Many donations are unstated bribes. Or “access” to push an agenda, even to the point of submitting the legislative text that the congress critters propose and pass.
And from the other side, many business executives see donations as protection money, because part of the scam is for congress critters to raise the possibility of anti-industry legislation unless enough in an industry contribute enough to stop it.
The corruption is deep and long-standing.
Trump is the only one I know of who lost money going to D.C.

For example, BlackRock (Company A) packages and markets iShares ETFs. A competing ETF company (Company B) selling an identical NASDAQ 100 ETF could seek an IRS ruling to declare that a sale of a BlackRock (Company A) NASDAQ 100 ETF and purchase of their (Company B) NASDAQ 100 ETF is a like-kind swap for tax purposes, thereby not triggering a long-term capital gain for the investor in the year of the swap.
Competing ETF packagers/marketers would go after BlackRock like sharks in a feeding frenzy...leaving nothing but a floating Woke carcass.

I agree. But what I’ve noticed is that conservative news just moves to the next stories too....and the news just gets forgotten. Remember the last video by O’Keefe or the security cameras Jan 6. Faded away by everyone.

around 1994 there was a story that came how they could buy a congressman’s vote for as little as $100 on an issue.
And yet many, if not most, conservatives still hold the belief Americans should bend over and spread ‘em for corporations. They believe the likes of Blackrock to be interchangeable with the Mom & Pop little grocery store on the corner.
It’s a “Mega-corp Stockholm Syndrome”.
That is why I maintain that ALL POLITICAL DONATIONS SHOULD BE ANONYMOUS. You can't sell influence if you don't know who is buying.
Americans should be able to donate to any party or candidate they wish, in any amount they choose. That's FREEDOM. But to purchase an outcome makes it BRIBERY and a criminal act.
