(NEXSTAR) — It may be hard to believe, but November is fast approaching. With it will come Election Day, Thanksgiving, and, for some 7 million Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries, an extra check. It’s all thanks to a quirk in the 2024 calendar. SSI recipients typically receive one payment a month from the Social Security Administration, which oversees the program. These checks are usually dispersed on the first day of the month, but when that day falls on a weekend or a holiday, the payments are sent out on the previous weekday. It’s only been a couple of months since such...

How far does your head need to be buried in the sand to convince yourself that Bidenomics has been absolved of all the disaster it wrought on the U.S. economy? Only New York Times economics pseudo-savant Paul Krugman appears to know. Krugman's desperate attempts to rewrite the pathetic story of Bidenomics continues to get worse with each new column he spits out on The Times’s homepage. “All the Good Economic News Vindicates Bidenomics,” read Krugman’s latest drivel-laced headline. “It’s hard to overstate just how good recent economic numbers have been,” pointing to a small string of meaningless anecdotes that get...

A young mother who refused to abort her conjoined twins is asking for money to fund their funeral. Brianna Pereyda, 20, gave birth to Josiah and Isaiah at Banner UMC Tucson in Arizona on October 9, against the advice of local doctors. The two passed shortly after being born, unable to breathe due to undeveloped organs. Pereyda, already a mom of two healthy boys, posted the GoFundMe anticipating this, three days early. There, she wrote that 'even after all the professional doctors [warnings], she 'couldn't find it in my heart to end two souls.' This came after doctors told her...

SEOUL, Oct 16 (Reuters) - North Korean state media said on Wednesday around 1.4 million young people had applied to join or return to the army this week, blaming Seoul for a provocative drone incursion that had brought the "tense situation to the brink of war". The fiery rhetoric comes after North Korea last week accused Seoul of sending drones over Pyongyang that scattered a "huge number" of anti-North leaflets. The North then blew up inter-Korean roads and rail lines on its side of the border on Tuesday, and warned that the South would "pay a dear price" The young...

A lengthy post by an American who says he “can’t stand” Donald Trump but is still voting for him rather than than Kamala has gone viral, and for good reason. It’s succinct, elegantly written and it shows how woeful Harris is on key points. It has an astounding 56 million views at time of writing. Here it is.I can't stand Donald Trump. He is braggy, he insults people for no reason, and he is just a brutal personality. But my mind is made up. I'm voting for him and here's why: * He puts Americans and their well-being first. Kamala will not....

Black Americans are the only racial demographic told rather than persuaded how to vote.I stopped blindly supporting Democrats for many reasons, but their obsession with identity politics tops the list.Race has always been a component of political discussion. But even as a black man, it always seemed to me like an appetizer, not the entrée. Now instead of aiming for common-sense policies that benefit the most people, Democrats carve out niche superficial interests that benefit barely anyone. Kamala Harris is both a beneficiary and the perpetrator of the Democrat Party’s identity infatuation. Harris plays the identity politics game, pretending she’s...

Two months ago, Javier Barajas hosted former President Donald J. Trump at Il Toro E La Capra, one of five restaurants he owns in Las Vegas. Mr. Barajas, 65, had eagerly backed Hillary Clinton when she ran for president in 2008; he previously welcomed President Biden to one of his other restaurants. But he has thrown his support to Mr. Trump this year for one major reason: skyrocketing prices on everything from the ingredients in his entrees to the gas for his catering truck. His nephew, Justin Favela, was crafting a piece of traditional Mexican folk art from tissue paper...

A new election rule in Georgia that would require ballots on election night be hand counted has been blocked by a state judge and will not take effect before Nov. 5. Fulton County Superior Judge Robert McBurney said “the public interest is not disserved by pressing pause.” His eight-page ruling went on to note how “this election season is fraught” and “memories of January 6 have not faded away, regardless of one’s view of that date’s fame or infamy.” He said the new rule would cause “administrative chaos” given the limited time left to instruct poll workers. "Anything that adds...

Andy Stanley is up to his old tricks again, arguing in a recent sermon that Christians don’t have to believe in all the miracles recorded in the bible, but only have to believe in two. You’ll recall Stanley previously made waves for encouraging Christians to “unhitch” themselves from portions of Old Testament Scripture, denied the Genesis account, saying God only said it to ‘accommodate to our capacity,’ repeatedly told his congregants, ‘I’m not arguing that the bible is correct,’ told them it doesn’t matter if the bible is true, so long as it’s ‘mostly reliable,’ that they shouldn’t follow Jesus...

The 16,000 members of the National Border Patrol Council, the union representing border patrol agents, endorsed Donald Trump on Tuesday. Paul Perez, President of the National Border Patrol Council, absolutely roasted Kamala Harris when Trump called him on stage in Arizona.

California police departments are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on Teslas to comply with the state’s zero-emissions mandate — only for some to find them “nearly unusable” as squad cars. Multiple municipalities have started buying modified electric cars since Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill in 2020 ordering that all vehicles sold in California be zero-emission by 2035. However, other departments have bought Teslas to test as regular squad vehicles — only to report a slew of concerns, including fears officers would be left charging them at unfamiliar stations while still carrying criminals, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The...

With three weeks left before Election Day, former President Donald J. Trump is pushing to the forefront of his campaign a menacing political threat: that he would use the power of the presidency to crush those who disagree with him. In an interview on Sunday, Mr. Trump framed Democrats as a pernicious “enemy from within” that would cause chaos on Election Day that he speculated the National Guard might need to handle. A day later, he closed his remarks to a crowd at what was billed as a town hall in Pennsylvania with a stark message about his political opponents....

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL, Dec. 12, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A new poll by The Heartland Institute and Rasmussen Reports found one-in-five voters who cast mail-in ballots during the 2020 presidential election admit to participating in at least one kind of voter fraud. When asked, “During the 2020 election, did you fill out a ballot, in part or in full, on behalf of a friend or family that member, such as a spouse or child?”, 21% of respondents who said they voted by mail answered “yes.” (Filling out a ballot for someone else is illegal in all states, although many states...

Michelle Obama will headline an Atlanta rally on October 29 for the Kamala Harris campaign after she initially had no plans to help the coronated Democrat nominee. The announcement, first reported in the Associated Press, suggests the Harris campaign is becoming more desperate to prevent former President Donald Trump from completing the greatest comeback in modern American politics. The rally to boost turnout will occur on November 1, five days before election day, just before early voting ends in Georgia. The AP reported on Michelle Obama’s decision to enter the 2024 fray: The Oct. 29 event will be hosted by...

Kamala Harris has been criticizing Donald Trump for ducking interviews. Today, however, she avoided a sit-down with the Economic Club of Chicago. Trump, by contrast, showed up and spent an hour facing difficult questions from Bloomberg News’s editor-in-chief John Micklethwait. It was, like all the best Trump appearances, a magnificently weird occasion. Who needs LSD when you can watch him as a presidential candidate, eight years in, still melting reality live on YouTube ? Micklethwait is a brilliant man: polished, Ampleforth and Oxford, highly successful. His hair is coiffed and his loafers look expensive. For the benefit of the affluent...

For over a decade, Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, has been embroiled in a relentless legal battle that illuminates, with the power of a million suns, the irreconcilable clash between Christian sexual ethics and our American First Amendment religious freedoms and the aggressive efforts of the radical LGBT lobby to conquer, subjugate, and humiliate Christians in the West. On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Colorado Supreme Court has dismissed a suit that was just one part of an interminable lawfare harassment campaign waged against the cake maker. “Jack Phillips won another legal victory for religious...

You know, sometimes New Jersey gets a real bad rap. And well, sometimes, that rap is wholly deserved. Case in point, Thomas Manzo. The ex-husband of The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Dina Manzo was sentenced to seven years in prison for the most New Jersey crime one could think of: he hired a purported member of the mob to beat up his ex's then-boyfriend/now-husband in exchange for throwing the attacker a lavish wedding reception.

The Free Press, not to be confused with the Detroit Free Press, is reporting that child sex trafficking at the Southern border exploded under the Biden-Harris administration, but you probably already knew that. The Free Press's Madeleine Rowley did a ride-along with a woman named "Lisa" (not her real name) who founded the anti-sex trafficking, non-profit group Shepherd's Watch. Their mission wasn't to charge into motel rooms and free girls from forced prostitution — that would likely result in a bullet to the head somewhere in the Texan desert. Their role is purely investigatory. Their goal is to locate the girls...

The Polymarket betting odds quickly tilted so heavily in Donald Trump's favor — bettors prefer him 60/40 over Kamala Harris this morning — that Nancy Pelosi just put in another order with Long Knives. She ordered two sets, one for doing in Harris and the second for Tim Walz. Enter stage left, Gavin Newsom. I'm kidding, of course. It's much too late (I think) to pull yet another presidential candidate switcheroo. But you'd better believe it's a notion Pelosi entertained last night while finishing off her first bottle of chardonnay. Harris, you see, is flailing. Her latest pitch is to...

A few days ago, I heard a Spanish politician complain about the birth rates, currently way less than the 2.1 per woman needed to maintain a population. Then, the lady went on to say that we will have to import immigrants to boost the births, and support our aging population.Enter former President Clinton and let’s hear what he had to say, in similar fashion:The plummeting American birthrate has become a partisan political issue. On the campaign trail Monday for Vice President Harris, former President Bill Clinton pointed to waning fertility rates as a pretext for more immigration. ‘We’ve got the lowest...
