Can Trump finally bring the gravy train to a screeching halt? During the Biden years, as inflation soared, Jerome Powell somehow said that inflation was transitory: Powell flirts again with a dangerous way to describe inflation: ‘Transitory’A fraught word resurfaced in the Federal Reserve’s lexicon again this week: ‘transitory.’ Yet somehow, he never blamed Biden’s energy policies (hundreds of billions in subsidies), open borders (hundreds of billions for various programs for illegals), or bureaucratic regulations, which all directly contributed to massive amounts spending, which in turn, created inflation when the Fed created the dollars needed for the bill. One of...

Boeing warned plane owners in 2011 about a broken part that contributed to a UPS plane crash that killed 15 last year but at that point the plane manufacturer didn’t believe it threatened safety, the National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday. The UPS plane crashed in November 2025 shortly after taking off in Louisville, Kentucky, when the left engine flew off the wing as the plane rolled down the runway. Three pilots on the plane that was headed for Hawaii were killed along with 12 more people on the ground near Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport. The NTSB said Wednesday...

The explosion of the budget deficit was one of the most worrisome things that happened post-Covid. While inflation peaked in 2022, the deficit kept getting worse because of the “fiscal doom loop” caused by bloated spending and higher interest rates. At this time last year things were still looking extremely grim. The deficit was stuck around $2.1 trillion on a rolling 12-month basis, or 7.3% of GDP--the largest non-emergency deficit we’ve ever had. And the10-year Treasury yield was stuck above 4.7%, worsening the situation daily. Now, though, we are experiencing a dramatic improvement. The latest numbers which we got yesterday...

Renee Good’s former father-in-law, Timmy Macklin Sr., urged Americans to turn to God and love one another when asked by CNN about her death. He said he did not blame Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for what happened, but suggested that the country’s drift away from faith played a role, noting that if Renee had embraced God, she might not have ended up in the situation that led to her death a week ago.

In a Wednesday Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hearing regarding the safety of abortion pills, an OBGYN refused to say whether men can get pregnant. The question was first asked to Dr. Nisha Verma by Senator Ashley Moody. "Ms. Verma," Moody asked, "can men get pregnant?" Verma first corrected Moody, saying "Dr. Verma," before responding to the question with "Um, I mean..." and smiling without answering properly. Senator Josh Hawley took up the question and asked Verma again, "Dr. Verma, I wasn't sure I understood your answer to Sen. Moody a moment ago, do you think that...

The US and the UK issued warnings on Thursday against travel to Israel, as tensions spiraled over the Iranian regime’s lethal crackdown on protests in the country and amid indications an American strike on the Islamic Republic could be imminent. With thousands now reported dead, US military action has for several days been seen as imminent. Iran has threatened that if the US attacks, it will target Israel as well as US bases in the region. The...

President Donald Trump and the White House have touted the drop in federal workers as an accomplishment. The big decline in federal payrolls came in October, with the end of the Trump administration’s deferred resignation program. In early 2025, via an email titled “fork...

This is more advanced than you think Tesla’s Texas lithium refinery is the first in North America to convert raw spodumene ore directly into battery-grade lithium hydroxide, skipping the intermediate steps the rest of the industry relies on It went from groundbreaking to first production in just 19 months, an unheard-of timeline at this scale The process is cleaner too: no hazardous sodium sulfate waste, and a useful byproduct that can be turned into concrete This single refinery can supply lithium for over 500,000 EVs per year and directly challenges China’s ~60% grip on global lithium refining One of the...

The chair of Shannon Airport warned the Minister for Transport that protests and airside incursions at the airport were a “grave risk” and a threat to the international reputation of the State. The letter to Minister Darragh O’Brien last May said security breaches at Shannon that month were part of a “persistent and deeply concerning” trend. However, a further incident took place in November when protesters managed to reach an apron and taxiway, before spray painting a US military aircraft. In last year’s correspondence, the airport chair Conal Henry pleaded for help, saying the incursions posed a very serious security...

Greenland’s economy may be small, but its real value is tied to Arctic security and vast mineral reserves. Trump’s interest in it reflects US efforts to counter China’s dominance in sourcing critical raw materials. When Donald Trump once again raised the idea of acquiring Greenland in early 2025, it sounded, at first, like a familiar holdover from his first presidency. Yet the renewed interest, this time accompanied by reports that Trump’s team had discussed issuing direct payments to Greenlanders, seems to point to a deeper commitment than mere political theatre. On Wednesday, US vice president JD Vance met with Denmark’s...
