Staffers purchased a dozen bottles of champagne weeks ago to celebrate Representative Charles Rangels victory Tuesday night. But the short celebration at the Martin Luther King Jr. Democratic Club on 128th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard did not pass without mention of the 40-year incumbents upcoming public trial for ethics charges.
Rangel won another term by a wide margin Tuesday despite lingering concerns over ethics allegations related to failing to pay income taxes and not properly disclosing personal assets.
Rangelwho won a crowded primary race in September and earned nearly 80 percent of the vote Tuesdayhas, it seems, developed strong loyalties in Harlem.
When reporters at the victory press conference asked about the upcoming Nov. 15 trial, Rangel replied, Im glad you brought that up. Im really not thinking about that tonight.

Can Republicans start a real investigation of this ass clown?
It speaks volumes about his constituents, doesn’t it?
Now that Nancy Pelosi’s “Most Ethical Congress Ever In History And I Mean It” is over, let the corruption hearings begin.
Indeed more free ride tickets to come.
I guess his constituents don’t give a real never mind about ethics.
People who happily elect crooks are probably themselves crooks.
They have no sense of right and wrong, and not an independent thought in their entitlement-rattled brain-housing groups.
Nancy “Drain the Swamp” Pelosi held off on holding ehtics hearings on this guy until after the mid-terms. If they do not proceed as planned the GOP in the new Congress will make this a very public event to paint the establishment dems as a bunch of corruptocrats.

Proof that New York is just simply a Lost Cause.
That corrupt entrenched pig will hold on to his one party district until he drops or is hauled out hogtied in cuffs by the feds.
That is what I was thinking: Rangel does a good job representing his constituents.
Unfortunately for the rest of the country, his constituents are largely criminals and parasites.
Yeah, like the bank account with over 500k in it. I can see where one might forget about it./sarc
ELections are merely a nuisance and a formality for many office holders. Some are more akin to feudal barons than republican representatives.
When radio talk show host Mark Levin speaks of drones. This is what he is talking about.
Bitsy, some times you have to lead them by the hand and do the dirty work for them.
What do Democrats have to do with ethics? Corruption is a badge of honor for leftnuts.
Yes - Just like crack smoking Marion Berry.
It’s amazing the role models people vote in for the future generations. No wonder the black community is so factured.
Kids aren’t being taught right from wrong.
There are some things you just cannot change....
The Sun rising in the East, the earth revolving around the sun, and then there’s people like Pelosi, Frank and Rangel, who have their seats until they choke or give up.
The people of Harlem WILL vote for Rangel even if there was video evidence that he murdered someone in cold blood.
Some things never change.
