If imitation is the sincerest form of politics, President Trump is paying Elizabeth Warren great homage by copying the Senator’s ideas. In November he asked the Justice Department to investigate meat-packers for price-fixing. On Wednesday he endorsed a ban on large institutional investors buying homes. Mr. Trump is searching for ways to lower housing costs and now he’s seizing on a favorite of the anti-business left. “People live in homes, not corporations,” he wrote on Truth Social. “I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to...

Lauren Booth, a British-born journalist who has converted to Islam, said 'only Allah knows' how many 'millions' would pick up the Quran in the wake of the attacks, arguing that the world had reached a historic 'tipping point'. A Pennsylvania man has been arrested and is facing more than 500 charges after he was accused of stealing human skulls and “numerous” skeletal remains from an abandoned cemetery on Philadelphia’s outskirts, according to police. Bones and skulls visible in the back seat of a car near the cemetery led police to the home and storage unit of Jonathan Gerlach, 34, after police had been looking into a string of burglaries. Investigators checked Gerlach’s licence plates and found that he had been near the cemetery repeatedly during the period when the burglaries occurred. Officers say the Jan. 6 arrest culminated...

Chinese silver demand is on pause allowing prices to drift from all-time highs. Meanwhile, gold marches on towards a test of its post-Christmas highs. However, the physical silver shortage is what matters and will continue to drive prices. In gold, there is a dawning realisation that there must be something solid behind its bull market, with speculators returning to Comex. And those clever people behind Tether’s gold stablecoin have been ramping up their reserves buying a further 26 tonnes in 2025 Q4, making them larger holders than most central banks. Silver’s frenetic rush paused this week with dealers assessing its...

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) must stop requiring that grant applications not include terms related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including the term “pregnant people,” under a new order from a federal judge. U.S. District Judge Ricardo Martinez, based in Seattle, said in the Jan. 5 ruling that plaintiffs in the case provided examples of harm related to instructions on grant applications from HHS. He ordered the government to stop enforcing a requirement that applicants certify they would not “operate any programs that advance or promote DEI ... or discriminatory equity ideology in violation of Federal...

Multiple videos captured the deadly encounter between a federal agent and Renee Good, raising questions about whether it was an authorized use of force. Rob Doar, a defense attorney and head of the Gun Owners Law Center, reviewed the videos with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS. He emphasized that the use of force should be a last resort, used only in self-defense after all other options are exhausted. “The first shot seems to be while the vehicle is advancing towards him,” said Doar. “The second and third shot that we see in the video comes from the side driver’s window. ‘I truly believe humor is a tool. It’s a tool that helps people release emotional tension, a tool that helps people feel safe. Very often, when someone tells me a joke or makes me laugh, even about something very small, it feels like a gesture – like they’ve seen me and said, ‘I want to make you feel a little better,’” said Zohar Shahar, one of the co-directors of Bella, a very funny and audacious new Israeli comedy, with a touch of drama, that dares to find laughs in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It opened in theaters around the country on...
