Russia's most wanted man, the Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev, issued a statement yesterday in which he claimed full responsibility for the recent assassination of Chechnya's Moscow-backed president and appeared to suggest that Vladimir Putin might be next. In a text repeatedly referring to jihad, Allah and the Koran, Basayev, 39, seemed to suggest that his separatist fighters were preparing to assassinate President Putin or his Prime Minister, Mikhail Fradkov. Two Israeli Men Could Face Deportation Two Israeli men could face deportation after leading Unicoi County authorities on a high-speed chase in a rented moving truck over the weekend. Shmuel Dahan is being held in the Unicoi County Jail on charges of reckless driving, littering, false identification and evading arrest. Almaliach Naor is jailed on charges of false identification. My apologies in advance on this story; I just happened to catch this on several different newscasts a few minutes ago, and I am going by memory as best I can. Unicoi County (Tennessee) sheriffs arrested two Israeli men after a high-speed chase down mountain roads in this east Tennessee locale.
