Language clash on a rush-hour train ignites political uproar in Belgium – and an official complaint. A seemingly innocent greeting from a train conductor has sparked a full-blown political row in Belgium, after a Dutch-speaking passenger took offence to a French ‘bonjour’ on board a rush-hour train. The conductor’s attempt to please all passengers has instead ignited a war of words in a country already deeply divided over language politics. With The Smokey Robinson-penned ‘My Girl,’ The Temptations created a keystone soul song that put the group on the map, adding to Motown’s winning streak. With The Smokey Robinson-penned ‘My Girl,’ The Temptations created a keystone soul song that put the group on the map, adding to Motown’s winning streak. Dub der-nern, dub der-nern… That little guitar lick is not remotely emphatic. It’s not loud, not heavy. There is nothing about it that is gimmicky, and it uses just two notes of a major scale. Yet the moment you hear it, you just know what the song is. It’s “My Girl”...

The track and its crossover brought him to a whole new level of fame and influence.Perhaps Hank Williams’ most covered song, “Cold, Cold Heart” also brought the singer/songwriter huge success soon after it was released in early 1951. The plaintive ballad didn’t take long to become a cross-genre hit, in spite of its unabashedly folksy style: a young Tony Bennett released a plush, orchestral take on the tune the same year that nearly matched the original in reach and acclaim, prompting everyone from Louis Armstrong to (much later) Norah Jones to follow suit. Williams’ ode to his wife Audrey and...

It could be a hoax. It could be a bunch of kids having fun. It could be a lot of things; this is the internet, after all. Or it could be deadly serious. A startling and unsettling story appeared today — a story that was immediately amplified when the Drudge Report posted it: “A dark web ‘hitman’ is promising to kill Trump — if he raises $30,000 in crypto.” The message appeared on the so-called dark web — part of the internet with hidden websites and secret messages that are only accessible with specialized software, such as the Tor browser....

Canada's embattled Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hasn't been kicked out quite yet, but he's been handed his hat and shown the door. All that remains is for one of his coalition partners to swing the ax to end the political career of one of the strangest leaders in Canada's history. Trudeau's mother Margaret was a flower child of the 1960s and a radical activist. She had a brief fling with Mike Jagger of the Rolling Stones, who said of her, "Margaret was a 'very sick girl in search of something. She found it – but not with me.'" Pierre Trudeau,...

A Republican Congresswoman who has been “missing” for the past six months has finally been found. Rep. Kay Granger has served as the representative for Texas’s 12th Congressional District since 1997. However, she suddenly disappeared from the public eye around July this year, when she cast her final vote against an amendment to reduce the salary of Deputy Assistant Administrator for Pesticide Programs to $1. The reporter, Carlos Turcios, began by contacting her offices,...

Amid the ongoing drama in D.C. with Congress furiously debating and voting on an interim spending bill a key question has arisen from constituents in Texas Congressional District 12, “Where is Congresswoman Kay Granger?” Some Tarrant County residents have begun to speculate. “I’m hearing she’s in a memory care unit. We need to have standards. Representatives who miss 3 votes in a row without announcing a legitimate medical reason should have their salaries and benefits frozen. This has to stop!” Fairfighter posted on X. According to Ms. Granger’s roll call vote page, Grangers last vote was on July 24th, 2024...

The sun is a mighty powerful heat, but it’s almost impossible to go near the sun. The moon is more manageable." -- Rep. A Georgia homeowner was arrested and charged with criminal trespass after attempting to move back into her home, which was being occupied by an alleged squatter.
