Trump says defense CEOs agree to quadruple production of ‘Exquisite Class’ weaponry

President Donald Trump met Friday afternoon with CEOs of major defense industry companies at the White House as the war against Iran ended its first full week.

After the meeting, Trump said in a social media post that “we discussed Production and Production Schedules” and “they have agreed to quadruple Production of the ‘Exquisite Class’ Weaponry in that we want to reach, as rapidly as possible, the highest levels of quantity.”

Trump did not explain what he meant by “Exquisite Class Weaponry.” The term is used in the defense industry to describe one-of-a-kind technology or systems.

Trump said the meeting included CEOs of BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, RTX Corporation, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace and L3Harris Technologies’ Missile Solutions.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also attended the meeting.

This is a class of weapons for which there is no substitute. THAAD, Patriot, SM-6. Tomahawk Block V, LRSO stealth missiles, F-35, and B-21.

Noticeably missing are the ship builders, who need even more impetus.

As for Iran, we're probably just using JDAMS in country now.

If there is money to be made, why wouldn’t they.

Follow Sal Marcogliano (What’s up with shipping?) and Jon Konrad (gCaptain). These guys have been on top of our merchant marine and shipbuilding issues for a long time. Konrad is one of the accredited new media guys reporting from the Pentagon after the fake media walked out. Highly recommended.

And on that last, that’s my assumption as well, given the announcement we’re using B-52s. It means we’ve substantially degraded Iran’s IADS to nothingness. All hail the updated ‘50s bomb truck.

I think they need long term contracts, they can’t invest in new factories, investment, hiring, and growth, for short term production and sporadic contracts.

“50s bomb truck”

I love that.

We should make more.

B-52: 31,500kg
B-2: 18,000kg
B-1: 34,000kg

“I think they need long term contracts”

They do, and they’ve been saying it forever.

Congress ignored the call...until the BBB.

The Pentagon is able to commit the money. And this stuff is ridiculously expensive.

I had listened to a podcast that discussed the shipyard issue in some detail and discussed how the Trump Team is onboard with remedying this problem.

They pointed to the pledge by Seoul of a $150 billion Korean investment in the American shipbuilding sector.

They also mentioned they are going to pursue building an additional large Navy yard for repairs, to hire American shipbuilders.

Wow, POTUS and VEEP met with CEOs of BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, RTX Corporation, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace and L3Harris Technologies’ Missile Solutions.

I don’t recall ever hearing about such a meeting before. Maybe in WW II, but not since.

“They pointed to the pledge by Seoul of a $150 billion Korean investment in the American shipbuilding sector.”

If congress commits the enormous sums needed for this endeavor those Koreans will get their money back with a profit.

We need to double the number of hulls produced. And that grows tonnage slowly as many are nearing end of life.

You both sound like you might enjoy a book I read:

Warship Builders: An Industrial History of U.S. Naval Shipbuilding 1922-1945

It doesn't translate exactly to here and now, but it is fascinating reading nonetheless, especially for those who are astute enough to understand the current problems we are facing not only with building, but scheduled yard work and how that impacts operations.

The British are having a shortage of yard facilities is actively impacting their ability to do anything at all meaningful regarding Iran.

Sounds like a good one for the Amateurs study tactics, professionals study logistics pile. Not that I’m a professional, but I like reading from that perspective.

According to Ai math this is what we would need to produce. Given the current anemic production numbers we fall way short at even quadruple.

Thanks for the link.

The only things that will outlive us all are the B-52 and Keith Richards.

That AI model was given at least one erroneous assumption: NOBODY is shooting down drones with Patriot or THAAD any longer.
