  • VANITY: Split Ticket or Voter Fraud in WV and NV

Forgive me if this has already been covered in one of the previous threads but this is just too screwy for me to digest! Ok, just trying to make some sense of this nonsense in West Virginia and Nevada from last night. So I was crunching numbers from the GOP tide in both states from the House Races vs The Senate Race! Here is what I came up with. WV: Manchin: 281,661.....Raese: 227,960 3 House seats: (R) 279,686..... (D) 225,651 NV: Reed: 361,655.....Angle: 320,996 3 House seats:(R) 356,909..... (D) 316,877 Really??? Maybe it's just me, but I find it hard...
  • Republicans Capture House in Historic Wave, Claim 'Mandate' to Shrink Government

Republicans thundered into the majority in the House of Representatives Tuesday night, making historic gains by a proportion not seen in more than 70 years. The party so far has won more than 60 seats, with about 65 net gains projected by the time all ballots are counted -- far more than the party needed to seize the majority. Democrats, with the help of a victory by Majority Leader Harry Reid, held the Senate by a narrow margin but suffered several big losses in an election that just about put Republicans on equal footing with the president's party.

If Republicans are pleased with their gains in Congress today, just wait until the next election when Republicans will be well positioned to take a majority in the Senate. A total of 21 Democratic senators are be up for re-election in 2012 in what will be a politically difficult climate for many of them. In contrast, just 10 Republicans face reelection in 2012. Many of the Democrats who face re-election won their first elections in the Democratic wave of 2006. Some of those senators will face an electorate that is much different than it was when they were first elected...

The big problem the day before and after yesterday’s tsunami-like election is the ongoing media failure to confront the big reality: Something’s not normal. It is not normal to have White House officials casually state that President Barack Obama was not watching election returns last night, particularly when those returns left him in a sort of `Home Alone` state.

The Tea Party movement has been widely touted as the biggest grassroots uprising of recent years, and a large number of Tea Party candidates have been female. Some of the notables include Meg Whitman (CA – gov.), Carly Fiorina (CA – sen.), Sharron Angle (NV – sen.) and Christine O’Donnell (DE – sen.), all of whom have lost decisively. So far, the only Tea Party senate challengers who have won or appear to be winning are men, such as Rand Paul of Tennessee and Marco Rubio of Florida. The only male Tea Party senate candidate who has definitely lost is...

Three longtime House Democrats holding gavels of power were defeated Tuesday night, with Republicans ousting Members with 98 years of combined experience who served as top lieutenants to Speaker Nancy Pelosi . Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman James Oberstar (Minn.), Armed Services Chairman Ike Skelton (Mo.) and Budget Chairman John Spratt (S.C.) all lost as Republicans regained control of the chamber in a wave that has ousted at least 60 Democrats.

Alex Sink will address reporters this morning at 10:45 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside, her campaign says. The math looks especially grim this morning for the Democratic gubernatorial nominee. Republican Rick Scott is leading by roughly 68,300 votes – and that’s with all precincts counted in Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Hillsborough counties and all but one precinct in Broward County. Those were the counties that Sink was pinning her comeback hopes on last night.

I know that Free Republic is California based and do not wish to say you should abandon your families who might live locally etc...but something serious has to be said here. My advice to any Republicans/Conservatives who live in California. You have great numbers to you...about 3 million plus. Do us greater justice...if you want to stay on the west coast for the views...move up to Oregon and Washington State. Their elections are won by razor thin margins up there. Imagine...if 200,000 of you lived in Washington State right now...Dino Rossi would be a clear winner and we would have...

Rangel won another term by a wide margin Tuesday despite lingering concerns over ethics allegationsBy Sarah Darville and Leah Greenbaum Published November 3, 2010 Staffers purchased a dozen bottles of champagne weeks ago to celebrate Representative Charles Rangel’s victory Tuesday night. But the short celebration at the Martin Luther King Jr. Democratic Club on 128th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard did not pass without mention of the 40-year incumbent’s upcoming public trial for ethics charges. Rangel won another term by a wide margin Tuesday despite lingering concerns over ethics allegations related to failing to pay income taxes and not...

I wrote this on my 'alternate' Facebook page - where I keep my friendships with musicians and the like, who are generally good people but have no idea what the hell is going on. I never talk politics there, but what has happened today in CA is a travesty of such enormous proportion, it boggles my already heavily boggled mind. Maybe CA needs to be trashed completely before people wake up. Maybe if they go to the beach one hot summer day, and it's closed, they'll wake up. Maybe if they can't get on the freeway without paying by the...

The midterm elections that returned House control to the GOP after four years was a rebuke to Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, their stewardship of the struggling economy, their overhaul of the nation's health care system, and more. Obama made no promises. But he called Boehner and McConnell around midnight to congratulate them, the White House said. Obama spoke more generally of working with Republicans to "find common ground, move the country forward and get things done for the American people." Pelosi, meanwhile, remained defiant to the end. The Californian issued a statement early Wednesday saluting Democratic candidates who...

While his party basked in the afterglow of a historic House victory, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) announced he would resign as House Republican Conference Chairman, and Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling threw his hat in the ring. Hensarling, who has led the conservative Republican Study Committee, quickly won the endorsement of incoming Eric Cantor (R-Va.), the likely incoming majority leader. The Cantor backing gives Hensarling a huge boost for the leadership job, which is seen as a stepping stone to higher slots in the GOP hierarchy. “Today, I was saddened to learn that my dear friend Mike Pence has chosen not...

After the 2006 midterm elections, many in the chattering class declared the GOP had been reduced to a “regional party” – white, male, and Southern. Since President Obama’s election in 2008, the Leftist mainstream media has worked diligently to paint much of the opposition to his policies as the bigoted and deranged spasms of a marginalized, racist conservative base. The tea party movement represented “racism, straight up” according to political philosopher Janeane Garofalo. Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich, Eugene Robinson, and Bob Herbert practically took turns writing weekly columns slandering conservatives using flagrant race baiting, including an embarrassing election-day screed from...
