Lara Logan, former correspondent for 60 Minutes, caused a stir last week when, on a podcast called Mike Drop, she said that too many in the media have become political activists.
-SNIP-
Journalists are not activists. We may share the passion for a particular cause, but our job is to follow the facts wherever they may lead. We cant ignore something that reflects badly on a noble cause, as an activist might. We have to care about the means as much as the end because our duty is to search for the whole truth.
-SNIP-
It is a fact that the vast majority of journalists in this country are registered Democrats. The colleges we come from are similarly dominated by one political ideology. This matters today because the reporting has become so one-sided.
-SNIP-
We dismiss conservative media outlets for their political bias, but we dont hold liberal media outlets to the same standard. Many journalists who claim to be objective have publicly taken a political stand
-SNIP-
I will be attacked for writing these words. But I welcome these attacks because it tells me my words matter. And I speak on behalf of all journalists who believe in standing up for the truth and honest, independent reporting. Most do not feel free to speak publicly. We live in a free country yet as journalists we are not free.
They cant attack the substance of our work, so propaganda machines like David Brock and his staff at Media Matters for America, smear, manipulate and invent false narratives driven by their well-funded political agenda. -SNIP- They use our criticism of unfairness and bias to falsely accuse us of being conservative. But all of us know, the louder the attack, the closer we are to the truth.

Its certainly not new, but if there is a silver lining, journalists and media have become so extreme, they have exposed themselves and destroyed their reputations. Americans are waking up to the lies.
A community is low on a Respect scale if common courtesy is withheld from large groups of people on account of their political attitudes.
...in a downright despotism opposition is dangerous whether the despotism is official or whether it is unofficial...
A community rates low on the Information scale when the press, radio, and other channels of communication are controlled by only a few people and when citizens have to accept what they are told.
See how a community trains its teachers
...these students are being taught to accept uncritically whatever they are told. Questions are not encouraged.
And if books and newspapers and the radio [and facebook and youtube and...] are officially controlled the people will read and accept exactly what the few in control want them to. Government censorship is one form of control. The newspaper that breaks the government censorship rule can be suspended. It is also possible for newspapers and other lines of communication to be controlled by private interests...

The newspapers of a real democracy meet these tests...
Newspaper checks.
1. Balance of coverage
2. Disclosure of source
3. Competence of staff
Political bias is destroying peoples faith in journalism
If it is determined that these views are her honest views then FOX should snap her up in a heartbeat an replace some of their activists like Shep Smith.
It all meant to depress voter turnout so the political elite can govern without interference from the serfs.
That ship sailed years ago.
J Schools all started teaching the Political Activist theory of journalism four decades ago. They all should have seen this coming.
Watergate was the watershed moment, that’s when people wanted to become journalists to “Change the World”.
The Ministry of Propaganda is advocacy, not journalism.
Every day they work to advance an agenda that has no relationship with the truth.
Yep.
But now, they have become so emotionally invested in destroying Trump that they have thrown all subtlety out the window. Their bias is blatant and inarguable, and it has opened the eyes of a great many ordinary people.
Baiting the press -and the left more generally - into exposing their true nature may be Teump's most important accomplishment.
What would be your suggestion? Surrender?
Media is actually dying, for reasons of technology and for their behavior. They are in a self-destruct mode and we need to be prepared to offer the replacement.
I know that some at Fox News have recommended exactly that. But, Fox News is going in the opposite direction, so I would be surprised if they made an offer.
I doubt that this the real goal, but it is certainly the result.
“Lara Logan used to work for CBS. She was their best war correspondent. I don’t know if she quit or fired.”
She was raped by a Muslim mob in Cairo and CBS threw her under the bus lest they offend the detestable and contemptible Muslims and their leftist dhimmis.
That’s what happened.
I’ll agree they sure did get quite an ego rush from being able to end a war and scuttle a US President.
It’s why their failure to take out Trump gives them conniption fits.
Journalism schools have eliminated Verify And Validate 101 from the curriculum.
