I know that Free Republic is California based and do not wish to say you should abandon your families who might live locally etc...but something serious has to be said here.
My advice to any Republicans/Conservatives who live in California. You have great numbers to you...about 3 million plus. Do us greater justice...if you want to stay on the west coast for the views...move up to Oregon and Washington State. Their elections are won by razor thin margins up there. Imagine...if 200,000 of you lived in Washington State right now...Dino Rossi would be a clear winner and we would have another Senator. Imagine, if another 200,000 of you lived in Oregon...we would have another Senator there. Imagine if just 90,000 of you relocated to Nevada...Harry Reid would be fired today and we would have Sharon Angle. Suppose some of you wouldn't mind living on the east coast again...and 75,000 of you moved to Delaware...same story.
Arizona...we could have a Senator J.D. Hayworth right now. Colorado...we would have a Governor Tancredo right now.
My point is...abandon California immediately and move to states where we can control the government and the jobs again. California is a lost cause. It is over with there. No reason to stay. Your taxes are going to triple under Brown and if you think you were in a social hell hole before...just wait. The 1960s Marxists just returned in full force out there last night. Seriously consider moving out of the state and let them starve. It is not your responsibility to carry the weight of everyone else out there.
So many other options where you have better outlooks for jobs, better taxes, a better life, a more "red" life. The socialist's in California will not last without you and you do not want to be living there when society really starts turning on each other.
I know there are plenty of people who are going to say "I grew up here...I ain't leaving" or "No, we stay and we fight!" or "No, I love it here and Northern California is nice and Conservative", or "But it's fine in San Diego!".
Stop the excuses. Your state is finished. Leave it to the Hollywood commies and smug liberal know-it-all elite's.
MOVE. Please.
Nevada, Oregon, Colorado, Washington State, Arizona...etc...there ARE other options out there for you. We can make gains elsewhere with you relocated.
If you ever wanted to help your country this would be the time. We will never win a big office out there again...if we couldn't do it this time...we can never do it and if we ever did you can be sure the (R) next to their name is just short for (Rino). All of the money in the world was spent by Carly and Meg. Doesn't matter...waste of precious time and cash.

Don’t worry, I’m outta here in the next year. I gave up voting in this state a while ago and will take it somewhere that there’s actually some hope.

After the depressing results last night, this native Californian is seriously considering leaving this once great state.

It is a serious consideration to take. No question..California has some of the most beautiful views and landscapes this country has to offer. Go back for vacation...don’t feed the beast otherwise as a citizen. So many states can use you right now that border you.
I would leave California in a heart beat except I am a farmer and it would be very difficult to leave my land. My college senior daughter sent me a text today lamenting the Kalifornia election results. I told her to graduate and get the heck out of here.
I have the same problem inlaws both elderly and can’t leave. We also work in the movie tv industry. entire life change. not that easy

Contrary to the OP pls stay put. The rest of the country has had their fill of all things KA. We’re tired of you, your politics and culture. You’ve screwed up your home, all of the W coast and much of the W. You’re not welcome! Anyway, the weather outside of KA is terrible. I agree. I do want out of this nutty state. Kind of hard to get a job in another state, though. Taking a leap of faith and quitting my job and moving to WA or OR would be pretty risky.
Who do you suggest is going to do that? The Catholic church embraces illegal immigration. Look, we have 49 other states...California is BROKE. DONE. I would rather have 49 super states and 1 shining example of what doesn’t work than 40 states or so that can do it right. If you split the amount of Republicans and Conservatives out in Cali and just spread them out West...the Democrats would stand little chance for decades in states like Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Colorado.
Starve the arrogant beast known as California.
