Question: We all have time to pursuade and influence others in our movement and those outside or uninformed about conservatism. Then our performance is graded during the republican primaries. Generally our candidates were close in ideology with some differences. What happens next is puzzling, rather than vote for the candidate that was not exactly what I was looking for, we decide to either not vote or vote for an independent, thus ultimately putting a liberal in office. Bottom line is do you want a 90, 80, or 70% Republican or a 100% liberal. Mind you I am a 100% guy...

YAKIMA — State Republicans have decided that 10 commandments are enough. The Republicans' 11th commandment — Thou shall not speak ill of other Republicans — was repealed at a weekend meeting of the party's executive committee. The Reagan-era rule was supposed to ensure a sort of Marquess of Queensberry rules for Republicans running against each other in primary elections. A campaign attack against a fellow Republican was punishable by a $5,000 fine and the loss of any support from the party. It has been used to stop Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan from speaking at a state GOP convention, and...

  • (TX)Comptroller (Selfocrat nominee Carole....Strayhorn) blasts Perry's school plan

Says children will pay for it 'for the rest of their lives' AUSTIN -- Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn on Monday delivered a scathing review of Gov. Rick Perry's school finance proposal, saying it would create a $10 billion deficit within five years and provide little property tax relief. Just one day before lawmakers convene a 30-day special session on school finance, Strayhorn likened the governor's plan to a "balloon payment" that Texas children "will be paying for the rest of their lives." "This governor's plan replaces Robin Hood with Robbin' Everybody," Strayhorn said in probably her most pointed attack on...

Reagan's 11th commandment. Basically the text was, "One shall not speak ill towards a fellow Republican". JMO, it seems that the first ones to break that commandment on FR are the ones who seem to hold Reagan in the highest regard, yet trash GW Bush in the next sentence.

Hammering fellow RepublicansRobert Novak November 27, 2003 WASHINGTON -- During 14 years in the Michigan Legislature and 11 years in Congress, Rep. Nick Smith had never experienced anything like it. House Speaker Dennis Hastert and HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson, in the wee hours last Saturday morning, pressed him to vote for the Medicare bill. But Smith refused. Then things got personal. Smith, self term-limited, is leaving Congress. His lawyer son Brad is one of five Republicans seeking to replace him from a GOP district in Michigan's southern tier. On the House floor, Nick Smith was told business interests would...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Republican co-speaker of the state House said he signed off on the content of fliers that questioned the integrity of one fellow GOP lawmaker and described others as "an evil enemy." The glossy fliers, distributed to more than 500 delegates at Saturday's state party convention in Charlotte, attacked a handful of lawmakers aligned against Richard Morgan, R-Moore. The fliers said they were paid for by a group called Citizens for Honesty & Integrity. That name was given to be a new political action committee formed by Morgan's consultant, Paul Shumaker. State elections officials received the group's...
