The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Tuesday that it had fined a passenger $10,500 for refusing to wear a face mask during a February flight. In a press release, the agency said that a passenger had taken an Allegiant Air flight on Feb. 27 going from Provo, Utah, to Mesa, Ariz., and allegedly refused to wear the mask properly over both his nose and mouth. "Flight attendants instructed him seven separate times to wear his facemask properly, and each time he moved it off of his nose after the flight attendant walked away," the release said. "When told that he...

At the starting line, I stamped my feet in the snow and repeated this mantra: ‘There’ll be hot wine at the end.’ The promise of plentiful wine, local color, and a unique experience had drawn me to travel on a bitingly cold, gray January weekend to Moldova, one of the least-visited countries in Europe. I was running the Mileștii Mici Wine Run, a 10k race through the world's largest wine cellar. With a total 125 miles of underground passages, there’s plenty of room to stage an ultra here; the 10K Wine Run explores a mere fraction of the tunnels. Conditions...

For the first time since February 2018, Emily Infeld embraced the hard effort of competing in a race. Paying no mind to the clock, she trusted the cues her body provided her as she continued to battle her way through the final hill all the way through the finish line at TD Beach to Beacon 10K on August 3. Just seven months after her last hip surgery, Infeld had the rush of racing again, a feeling that she missed. The 2015 world bronze medalist covered the 10K course in 32:39 as the fourth overall finisher and top American in Cape...

As Bitcoin values continue to climb, the prophecy by the 'Nostradamus of the markets' is coming true. In September of 2014, in an interview with Fox Business, Tim Draper claimed Bitcoin would hit $10,000 USD in three years. To put that in perspective, Bitcoin was worth $413 USD at the time of the interview. Even strong believers in bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general were skeptical of such massive overall growth—particularly after the intense fluctuations the market, like the crash of 2011, in which the cryptocurrency declined in value by 94 percent. Well, today, Bitcoin surged past $9,000—having increased well over...

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said Monday that Iraq has sufficient forces to fight the Islamic State group (ISIS), after American senators called for more US troops to be deployed to the country. "The Iraqi government welcomes an increase in support in weapons and training and (air) support from international partners in our war against Daesh," Abadi said in a statement, using an Arabic acronym for ISIS. But "we confirm that Iraq has enough men and resolve to defeat Daesh and other similar criminal groups," he said. Abadi's remarks came a day after American senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham advocated...

A Louisville runner who struggled to complete a 10K race crossed the finish line hand-in-hand with her “angel” — a cop who walked by her side for a mile. Asia Ford began having trouble breathing about five miles into Saturday’s Rodes City Run. Lt. Aubrey Gregory got out of his police cruiser to check on her.

WASHINGTON -- Gold-colored bars seized by US forces in Iraq appear to be melted-down shell casings made mostly of copper, rather than gold, the White House said in a report obtained yesterday.

The US military announced the discovery of truckloads of the gold-colored bars in May.

The BBJ received an emailed tip this week from someone who says they’re an employed, Boston College Law School (BC Law) graduate. The tipster sent screen grabs of a job listing on BC Law’s career site. The post advertises a full-time associate position at a small Boston law firm, Gilbert & O’Bryan LLP, paying just $10,000 per year. (That’s $10K, it’s not a typo.) Larry O’Bryan, one of the firm’s partners, said he’s received about 32 applications for the $10K per year job, since posting it one week ago. He said that while the pay is low, the lawyer who...

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran is friendly to Jews, but his problem is Zionists – although he says there are only 10,000 of them in the entire world. Speaking with CNN, he declared, “From the very beginning, we're against Zionists. Zionists are neither Christians nor Jewish. They have no religion. Religion is wealth and money." Interviewer Fareed Zakaria responded with a question that included a simple definition of a Zionist as one who lives in Israel. “No, no,” answered Ahmadinejad. “Zionism is a complicated and terrible party. And to most they have 10,000 members, and 2,000 main members.” However,...

The Dow Jones Index Average (DJIA) closed above 10,000 yesterday. Unfortunately, hardly any American understands the reasons for the increase and bounce off the March lows. Most DJIA companies receive at least half of their revenues from abroad. Coca Cola (KO), McDonald's (MCD), Procter and Gamble (PG) have been expanding overseas for decades. Even Wal-Mart (WMT)--unfairly stereotyped as a rural, "red state" store--has been expanding aggressively in Mexico, the U.K., and the EU. Why are these international forays relevant? Over the past year, the American dollar has collapsed. The Canadian dollar, once the laughingstock of the world, is almost at...

WASHINGTON, Jan. 12, 2007 – Football fans across America got a sneak preview of the nation’s newest class of college stars at the seventh annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio’s Alamodome on Jan. 6. But the brightest star of the game was Army Pvt. Josh Lucas, who took home $10,000 when he put a football through the uprights during an in-game promotion by USAA. Lucas and his roommate, Pfc. William Herron, both assigned to Company C, 264th Medical Brigade, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, were selected to compete against one another and be the first to kick...

Well Folks! I finally did it, fwiw. 10,000 times I punched the button .. and plop, like magic, there it was. I wanted to make this one a little more personal than most of the others. Some were boring as hell and some I couldn't get a hit on if I paid folks to look at 'em. Others , were equally as dull, but Hey, with all the stuff out there on the 'net these days, who's to say I could or would have much to add to much of anything that folks cared to know about or had always...
