me, that’s a great representation of the American media, is that in this tiny little corner where the women pray you’ve got Breitbart and Fox News and a few others, and from there on, you have CBS, ABC, NBC, Huffington Post, Politico, whatever, right? All of them." Logan continued by saying President Donald Trump‘s press coverage is a case and point of how the media produces a “distortion” by boiling things...

Lara Logan, foreign correspondent for CBS’s 60 Minutes, said Breitbart News offers “the other side” of news media relative to what she described as a mostly left-wing and partisan Democrat news landscape in the U.S. and abroad. She offered her remarks in an interview published last Friday with the Mike Drop podcast, hosted by retired Navy SEAL Mike Ritland.Ritland characterized U.S. news media as “absurdly left-leaning” and supportive of Democrats, further describing the status quo of American news media’s left-wing and partisan Democrat biases as a “huge f__ing problem” and “disaster for this country.”Logan concurred, “I agree with that. That’s...

Furious Trump calls McCabe a ‘disgrace to the FBI and disgrace to our country’ and claims he gave ‘Hillary a pass’ in return for his wife getting campaign cash Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI, recounted a Justice Department plot to remove Donald Trump from office in a television interview In the next episode of '60 Minutes,' Scott Pelley, a correspondent for CBS, says McCabe will talk about a plot to remove Trump from office Pelley says McCabe told him about a plot to approach Mike Pence, the Vice President of the United States, and ask him...

**SNIP** CBS reporter Scott Pelley, who interviewed McCabe for Sunday’s “60 Minutes,” said Thursday that McCabe told him using the 25th Amendment was discussed and that officials were “counting noses” — or speculating on who might support such an endeavor. “There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” Pelley said. “And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president.” In...

McCabe's actions prove that the Russia probe was always tainted and that many in the FBI and DOJ aren’t public servants, but rather incompetent attention-seekers. If Washington, D.C. were a better place, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe would be swiftly run out of town. He was fired last year for lying to the FBI’s inspector general at least four times regarding serious questions about multiple abuses that occurred while McCabe sat in a powerful and unelected office. These abuses included working with former FBI director James Comey to set up former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus for...

Whoopi Goldberg says newly elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez needs to stop “pooping” on the Democratic Party and tone down her “very opinionated” nature for a while. The ladies of ABC’s “The View” were not pleased on Monday with a recent interview the New York Democrat gave on “60 Minutes” with Anderson Cooper. They accused the young Democrat of rhetorically defecating on “the shoulders of quite a few giants” before ever accruing a single legislative accomplishment. “She is very opinionated, which we like,” Ms. Goldberg said. “We like opinionated women. But it is very, very difficult when people make accusations where...

CBS paid more than $5 million in a settlement agreement reached in the 1990s with a woman who claimed former '60 minutes' executive producer Doug Hewitt sexually assaulted her, the New York Times reported Thursday. Lawyers hired by CBS to investigate the workplace culture of '60 Minutes' are set to present a report to the board next week, according to the Times, which obtained a draft. The report, precipitated by the high profile removals of '60 Minutes' producer Jeff Fager and CBS chief executive Les Moonves after sexual misconduct allegations, found the program's separation from the larger company to be...
